  • I know. And the numbers geek in me wish I had more data to compare the calorie intake and output and everything but I have what I have. All I know is that when I eat enough fats I'm losing weight much faster, have loads of energy, and am not hungry. Thanks for the response. Based on your picture, you obviously know what…
  • Great job. I'm not religious about keto but I follow it much closer since mid October than I did earlier this year. I've heard having water with lemon early is great. I just haven't made that a strict part of my day yet. I'll have to kiss someone real quick and see if they can tell a difference.
  • Great results. And if you can keep going with what you're doing I wouldn't worry about being "in ketosis". I had a great Thanksgiving and put on a few lbs but today was almost back to my pre-holiday weight. When I'm eating enough fats I just don't miss anything else. Had a small slice of cheesecake at lunch today and don't…
  • Thanks for your service. I am 5'11". Looks like we started right about the same place this year. I got in the Navy in 1991 but did 3 years of college before going in. Best of luck to you.
  • I agree to a point. The key for me with Keto is that what I'm eating now keeps me from feeling hungry. I could eat less calories of other things and feel hungry and terrible but I really like how I feel on the keto path.
  • You know? I hadn't really been paying attention but come to think of it, yes. It's been much easier. I was having some issues prior to the last 40 days. It could very well be the coconut oil. I've lost weight and changed other things so its hard to say that it's definitely that.
  • I don't have a lot of history on my food diary but if it will help others I'll try to keep up with it. You can see what I have on there. Its been a few weeks since I added data. Good luck.
  • Thanks and you're welcome. I love talking about the progress and learning new things about Keto and how it can work for everyone.
  • I'm not doing crossfit but I'm working out very hard at least 1:30 or 2:00 every morning before work. After a few days of my body getting used to the drop in carbs and sugars I got all the energy back and then some. I'd say try to push through the lack of energy days and keep going. Getting enough fats will help with…
  • I did but it had been a while. What changed the most the last 40 days has been cutting out breads, pasta, and really cutting back sugar as much as possible. Even without getting to a true 5% carbs I've had great results. There are exceptions for those with diabetes or who have had a gall bladder removed but for the most…
  • I don't think overall calorie intake changed, but the macros certainly did. And it turns out that all the calories are consumed at breakfast and lunch and not very much after that. I've not put in a food diary in a couple of weeks but feel free to see the last few. They are good representations of what I've been doing.
  • It worked for me just keeping it simple. No bread, pasta, sugars. The vitamin water zero drinks are really good. And using MFP can be time consuming but it really opened my eyes to what I was eating and what it would take to go ketogenic. Good luck.
  • Thanks. Do you do any of the ZSun rides? The ride leader, Monica Holmes is the best!!
  • I'm playing Montague this week in Romeo & Juliet and had a goal of being down to 242.4 lbs. I weighed 233.8 this morning, down 32.2 lbs since March 3rd. Next goal was to weigh 225.3 lbs by June 30th when I'm playing Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady. But with today's weight, I could be 216.0 lbs by opening night.…
  • I agree with alphastarz. I usually get up in the morning, use the bathroom, have 2 glasses (16 oz) of water, get dressed, go for a run, then I'll shower and weigh right after the shower. Like she said, the key is being consistent and weighing at the same time every day. The morning is just easier because you haven't eaten…
  • Thanks Amanda (huango). Today was National Day of Prayer. I'm the incoming president of the Chamber of Commerce in my town and was asked to say a prayer for business/education and I didn't get to do my routine as usual. But I didn't go crazy with meals, either. I totally expect to hit a wall at some point and I have plenty…
  • Just found this challenge. I've been out of MFP for a while but back in with a vengeance. I started keeping track this year on March 3rd. I'm 46 (47 in July). March 3rd I weighed 266. 38.2% body fat. I've been walking/jogging/running in the mornings and started swimming at lunch. I make protein smoothies in the morning…
  • I'm working on losing the weight and then planning on reducing exercise and changing diet to account for maintenance. Should be around the middle of September when I get to 190 lbs which is just below 12% body fat. I'd be happy to maintain between there and 200 then. In reality, though, I really enjoy the exercise and I…
  • I set mine up to record every day. I post calories eaten and burned from MFP. At the beginning of the month I check my body fat using a device in our hospital's physical therapy office. I use that to calculate lean body mass and use that number for the month to calculate body fat. It anticipates future days to lose .4 lbs…
  • I have a few right now. Started getting back into this March 3rd at 266 lbs. I'm playing Romeo's father, Montague, in Romeo & Juliet starting May 18th. I set a goal of being down to 242 for the start of that. Then I'm playing Eliza Doolittle's father in My Fair Lady beginning June 30th. I set a goal of being down to 225…
  • I made spaghetti squash last night and it was really good. I got my brother a veggetti as a gag gift for Christmas but now I want one for real. My wife liked it but we may play around with which sauce to use.
  • I like to use a phrase I learned from Dave Ramsey. He's a financial adviser but this fits. He says to "live like no one else now so later you can live like no one else". I've seen normal. I see normal every day. Who wants to be normal anymore? Not me.
  • There are people that cant take the bulk part of fruits and vegies due to a disorder. Sometimes seeds bother people with conditions. That being said, I think you are spot on about the fiber. Without any disorder you are getting a more full nutrient rich meal with smoothies. IMO
  • You could just post the total time and the average speed or break it down into time at various speeds. The first option is much easier to get the data for and neither option will give you the exact calories used anyway. Post the easier of the two and just know you used more calories.
  • I believe my blender is a $40 Oster. It works great. My morning smoothie recipe makes two smoothies. At first it's purple but when I have the rest at lunch it's definitely green. 1 cup frozen triple berry medley 1 medium banana 2 scoops whey protein 1 tblsp coconut oil 3/4 cup almond milk 3/4 cup water 1 golden delicious…
  • This is where I am exactly. The only non-whole plant based things I eat right now are protein powder in my smoothies, greek yogurt, and the tortilla I eat my salad in. Everything else is plant based including beans I add to the salad on the tortilla. I'll have chicken or salmon on occasion but that's about it for meat. My…
  • If you're willing to drink your breakfast, I make a smoothie every morning. 1 cup frozen berries 1 medium banana (optional if wanting to cut more carbs) 1 or 2 scoops protein (probably 1 for a woman, 2 for a man) 3/4 cup almond milk 3/4 cup water 1 golden delicious apple 1/2 avocado 1 handful spinach 1 handful kale…
  • I agree with all these. Running with them also allows you to teach them the "rules of the road" about running so that when they go it alone they will know what to do to be safe. BTW. One safety note that isn't always listed anywhere. If you're running on the road you should run against the traffic. Except when coming to a…
  • I usually had to split them up and do them at different times but I tried to do them both in the same day.
  • Cough Cough Be careful how you agree to get a copy of this tape Cough Cough Copy write laws Cough Cough. Just sayin'.
