You really have to do what works for you. Everyone is different. I get up at 4-5am but I don't eat my first meal until 11am-noon. Then I eat around 2-4, again around 5-7 and then some sort of dessert. Some would think that was crazy, but for me it works.

I don't understand why 'regular' potatoes have such a bad reputation. I can't stand sweet potatoes and never eat them. White potatoes are a vegetable. They are high in potassium and vitamin C, have trace amount of micronutrients like zinc and riboflavin. They are a complex carbohydrate. They contain antioxidants. Fat free,…

You're so much healthier now, good job! All your hard work paid off.

Sometimes I log the "overages" and sometimes I don't. The only reason I log is to keep my calories under control. I have zero ability to judge calories on my own. Like this weekend Saturday I had 2 bottles of wine in addition to food, Sunday I had a beautiful T-bone and baked potato, after a breakfast made by my husband.…

Jelly Belly jelly beans. 50 flavors. Gluten free. Peanut free. Dairy free. Vegetarian. Certified Kosher. 4 calories per jelly. :) They also make chocolate covered fruit flavors. But those don't meet the above criteria except the 4 calories per jelly.

I don't see how that is possible. The only way for them to gain weight would to be to eat over maintenance consistently to re-gain the weight. Exercise has nothing to do with that. If someone wants to sit on their butt the rest of their life and eat at deficit/maintenance they won't gain weight. I'm not commenting on if…

1200 calories a day is do-able but it can be rough. Yes, like the previous poster said eat back at least half of your exercise calories. But make sure those calories are reasonably accurate. If you're logging a 1000 calorie burn for 20 minutes of swimming and eating back 500 that might not be very helpful for you. 1200 is…

Peri menopause was absolutely miserable. Hot flashes where I felt I was being set on fire. Night sweats, chronic insomnia, wild mood swings, cramps, never knowing when another period was coming, sore breasts for months at a time while hormones were 'stuck'. Absolutely miserable. I only have 36 days left before I'm post…

I tried. I wasn't able to make it past the first 28 seconds. I'll read the other replies to find out what it's all about.

I'm not sure what you are considering a low calorie diet. You don't want to go below 1200 a day and that is sort of pushing it. I'm post menopausal and I have a calorie budget of 1800 a day and I am losing weight at my expected rate. I don't have that much to lose though. I gained 25lbs of 'lazy weight'.

For better or for worse I drink at least 8 to 9 16.9oz bottles of water a day. I live in a very hot climate and I exercise outside. For me, yes I do need a lot of water.

I love them and they are so convenient. There are instances when I'm starving but just am not in a position to make a meal, so a Quest bar fills the gap until I can. I am still working my way through a few boxes I got from Amazon a month or so ago. $24 a box with free shipping. But I did see a thread here yesterday saying…

I use a Calphalon hard anodized searing pan and don't use any oil or butter of any kind. Just throw the chicken or salmon or whatever in there. Nothing else is needed. I spend my healthy fat calories on avocado. Oil isn't worth it to me. And because I'm a little bit addicted to avocado. :)

I don't see where anything to do with size of your stomach or size of your fist has impact on weight loss or health. Your stomach is designed to stretch and accommodate what you eat, digest, contract and do it all again. The size of your stomach in a resting stage is not indicative of anything. Just like the size of a…

I hate to say it but I think it's fish. Microwaved fish.

Yeah, this thread does not set a good example for someone new to eating differently and healthy. It sends the wrong message to anyone who hasn't had the opportunity learn more about the subject. Actually it reinforces the old stereotypes that you have to starve yourself to be 'skinny'.

Oh! Haha, yeah I guess that would make more sense. And that green stuff looks like cooked frozen chopped spinach.

Is your cucumber and grape snack sitting on a public bathroom baby changing table? Not that it's my business, but I'd never be able to eat in a public bathroom.

It was the rice. I couldn't make a guess at your serving size. But those pumpkin cheesecake cookies are divine! So are the pumpkin spice Milano's. I'm so glad fall is almost here because I love Dunkin Donuts pumpkin spice coffee.

Oh! It can be a game. I'm guessing that comes to 1562 calories.

I don't figure in exercise calories at all. I have a set amount of calories for every day whether I exercise or not. I was only trying to lose .5lbs a week but am losing closer to 1.3lbs a week. This way I never have to worry about exercise. I'm never hungry. It's the same every day and I don't have to adjust what I can…

I wouldn't log. Sounds like you have a busy and fun weekend ahead of you. Give yourself a break! Life can pass you buy when you're too busy logging your food for next week. Try not to overeat. Enjoy your friends and family. Your food log will still be there come Monday morning.
-
I don't plan. I sort of envy those who can prelog their food day or even food week. 30 minutes before dinner and half the time I'm eating something entirely different than I had planned. Today I had a big spinach salad with chicken and cheese and veggies. Double weight of chunky peanut butter on 2 pieces of toast. Cheetos.…

I only drink 2 liquid things, coffee and water. Occasionally wine at home but I don't really count that. I drink water everywhere I go. Is it the calories in alcohol you're worried about?
-
Ha! I needed a giggle. Thanks for that ;)

Because I don't have them often, I like a really good sandwich for lunch. Some black forest ham, swiss cheese, mayo, tomato, avocado, spinach on some good grain bread. Yum.
-
No. I'm sorry. :( This isn't true. And to the OP. If you are careful in what you're eating and working out religiously and gaining weight, could it be muscle weight you're gaining? Last time I hit weights hard core I gained 15+lbs but went down sizes in my shorts.

Most people find their birthday to be a celebration and the tradition of a birthday cake is like what, 600 years old? Too assume a person waits for 1 day a year where they can "fatten up the whole office" is really presumptuous. If you don't want to partake, don't. But don't spoil it for others or pass such harsh judgment…
