Welcome, John! I'm starting out (again) in the 390s. It's so hard but I've got to be successful this time. I'm almost 38 and my body is a wreck. We can do this! The first step is the hardest!

I have read almost all of Dr. Fuhrman's books and several other books akin to Dr. Fuhrman's beliefs. I tend to agree with them about 80%. I believe that we all do need to eat more nutrient dense foods and eliminate or restrict other "not-so-great" foods like refined sugar. Does that mean it works for everyone? Absolutely…

34 and I need at least 8 on a regular basis to function normally. 9 is preferable. I regularly sleep 10-12 on weekends but usually am pretty lazy after that...I just can't pull myself out of bed if I don't have to be somewhere.

I think it's good to stop labeling foods as good food and bad food. Or eating well and eating badly. That kind of talk. Can leave you feeling like YOU are bad or YOU are good. Try telling yourself that you are strong enough to start over right now. The last two weeks happened but they aren't the end! You can start over…

Talking about store delivery or pick up...I'm waaaaaaay too OCD for that. Someone else picking out my produce gives my anxiety. And I have to check the expiration dates.

I agree with both posts. If you restrict it's like a punishment. Just hop back on and do better today than yesterday.

Nashville, TN area here. I mainly shop at Kroger and Aldi. I purchase some specialty items online from Amazon, Lucky Vitamin, or Vitacost. Sometimes I will swing by Walmart but I try to stay away from there. If I'm near Sam's I will get some things there. They have good prices on most veggies and fruits. I am really going…

One cheat day can easily turn into a binge, two cheat days (etc.), or giving up completely for me. The last time it was a three day binge in which I ate over 5,000 calories each day, according to my estimate. I think each person has to find what works for them. Some can do a cheat day and be totally fine. I have found that…

I have never been under 300 pounds in my adult life. I have no "when I was younger xxx weight looked good on me" to reference. At this point ANY number on the scale under 200 would be magnificent. Ultimate goal would be whatever number I felt and looked comfortable at that I can maintain and my doctor agrees with. I want…
