I lost 5 stone and then my father-in-law passed away (we were very close as I grew up with my husband). It seemed like our whole world was turned upside down and I just completely lost track of what I was eating and stopped working out. I am very disappointed in myself that I have let myself put the weight back on (and…

Thank you for your help peeps. I think I just got a bit disheartened because I had worked so hard - but perhaps I am going a bit too hell for leather. Its a marathon not a sprint after all. Thank you so much for all your help and advice. I will try and incorporate more fats and protein into my diet also.

+1 plus its early days, a month would be more realistic to see how things are going for you.[/quote] I am weighing

Yes. I am weighing x

I drink gin and low calorie bitter lemon.

I typical day is special K for breakfast, roasted veg (no oil) and polenta chips (grilled) and an evening meal of something like a jacket potato with plain tuna and a smidge of butter. I have been snacking on fruit (about 2-3 pieces a day and a no added sugar jelly when I fancy something sweet). have also been getting in…

5 11- looks like I'm the fattest here at 313lbs :( My goal is 160 (so essentially half of me!!)

I think with birth control it makes you gain weight as it increases your appetite - so if you are still tracking your calories it *should* not make any difference - I say should as I know its speculative and a lot of people claim that it has contributed to weight gain. I had a contraceptive implant fitted during my weight…

Have you checked under the sofa?

I carry a lot of weight on my bottom half as compared to my top and I'm sick of hearing 'you don't need to lose any more up top just your bottom' - thanks guys, if I could spot reduce, do you not think that I would!!
-
Thanks @KatKat1209 - I have added you. I have quite bad pain in my legs at the moment, but only when sitting or lying down, so my Nurse has told me not to do high intensity activity as it can cause further accumulation of fluid in the legs  -

@EvgeniZyntx - Thank you. As moronic as it sounds, I can't face the fact that I can't run with this condition as it will make it worse. I absolutely adore running (as slow as I go) and really love the challenge of building up my speed and distance and don't like the thought of having to give it up

@JeromeBarry1 - but what about the plane tickets!?
-
@kuranda10 - Yes, lipo would work but unfortunately would cost me around £4,000 which I don't have - believe me I'd be there now if I had the money!! haha

Currently at 243 and want to lose 9 more lbs to get well into the 230s and get to 50lbs lost (currently at 41lbs gone)
-
Have you overly restricted your calorie intake to get to your current weight - it may be your body sending you a message that it needs more fuel
-
But if I want to lose 20lbs before I go on holiday and get to 18lbs lost - does that really matter? I realise I am being pedantic here but that's just in my make up  !

So I'm taking that this phrase essentially means that a 'bad diet' just equates to a diet with a caloric excess and not a nutritionally deficient diet and the unit of time it takes to burn said calories when compared to one another - I think I understand it more now - thanks peeps
-
I put forward my understanding of the phrase and invited a debate that's all - not so much looking for an 'answer' as other people's views on the phrase as a whole
-
But if a calorie is a calorie - why does it matter where it comes from?
-
@richln But if that pizza is all you have in a day and you burn that over the day - surely you would still lose ?
-
I meant a diet that is nutritionally bad - if I eat 2,000 calories worth of cheeseburger a day (I don't!) and burn 3,000 calories in a day with exercise - surely that's outrunning a bad diet?
-
I didn't realise there was a debate section
-
I also don't understand the 'I want to be X weight for X event' - I wasn't aware that when you reached that holiday destination or that wedding or whatever event is coming up, that they get some scales out and you're not allowed in unless you've reached a specific weight!! - I understand wanting to look better, yes I…

^This, my 3 year old daughter is under Endocrinology for a series of hypoglycemic attacks in which her sugars hit 1.4 and she was unresponsive, if you really are suffering from true symptoms of adrenal fatigue, go and see a doctor but please do not self diagnose because you think that your symptoms fit with a googled list!!

2lbs will just be water weight, especially if you've been training hard - they say that you do gain water weight initially when starting a new training schedule. Give it a bit more time and track your weight and you will most likely see a downward trend - weight loss is not linear. As long as you are accurately logging…

You look amazing - if I look anywhere near as good as that, I'd be happy - not that I will EVER get to 165, 180 is going to be enough of a struggle for me!! The more I think about it and after what everyone has said on here, I think that they were just trying to be nice rather than criticise and I guess there is nothing…
