I suspect on here we would all be sensible with moderation of what went to school otherwise we wouldn't be on this site. Thanks for chatting back I appreciate it.

The first part I apologised it wasn't quite what I meant. I meant more if we run out of one thing I wish we wouldn't substitute with biscuits etc. the second part I totally meant but I realise we all have differing opinions. Again not blaming parents actually want schools to take more of a stance. Again we may differ with…

Totally agree with you that what goes on in a neighbours house is totally their own business and not ours. That's sort of my point. The children aren't at home they are at school in a community group. The more lenient the school is the more some parents push those limits. I'm from the UK and some parents literally pile…

Whilst no one should shame a parent we should as a society start to see the growing problem of children's health. For me an Oreo or cake or chocolate bar should be a treat for a child not an everyday normal part of lunch. If all schools agreed to the same there should be no issues. Children will do what the grown ups tell…

I eat nearly all mine back and would struggle on 1200 if I didn't. It's not fun the days I don't exercise.

Whilst personally I think 1200 calories is better and I think what MFP recommend I really don't see walking 5 miles in this circumstance as dangerous. Let's not forget only one generation back most people were walking this simply to get to work or to take the kids to school. I just wish I lived somewhere where we had all…

I couldn't do this. I would never want to eat a large meal for breakfast when I've only been up less than an hour. Similarly if I eat dinner at 7pm then I have at least 4 hours before bed so I would never want a small dinner unless I knew I was having a supper a few hours later. I do agree a good breakfast sets you up so I…

Good luck. It will be interesting to see what you think at the end of the week.

Thank you for such a thorough answer. It's great to know where the protein is from. I have bought some quest bars and hope to have them occasionally when I'm struggling to get something filling and healthy. I will probably keep one I the car or my hand bag. I have to say the first one I tried was a different texture to…

Try and do some exercise. It will give you less hours thinking about food as well as a few extra calories at the end of the day. If you're out take a snack in your bag and only buy a low cal drink.

Keep logging otherwise bad habits could creep in. Be careful what is in our cupboards and fridge. Try and keep moving even if it's walking everyday. Educate ourselves with our food choices and how to cook them. We control how we live not the scientists.

New to Protein Bars. I understand how protein is in food such as meat and eggs but is the protein in protein bars a natural product or made up in a laboratory somewhere. Sorry to be so ignorant on the subject. I'm trying to eat healthier but not sure if protein bars would be part of this. I have started running and one an…

For me running and a little weight loss has helped. I do agree I think genetics play a part though. I have seen many larger ladies with very little cellulite and quite skinny ladies with it. Running hasn't completely got rid of it for me but I now feel confident enough to wear mid thigh shorts.

Try cod less fishy than haddock.

I'm 48, 5'8 was 142 now down to 135. I'm on 1200 but eat all exercise calories back. These are usually through running and vary between 300-400. Exercising usually 5 times a week. If I didn't eat all calories back I would probably feel tired. I set to lose 1lb a week and so far it's been pretty accurate.

I exercise to give me a few more calories and then treat myself.

Just be careful with the calories involved. C25k won't I'm guessing use that many calories. A lot of runners go on about protein shakes but these runners tend to cover a lot of miles each week so burn a lot of calories. I really would look into trying to eat more protein. Last year I started running and was running 5km 3…

You've got to try Fish and chips from the chip shop. It will hurt the waistline but once in a while won't hurt. Put plenty of salt and vinegar on.

Depending where in England you go the names of the meals can catch you out. Older or more traditional may call the meal times breakfast dinner and tea. Rather than breakfast lunch and dinner. So be careful as dinner can actually be at two times of the day. I originally come from Yorkshire and still call my midday meal…

Celery sticks dipped in Greek yoghurt and mint sauce.

I thought that might be the case. Glad to know as I would love to travel to other parts of the USA in future. I was always a little embarrassed leaving so much on my plate. Funnily the large ice creams I could manage;)

Run for me. However the flip side is if I can't run I get stressed!

I'm 48 yrs, 5ft 8 and lost 5 lbs currently at 137lbs. Would like to get to around 133lbs. Losing 1lb a week but just maintained over Easter. Eat 1200 calories a day and eat exercise calories back. Usually around 300 a day. I find I need to eat the full calories I am allowed each day which I manage with lots of veggies for…

I'm from the UK and have been to Florida 5 times or so in the last ten years or so. Your restaurant portions are enormous. I have to say we are catching up so please don't take this the wrong way. Your child portions are adult portion sizes I think. Not sure if Florida is different as I guess many American people are also…

Love bread but the calories soon add up. I do however have a sandwich every lunchtime using wholemeal. It's also sliced so I know exactly how many calories without weighing it. I couldn't live without it :)

Tesco do their own brand coconut yoghurt as my partner loves it with muesli. I can't tell you if it's healthy or not though but cheap as own brand.

I'm on 1200 calories a day. The days I run 30 mins I tend to eat back the 300 extra calories. If I run an hour 600 calories I don't eat them all back. This seems to be keeping me manage my diet and actually do more exercise. Many days I have thought if I have a run I can eat a little more. This seems to work for me. For me…

Those that add Greek Yoghurt can I ask a stupid question. Do you add it in to the cooking process or just dollop it on at the end cold. Only recently started using it and not sure if you can heat it up.. Thanks

I try and have these sort of meals on a day I'm exercising that way it can work into my bigger calorie days. I do agree making smaller portions. Do we really need all those chips or a full fish. A child's portion is a great idea.
