Thanks for asking Wiseandcurious. Had/having a bout of emotional triggers and roadblocks. Learning how to navigate.

Okay...fell off the push up bandwagon totally. I had a very stressful moment that really derailed me and just totally forgot. Starting over. (Love the "Earth Downs")!

Yay! More pushing peeps!

Hey Balirun! I'm only responding to your OP so forgive any repeat advice. I also was a very active person then stopped for a long time. I would suffer from DOMS big time (even when I was fit) if I tried something new. Also, got DOMS after starting again after time away. If I got DOMS nothing seemed to help but rest.…

Thanks, man!

Thanks again, everyone!

I did find some videos on using bands. Seems pretty straight forward. I totally know I'm gonna have a knee slip out at least once and have the band smack my face or something. I was only familiar with the straight bands...not the circular bands. Now I understand. Any recommendations for the brand or strength? I flux…

So, are there special resistance bands for pull ups? I'd be using the pull-up bar at my local gym which is mounted on a universal type machine. It's the bar that is fairly long with the ends bent down. There is no assist pull-up machine there. I'll ask if they have some or allow it or what. I'd be alone...it there a way to…

My body or yours? Do whatever else suits you, man. Lemme guess...cycling? Skiing? Rock climbing? Yesterday I lifted and snowshoed, today I ran and later will play volleyball.
-
Finished! Yay! Later, I'm going to play volleyball.

Welcome aboard, jan112! I finished my Day 3 today. 5 modified push-ups down! Woo-hoo! I think tomorrow is a break from all my effort.
-
Just popping this up at a different time. Found some stuff online that seems good. I'll likely start doing eccentric pull ups soon too.

I like to do this in the summer (use a juicer) - because I tend to just want light, cool and refreshing and I find juicing suits this. I don't solely juice...but incorporate it when it feels right. I also have a very slow digestive system and sometimes overeat. I find juicing (or drinking good quality premade) helps me…

I was just thinking about this today! For me...I don't think I could do anything daily...but CINNAMON

Do Not Panic. Listen to your body and trust your instincts. This was the best advice I got when I went Hyperthyroid and anemic. First, you may just want to get retested. Mistakes can happen and other factors may have just caused a wacky reading. You absolutely have the right to ask for this, be listened to and get this…

[/quote] I do the sets consecutively with a 30-45 sec rest. I am doing as many sets of the daily goal number because if it's not a challenge, I won't be making progress. I'm not a complete beginner. I usually do 3 sets of 4-7 as a warm up. I'm doing the challenge to push myself. I have never done a set of 20 push ups…

Then don't.

Nice! Just curious, why 6 sets? Do you plan to do 6 sets throughout the challenge? Do you spread the sets out throughout the day?
-
I do this too. I see some people using it as social time, but I really like just tuning into what I'm doing. I do things differently than most...single set, slow reps, whole body workout. The other day I was going .5 MPH on the treadmill, mainly because that's what I felt like doing but also it's great for balance. I was…

Hi, Lewispwest. Only responding to your OP. I am a self-diagnosed emotional eater. I have made great progress with my awareness of my attitudes towards food and eating by 1) Listening, relating to and practicing many of the concepts from the audiobook "Intuitive Eating" by Tribole and Resch and 2) Coming to the…

I did day 2! It was actually 4 push-ups. Woo-hoo!

Thanks for all the thoughtful posts. I have some new things to look into or some things to revisit. I live with a very slow eater. He once remarked I should chew my food more...I watched him eat his food, counted his chews then did the same for myself. I unfortunately chew really quickly too...so even if we both chewed 20x…

Partly the reason I do it this way. It increases my awareness to the nutritional value of what I'm eating. There is a lot of "health" food (even organic, vegan, veggie, paleo, whatever) that when I really evaluate, it's not what I want to be eating. Glad your way works for you though! Pre-logging wouldn't work for me…

I agree with the not getting too hungry. As a recovering emotional eater I actually can have difficulty discerning true hunger and comfort hunger. So, taking time to just check in with myself is important. I also agree with the mindfulness (really thinking about what you are eating). I have found the audiobook "Intuitive…

@PearlAng Thanks. Yeah, the emotionally eaten foods is a hard one to do because you need awareness and honesty. I'm pretty solid at being honest...it's my awareness that is difficult. Sometimes I go back later in the day, review my categories and see if there is anything that should be moved there. I'm an emotional eater -…

I'll be headed to the gym by 9:20 AM EST. Weight lifting today and three more push-ups. I'm gonna do this. I have to say, I was mainly inspired because of some math I did recently. I turned 40 this month and had the passing thought that maybe I'd start doing 40 sit-ups a day for the year. I didn't. After a week or so…
