I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so its low carb for life for me if I don't want to lose body parts, go blind and die a terrible death anyway. That's just me through, YMMV.

Well I'm doing keto not zero carbs. I think I can lose the 100 plus pounds I need to lose just fine on what sugar there is in broccoli, cauliflower and avocados without harming my body. It won't happen on sugary drinks though.

I eat some veggies. No fruit. That's a lot different than drinking added sugar in a beverage though.

Oh I agree. I personally don't sweat it if I go up into 30 or so grams of net carbs. It's usually no higher than that and I have read you can go to 50 and still be in ketosis. And yes 150 is waaaay less that what most people eat on the SAD, for sure.

Well granted the fiber might be in your system for a while but its not like it's being shoved into fat storage. Its coming out sooner or later LOL. If I have to count total carbs only, I would just give up on all veggies and I don't think that would be very good for my health really. Plus it's nice to have a little variety…

I count net carbs. Why count fiber that is just going through your system and not adding to any weight gain?

According to this : https://fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/usda/broccoli?portionid=59022&portionamount=100.000 Total carbs are 6.64 and net carbs would be 4.04. I don't see a problem, 4 net carbs out of 20 allowed right?

I know Diet Mt. Dew has a few calories but I think the diet colas are zero. It's a minuscule amount in any event so I don't worry about it. Now salty dry roasted peanuts OTOH.....yikes! :D

I decided by the normal BMI for my age, gender and height. That's my first goal weight and then about half way into that normal BMI range would be the second goal.

I'm on keto and calories still count. Keto just makes it real easy to stay at my calorie limit because it slays my hunger but YMMV. We are not all the same, what works for me, may not work for you. You have to discover what will work for you...but...calories will always count in your personal formula whatever it turns out…

Same here! I love keto, its working so well for me and my wife! So much better than straight CICO with no carb restrictions at all. Every time I have tried to lose weight that way I felt starved 24/7 and gave up after a few weeks. With keto we have been on it since January of this year and still going strong! :)

I'm doing lazy keto. The most important number to me is net carbs. I aim for 20 a day but if its like 30 I'm not gonna freak because you stay in ketosis at 50 and under as far as I know. Yup pickle juice is a good one its salty as heck. I was watching a video on YouTube of an ultra marathon and at some of the rest stops the runners were offered pickle juice to drink to replenish all the salt they were sweating out.

I had keto flu in January when I and my wife started this WOE. Its no biggie. Feels like a cold coming on and tired lethargic feeling for a few days and then its gone. Drink lots of fluids, I used powerade zero because you are losing lots of salt. Then I noticed I wasn't starving to death 24/7....score!! :)

When I can run again I want to get some kind of fitness tracker but that's a good 30 pounds down the line so no big rush to get one on my part.

Great post OP! The pics really prove that you must get a scale if you really want to know how many calories you are eating everyday. This is not an option, its a must IMO.

I think that show should be outlawed. It is a torture show for fat people, period. It teaches the viewers total lies about how to lose weight as well and 99% of the contestants gain back most of the weight they risked their lives to lose on that joke of a show. I have to believe many of those folks suffer life long bad…
