In between commercials do sit to stands for the whole commercial, you get a major body movement by just sitting up out of your chair, do that for a 30 min show & thats 6 mins or so of exercise. Its essentialy a mini squat that engages major muscle groups & will burn more calories without burning you out.

I dont do the gym , I have sets of 18 , 24 & 32 kilogram kettlebells along with a steel mace besides using them I do windsprints & bodyweight stuff.

https://youtu.be/7QxAK0AIIYU i do this as a warm up but have done it 3 times in a row for a good workout, i dont do gyms i do light to heavy kettlebell training @ home, on my lawn in the summer & in my living room when its cold, i got a 4 x 6 yoga matt i used to make sure i dont sweat all over my floor & go at it.

Yeah windsprinting drills would be better like dude said, great for testosterone development, also just big compound movements like cleans, squats & presses is what will benefit him.

Just incorporate exercise in your daily life that you won't notice, take the stairs, stand when you can, a great exercise we do with seniors is the sit to stand, if your watching tv at night, just during the commercials sit out of your chair and sit back down 10 times your basically squatting burning cals without noticing.

I just boil a bunch of eggs Sunday night FCC or the whole week, eat two with one slice of Bacon and a cup of coffee, its around 300 Cal lots of protein little carbs.

I literally stopped using protein powders or anything besides goats milk after my workout, I haven't lost any strength I actually got stronger.
