  • I'm 33, 5'4 and 114lb so pretty similar to you... I'm just heading towards maintenance and I'm finding adding a morning and afternoon snack uses my calories up nicely... I have things like a handful of nuts, greek yoghurt, oat cakes with nut butter, generally stuff that contains a decent amount of protein and/or is…
  • Thank you everyone :) looks like more food for me this xmas, yippee! x
  • Thank you :) it's confusing what to put on MFP as my job is sedentary (office based) yet I have 2 young kids so run round ragged at home, plus I work out regularly - I put "lightly active" and log my exercise days - I'd say I lose 1lb per week at least... I've lost 15lbs in about 11 weeks overall. I'll see what it says if…
  • I tend to eat between 1200 - 1500 depending on activity for the day, plus I eat more on exercise days. But 1200 is low. For breakfast I have oats soaked in almond milk with nuts and blueberries. For lunch I have something like a chicken / smoked salmon salad with plenty of salad veggies. For dinner I have for example…
  • Oranges (can't touch them, they trigger my migraines). Oh and i've never managed to get my head round eating brussels sprouts, they are so wrong (childhood memories of overcooked soggy sprouts still haunt me)!!!
  • Haha thanks everyone, I'm celebrating that I never have to touch that disgusting stuff ever again!!! Woohoo!!! :) I will give it her back...
  • I'm not even sure to be honest... she put down a whole load of supplements (the other are fine though like multivits, probiotics etc as I took them anyway). I think it was for energy and detox. She did say it tasted bad, but I thought I would be able to hold my nose and neck it but nope! She can have it back...
  • I still eat my calories too, I'm just doing a six week programme at the moment set by my trainer. But there's no way I'm ever drinking that awful stuff ever again, I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy! lol! Feel bad for wasting £42 though, i'll see if my trainer wants to buy it off me. I eat plenty of veggies etc so you're…
  • I think they recommend AT LEAST 12 weeks, that's what I was told. Personally I waited longer than that to start exercising - being a new mum is tough enough and tiring enough, and my section scar didn't heal well. The honest answer if you're desperate to start lifting asap... ask a doctor to declare you fit for it. But I…
  • Thank you everyone for the advice :) i'll try to be a little more patient and keep logging foods and exercising. Hopefully my clothes will feel a bit looser eventually and i'll be less bothered about what the scales say.
  • I didn't actually realise that. My BP has always been relatively low, but very low in pregnancy...
  • Thank you, maybe I'm being to hard on myself. With 2 kids to look after as well as diet and exercise I'm probably more active than I think and maybe need to adjust my goal to 1lb per week (which I'd be happy with). I'm not the most patient person in the world (so my husband tells me!) so I might be expecting too much too…
  • I guess it was for the motivation to kick start me into getting fit again. I didn't just want to lose weight, I wanted to get toned and strong again which I know takes time. I don't completely avoid salt, I just don't add it into my cooking. I'll use things like soy sauce with stir frying etc, I thought using added salt in…
  • I drink sparkling water mainly... if i get bored of that i'll just add fresh lemon or lime :) I've got used to it now. (or on a Friday night, gin! haha!)
  • I don't drink diet or regular sodas - regular sodas because of the sugar content and diet sodas trigger my migraines unfortunately (well, artificial sweeteners do). Shame because i love diet coke! They are zero calories so won't lead to weight gain... everything in moderation i guess :)
  • I'm gluten free, I find it bloats me and gives me stomach cramps so I try to avoid it. I'm also trying to lose about 10lbs but doubt that cutting out gluten will do much for that. Feel free to add me if you want and view my food diary for ideas. But half a stone in 2 weeks is a lot to lose?? x
  • I breastfed and needed to eat ALL the time, I didn't gain weight whilst I breastfed either. You need to eat at least 500 calories per day extra for your body to produce the milk for your baby. I used to eat in the night whilst I fed baby too I was always starving! I would be tempted to aim for closer to 2000 calories per…
  • I'm from near Blackpool, feel free to add :) x
  • Hi, I'm 5'3... currently 130 aiming for 112-115. Eating (net) 1200 cal per day but increasing this for exercise which I do 5 days per week at the moment x
  • I'm from near Blackpool x
  • Thank you everyone for the motivation :) feeling a little better about it today, I've actually stepped on the scales this morning after not doing for a few days and I'm 3lb down. I guess my body was playing tricks on me / getting used to the new lifestyle. I can't see changes yet, but I know soon enough I will start to. I…
  • Wow you do love a bit of drama! Never once said processed food is evil btw. I'm sure I mentioned I do indulge in it myself as part of a varied diet. And I'm more than welcome in the gaining weight forum since that is what I'm aiming to do. Anyway I'm off for now, got a holiday to pack for! :) have fun!
  • Clearly I have rattled your cage, however unintentionally. We can both eat what we enjoy eating, I have no problem with that. As you point out a calorie is a calorie (I agree), I just choose to fill mine with foods I consider healthy. I will put on the weight if I eat a calorie surplus, however I choose to make that up.…
  • I'm not saying all processed food is automatically bad (it's not), just that things such as fruits, veggies, eggs, nuts, lean meat etc are good for you. Myself, I'm only looking to gain a few pounds, so I'm just eating more of what I usually do. I only avoid certain foods (e.g. those containing aspartame as I get migraines…
  • I'm not the OP - I've commented above that I misunderstood the OP's meaning as I've not heard of a clean vs dirty bulk before. I can't understand what's wrong with eating unprocessed healthy food most of the time though - whether I would gain surely depends on how much of it I eat (which can be quite a lot)! And I do enjoy…
  • This morning... porridge made with almond milk, topped with banana cooked in cinnamon, chopped pecans and honey, delicious! With a milky coffee :)
  • ahh ok I misunderstood :) never heard of a clean vs dirty bulk... in this case I'm also on a clean bulk just trying to still eat healthily rather than stuffing my face with chocolate! (which I would love to do but it would no doubt undo all my hard work!)
  • Just really cutting out processed stuff. Think different people see it differently, but the way I see it it's making meals from scratch with fresh ingredients, no added rubbish or chemicals. Plenty of fruit, veg, lean meats, healthy fats etc. I'm not strict about eating this way as I like to eat out sometimes and I do like…
  • Hi there, First of all congratulations on your ongoing recovery and your progress so far! :) I'm also trying to gain weight for medical reasons. I don't have and haven't had an eating disorder but after having my little boy I dropped from 145lb to 109lb in 6 months. I'm 5'4" and currently 112lbs so I'm gaining a bit…
