  • Bless you for making that choice... That's such love. Thank you for sharing.
  • I am an adoptive Mom and love hearing others adoption stories. I was given a bit of medical info on my babies... Always wished I had more, but often times birth parents are so young at that time, there's not an awful lot of history to go on. My daughter is 38 and my son 35 now and I am the one that would love to meet those…
  • Sean, I loved this post and see an awesome sense of humor here. (plus I have a son named Sean, so love the name!) They say repeatedly here, "it's calories in and calories out" and I'm realizing it's truly that simple... but oh, the doing of it! Just one day at a time, Sean... Check out some of the community posts for…
  • Welcome, Eric! What a beautifully written post... and an awesome testimony! You are indeed a great encourager and have much to offer here and to all around you. I can hear your kind spirit. Thank you so much for your honest and open sharing. My mantra: Feeling afraid of doing a thing? Then do it afraid! You have sure…
  • Not so small success! This is great! Gosh, and I just about set off fireworks over 4 lbs! LOL! Great inspiration for all...Thanks for sharing!
  • Yes, sounds like you're coming up... I had alcohol issues too... it was my choice of anti- depressant... and it's a depressant! Vicious cycle and so much better without it. Literally forcing myself to get my body moving was a nightmare but after only a few days started feeling a little difference... then a little more and…
  • Thank you MDanca for saying it!!! Tremroy, this person's got the goods! Just reading her/his posts here inspires me too. I've seen some pretty cold and hurtful comments made in some of the community threads and thought we were all here to be helpful and encouraging... so disappointing when I see that negative stuff and…
  • Is this really all about the weight thing or something else going on in your life? Looks like lots of good advice posted for you here... Hope you're receiving it and will follow what those who've been right where you are, are saying. It is a long haul for sure, but once you get some successes under you, that will be your…
  • Welcome, Bambi... Plenty of inspiration on here and always room for more! Wish you great success!
  • Beautiful!
  • Welcome! I'm new too for about a week and loving all the help and support here... you will too! All kinds of encouragement whether you find yourself stuck with lack of motivation or physically and in need of dietary or exercise advice. You came to the right place!

  • Welcome, Jim! Started my "getting healthier" regime on the 18th of this month... husband is not on board totally but is a great encourager so it's all good! Great you & wife are doing this together and now have added MFP. Faithfully keeping that food diary was a HUGE eye opener for me... no wonder I was sick & tired! Best…

  • Me too! Extreme weight loss is another one and those motivated me to get going in the 1st place! Not twisted at all and hey, if it is who cares? If not for some of that I'd still be on my ample butt as my own health went down the tubes.
  • Making really short term goals: today I'm sticking to the plan... logging in everything on MFP... taking that walk. I can have that piece of cake (or ice cream or cookies or chips) anytime I want it but I'm in charge here and I'm choosing "not now", so I'll have a really juicy pear or something else that I love with some…
  • The coffee is a diuretic and you might be a bit dehydrated due to that... !st symptom of dehydration? Muscle cramping! Switching to decaf should help, but make yourself drink water before you allow a coffee...just saying, it might help you to discipline yourself to get enough fluids replenished. Good luck with this!
  • One week and 2 days in and also a start over... I'm 61. Good for you and you're blessed to have your husband on board. Mine is as well... best support system! On Saturday I was able to come in here and announce my 1st week loss of 4lbs... so many congrats and encouraging words from others. Best to you & hubby. You can do…
  • Anybody ever done this one? My old pedometer is out of commission / don't have a fitbit, so on day 1 of walking I took the car on that exact route to get my mileage... I began to go a bit further and I counted each step in my head! (hey 100 steps is 100 steps!) Now I'm mainly just timing it & not worried about distance.…
  • wonderful job! Love the end of your post too... "Keep moving forward no matter what life throws at you"... Thanks for that and for sharing your success!
  • thanks for this info... Hanging in here and just beginning to really see where I was as far as food intake and the quality of that food... I can hardly believe I actually sustained life in how much garbage and empty cals I was eating!
  • No one and I mean NO ONE can or would if they could do this for you... we'll encourage but it's ALL on you.
  • any all natural juice... just an ounce or less really perks it up. 1 cup hot water with a bit of straight lemon juice 1st thing in the a.m. does wonders to wake up metabolism and is cleansing for liver and kidneys.

  • YAY for you! You sound like you have really got it and will continue to live well and strong for life... Great testimony and encouraging to all. Thank you for sharing and best to you!
  • Just getting started here, so yes mainly concentrating on calorie and exercise goals but within that I am really limiting high glycemic index carbs like white potatoes, most breads, pasta, rice etc. I' found in the past that the weight does come off more quickly by doing that. (only 2 slices of bread in past 7 days) I…
  • I do know where you were in those thoughts... been there too. Best to you and what a beautiful family! Best reason in the world to get healthy and strong!
  • Wow... looks like 2 different men...wonderful job well done!
  • I add my exercise but just do the math and don't use them... I'm not advising that. Only been here a week and am still feeling my way around and seeing how it all goes. I may wind up using them depending on my progress. My food diary always looks like I took in too few cals because of this but as long as I am losing (and…
