I'm glad I found this post. I did WW back in 2006 when I believe it was using the Flex Points system. This was before smart phones and I only did it online. I lost 15 lb in about 9 months but I felt like complete crap. I did not learn a lot about protein, fats, macros, etc. - basically their moto was if it fit in your…

I eat Lean Cuisines and Weight Watchers Smart Ones occasionally. Lean Cuisine has a couple of breakfast ones that I like but they're hard to find. I also try to find ones higher in protein and sometimes I add a small side salad to fill me up. I never tried Nutrisystem but I tried Jenny Craig and it was horrible. I…

My weight loss has not been linear either and I understand how discouraging that is. I've been trying to focus on other things that prove I'm doing it right. For example, my clothes feel much looser. I feel "thinner". I've also lost 2 inches from my chest, waist and hips the last 6 weeks or so. So while the scale isn't…

I work at a hospital and what the physicians worry about are large trends in a short amount of time, depending on your comorbidities of course (not as alarming if you don't have any). For example, a 20lb weight loss in a couple of months when you're not exercising or trying to lose weight - going to raise some red flags. A…

I'm going to try the same thing as I'm in a rut and haven't lost in a couple of weeks.

Yep. Been there too. I had two kids in a row and gall bladder surgery shortly after my second was born so I started off around 40 lbs heavier than when I got married. I was active and going to the gym all this time but nothing made a difference until I started MFP and tracking my calories. I decided not to go to my high…

Soy protein really bothers my GI system but I can tolerate whey. I think you're just going to have to try one type for a while and see how you feel.

If you have a running store near you, you really should have your gait analyzed as the type of gait you have will steer you toward one type of shoe over another. Do you overpronate or underpronate? Are you more neutral? Do you need arch support? Do you have foot problems like plantar fascitis? How much are you willing to…

I think the "gymtimidation" factor has a lot to do with it. I love weight training and have been incorporating it into my workouts for a long time. But, it was very intimidating when I first started and what helped me was my gym offered a barbell/weight training class. I prefer the classes/group fitness because I like the…

I find that MFP overestimated how many calories I burn for exercise. I allow myself to "eat" back about half of what I earn. I think you'll get a variety of answers to this - some people don't eat back the calories at all, while many eat back a portion.

Definitely the upper part of my body first (face, chest). Sadly that pooch below my belly button isn't going anywhere.

This is what I do too. I haven't completely given it up but I know I'll be more full having protein over carbs. I gravitate toward whole grains more than the white carbs because that's what I've been eating more of the last couple of months.

I weigh myself every day but only record Saturday's weight. I know it's normal to have fluctuations but they drive me crazy. I'm afraid I won't be accountable if I only weigh myself once a week.

I had to hide it in the pantry because if I saw it I would sneak a piece here or there. We went to a relative's house on Easter so my kids got some chocolate candy they didn't like, so I first got rid of that by bringing it to work and we only kept the "good" stuff.

This! You have to look at this as a lifestyle change, and changes are sometimes hard to do 24/7, especially something like changing your diet. If you were eating unhealthy for years, there are going to be days where you just overdo it. You're human. It happens. What I do when I have a bad day is try not to beat myself up…

Oh yeah -- I too found the probiotic helped a ton.

My experience has been a little different from the other posters. I had a lap chole (gall bladder removal) in 2007 after several attacks. I decided to have it out electively only because I had a couple of giant gallstones that would temporarily get stuck near the duct and I didn't want to have emergency surgery. Mine was a…

I find Hershey Kisses help satisfy the chocolate cravings without totally going overboard and hating myself.

I don't take weekends off. We have a lot of family parties since our families are local and if I completely take it off, I would wipe out my whole week's worth of work. I have tended to go over my calories as I can't get to the gym on weekends (I also work every other weekend which doesn't help) but I don't go crazy over.…

You can add me too!

You and I are practically the same person. About the same starting weight with the same goal. When I originally started back on MFP faithfully (on 2/1/16), it originally calculated 1200 calories for me (as I have a job where I sit all day) and am lucky to get to the gym 3x/week. 1200 was too restrictive for me, so I…

I totally agree that the calories that MFP says you burn is overestimated. I don't eat them all back, I try to eat only half back. I also found, as I too started on Feb 1, that it took a couple of weeks for my body to figure out what it was doing. It was like "WTF is going on????" I need to take my measurements but I can…

Aunt Flo's pending visit drives me crazy too. Like today, all I wanted was bad food! It is really hard to be good when you're craving crap.

I'm a working mom of two and even though mine are a bit older than yours, I struggle with trying to balance everything. I try to meal plan and that takes a bit of the pressure off because then I'm not tempted to grab something quick and it makes planning my week a bit easier. I'm trying to buy healthier snacks so that it's…

Feel free to add me too

Just started up again after falling off the wagon a few months ago (I wasn't seeing any progress on the scale so I quit). 40 something here too (gulp). Feel free to add me :)
