  • @Darlene_Oregon I had similar labs. Everything to do with my liver was in the "bad" area and as a trickle effect I have bad cholesterol too! Darn. It's no fun, but it is a kick in the butt in the right direction. Have you been having difficulty with sleep? That's my ongoing issue since I quit drinking. Hang in there. Every…
  • You've got this @Darlene_Oregon! I try to remind myself it's a lot harder to start over back with a day one than keep it going, though I know the first week in general is a difficult one. Hang in there
  • @Darlene_Oregon Just do it! You've got this. I am cheering for you!!!
  • @Darlene_Oregon I believe in you, but you gotta believe in you too. 100%. I'm afraid your liver enzymes will be bad, but I'm not sure about through the roof. Potentially they will because you and I have very similar drinking habits and mine were notably bad, and I'm younger so I have that healing edge going for me (for now…
  • @Darlene_Oregon I'm still doing well! Just terrible about checking in. I am still sober and now I'm down 25 lbs. Can't believe I'm still going strong. I've never been this far along on my own. I also was at my personal worst weight of 288 lbs (I'm about 5ft 8in) in January when I decided I needed to take my health more…
  • @SparkSpringtime69 I had heard there was a movement of younger peoples gravitating towards it without ever bothering to look further. It's an interesting read that is relatable, but doesn't try to fill your head too much. It's worth looking into even if you don't plan on doing all of the exercises in my opinion. Some…
  • Hello just checking back. I have now slipped up twice on drinking, but all in all am doing so much better than I ever thought I would. I have drank two days since Jan 17th and have only had 3 beers total. The most recent slip up was the day before yesterday however and this time -like many times before- it was incredibly…
  • @Darlene_Oregon I agree that tapering is best. I personally went through pretty bad alcohol withdrawals back in 2021. I did not have medical assistance but was advised call 911 at the slightest sign of misgivings. I probably should have but I was stubborn. I was awake for 40 hours, sweating profusely, shakey, and a bit…
  • @Bex953172 Oh no it doesn't bother me any! I just learned I can't fit it into MY calories because I struggle to stop at one or two drinks. You do you! Have one for me 😂 For lower calorie/higher alcohol I recommend sipping on something like spiced rum with coke zero. Kinda tastes like vanilla coke and then it's less than…
  • @TerriRichardson112 thank you, I'm still working on actually checking in though I know it's good for me! Intro/Goals I'm down 11.8 lbs since I quit drinking on the 17th of last month. I'm going to try to keep this momentum going for as long as I can keep it! My biggest struggle has been sleep. I've tried melatonin,…
  • Popping in to say I'm still doing good. Haven't drank since the 17th of January minus the one beer slip up on the 28th where my guilt kept me from continuing to the liquor cabinet. The good: I'm now down 12 lbs since the 01/17, I have more energy though not as much as I'd like, and 3 people now have told me I seem happier.…
  • @lilith40 I can completely relate with the all or nothing, and MAN is it hard to choose nothing some days. I drank probably 355 of 365 days last year. It's gonna have to be abstinence for me since I've failed to fix my relationship with alcohol. Hang in there!
  • Checking in because it's after 2am and I probably won't be able to fall asleep until 4am or later. Oh the joys of pursuing sobriety 🙃😭 It's still worth it though. I read for someone who drank like me it can take a month or more for sleep to improve. I'm about 2 weeks in so hopefully for me it'll be sooner than later.…
  • Fair enough with whatever works :D The important part is you've gotten to know yourself and you're making it work! Sharing it helps others consider those options as well so I appreciate it  I also try to put myself in my slimmer future self mentality sometimes. "What would healthy Amberly choose?" lmao
  • @Bex953172 I love your tips and tricks section. Smart and motivational! @mytime6630 I wanted the Chiefs and the Lions to come out on top too! My husband is from KC, MO and I'm from Michigan. It would have been an epic match for us. Hopefully next year! I'm a Lions fan first and a Chiefs fan second, so at least one of them…
  • Small update from me. I slipped and had an IPA on Sunday. I had to nurse my wounds after the Lions crashed and burned in the second half on Sunday. I regret it. I felt instant guilt because I know people are cheering me on. I have a stupid high tolerance so I never felt anything from it, but it is what it is. Still…
  • @Gsaunders02 have you reached out to a doctor? I feel like there's probably more going on then. They might want to run some blood tests. I drank similarly and quit for a few months, but added some working out and eating healthy and I lost quite a bit of weight. That was a while ago and I had gone back to my habits and…
  • @emgracewrites I'm sorry you're on the struggle bus. It be like that sometimes. I think you're goal of making it through today is a great one. Sometimes that's all we can ask for. I hope there's more positives coming your way. Hang in there! @themommie That is a lot of stress emotionally and physically to deal with, but…
  • I'm still at it. Almost to 10 days! I totally feel those who mentioned drinking and health toll. I gained 130 lbs (which is why I'm at MFP to begin with) and recently learned I have (re)damaged my liver, but not beyond repair. I'm not taking super drastic measures as of right now, just quitting drinking and eating…
  • I saw that this community is open to new members. My name is Amberly, I'm 29 living in Michigan. I'm a week sober after drinking nearly everyday for 2+ years starting when I was in the military which, obviously, has been horrible for my health. I loved the idea of this group as I've never come across it before. JFT: - I…
  • Hey everyone and most especially Jim. I totally understand and I feel with you. I'm happy to come across this as I was looking for some community that might be trying to or have quit alcohol with a history of struggling. Today marked 7 days sober for me. I use to drink 750 ml a night. In 2021 I detoxed and went to rehab…
  • @aylabradshaw Hello, I just found this group. I've gone alcohol free as of a week ago. Feel free to add me and I'll try to pop in occasionally to check for some discussion if anyone has a topic they'd like to mull over.
  • I sent you a friend request. I'd be happy to support you while you work on losing weight.
  • Just make sure to share a few pictures on MFP after your awesome trip  I feel fairly certain you will indeed succeed.
  • I'll send you a friend request. I'm turning 29 in a couple of weeks, am currently 279, and have a goal weight of 160 (It's a long ways away I know lol). I try to add people to support who will also be supportive to try to keep my head in the game. Wishing you the best regardless! I have been a yo-yoer myself, always…
  • I recommend when looking at pictures and feeling defeated, imagining how wonderful you'll feel physically and mentally when you look back at these pictures after meeting your goals, and when I try to hold this mindset I remind myself that if I let them discourage me now it will be an even longer journey until I get to…
  • Wow I didn't know this about you. That's an incredible strategy. If I had the funds I would absolutely do something like that. I'm excited to already be a friend and witness you achieve your goal.
  • Hey @rebeccamister3010 I am guilty of fudging my calories occasionally because I have a drinking problem I'm trying to get under control so I feel for you there. Being honest though tends to push me in the right direction far better, or I just don't log for that day and turn the other cheek rather than lie and get praise…
  • Also looking for more friends as I shared in my own thread a few days ago. I'm gonna go ahead and send out some friend requests. If I accidentally miss you please feel free to send me one! Also just wanted to add mostly my female friends prefer to keep their diary private, but it is true quite a few of the instant unfriend…
  • @carolinescorpio30 yes you can still add people. I have the free version as well. I did the paid once but at the time it wasn't really worth it. They've since made it so certain features are only available with paid, but on free you still get the tools you need.
