  • Ok well I've recently made these: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/veggie_bean_burgers_for_53280 - they are really good and freeze really well. You can mix up the ingredients a little which is nice. I made mini ones with sweet potato, parsnips, carrots and white kidney beans (I think I got ten out of the recipe) and they…
  • No it doesn't. At all. But it never hurts to check ;) Now this is interesting. Thank you.
  • This was a great read, thanks.
  • Thanks! I think that's the nicest thing I've heard all day! In fact, I'm not sure 'got it together' is a way in which I've ever been described! :*
  • I also like this! And a quick calculation based on my goal weight shows that I'm right about at that intake. Thanks! I think we are on the same page. My TDEE is round about 1600-1700 (day-to-day activity, no workouts). I do eat more when I'm more active - this is a weird week for me because I am not at work (so less…

  • The best tip I ever got was just to commit yourself to 10 mins. Get outside, get warmed up and do ten minutes. If after that you want to stop then at least you tried. I have never felt like stopping after doing the ten minutes.
  • I eat large meals after running in the evening, but I generally have a snack (200cals or less) about an hour beforehand. In the morning, I just get up and run, breakfast when I get back.
  • Thanks everybody for your responses. I really appreciate hearing different opinions - especially when people disagree! It makes me think about all my options. My BMR is only around 1300 calories. I'm short ;) When I'm more active, I do tend to increase my calories.
  • I've got to say, I kind of agree. I don't really eat much in the way of processed foods even when I'm not cutting (the odd cereal bar here and there, maybe some cooked sandwich meat every now and again). I research my food choices a lot (one of the reasons I'm here asking questions) and certainly plan my meals. I'm…
  • Thank you both! I understand that weight loss is CICO - I guess I'm more concerned about making sure I'm also nutritionally balanced. As well as weight loss, I'm thinking about the long-term - I guess it less about 'do I eat too many carbs?' than 'do i eat enough protein/fat?'. Does that make sense? This sounds like me.…
  • Sounds good. Do you have a recipe?
  • What kind of foods do you enjoy? How much effort do you want to put into cooking? I enjoy cooking and can probably recommend a few different recipes, if you give me some more information.
  • Eh, I know a little bit about keto diets...I don't think it's for me. If I was very overweight and had more calories to play with then I would probably give it a go but, I had a little peek at your diary, and trying to stick to 1200 calories eating essentially meat and dairy sounds like I would be hungry all the time. Like…
  • I find veg/beans pretty filling - I guess because you can eat so much for very few calories - but I agree that most carbs just aren't worth the calorie count. What is your protein goal, if you don't mind me asking?
  • Thank you! To be honest, when I go back to work and am more active, I imagine I will eat back more of my exercise calories. The past few days have been mainly sat on my butt, aside from a run in the morning and a walk in the afternoon. I haven't been hungry, so thought it would be a good idea to maximise my deficit and…
  • Haha...this amused me more than is probably normal!
  • I also like Zombies couch to 5k - I find it keeps me exercising (not necessarily running but body moving) for longer than if I was just free running.
  • I keep it on. I set my MFP to sedentary (even though I'm usually at least lightly active) so I don't tend to get too many negatives. I feel it keeps me accountable for what I eat.
  • I am also always over on sugars, but I eat a lot of fruit. As long as it's from healthy sources and you're still under your overall calorie target it's fine.

  • Ooh what a great thread! I really struggle to hit my protein goal - I don't eat eggs and only eat meat once or twice a week. There are some great ideas here - guess I'm gonna have to learn to eat fish! :D
  • I have been eating (well drinking i suppose) loads of smoothies as snacks, as well as for breakfast. If you use veg like cucumber and spinach as a base and then add a little fruit for a flavour boost they are really low in calories and I find they make me feel quite full.

  • Thanks everyone, you have helped me put my mind at rest. Lots of good advice, I appreciate it.
  • Another fantastic idea, thank you so much! I will be out and about so I should have plenty of calories!
  • Thank you all...I was thinking that estimating and using the database to find something close would be better than nothing, it's great to hear it confirmed! Ooh clever! Fabulous idea, thank you.
  • Thank you for your response! I should have been clearer - even when logged in on my PC I still can't see the option. Thanks for the information from the FAQ - I'll go and check it out.
  • Anybody? Have I posted this in the incorrect forum? I have been tracking my activity and keeping an eye on the adjustments from my phone and it does seem to go up and down based on how active it thinks I am but I would still like to know why the option does not appear to be available to me.
