  • What people say on MFP is irrelevant. Unless the company has paid them, you cannot hold the company responsible for what "some guy on the Internet" said. The Fitbit people and all the other device companies say very plainly that they aren't accurate. It may be in small print, but that is where you have to look if you want…
  • I'm not suggesting that you should ever buy expensive vitamins (especially from iffy sources), but vitamins taken on an empty stomach make many people sick. Fwiw. You learned a lesson the hard way. We've all learned some lesson that way. If that's the dumbest thing you ever do, you'll be a lucky woman. Forget it.
  • I'm always short on potassium, too, and I do track it. I just cannot eat as much as we are supposed to eat. The potassium in my blood is always fine, so I added foods I like with potassium in them and then quit worrying. For what it's worth, most of us are under our recommended amount.
  • I eat healthy foods that I like. Once you get into eating fresh, healthy food you start to like it more than salty junk food. It's more flavorful. It's just better tasting.
  • They're just fun fitness toys. They don't claim to be accurate and I doubt anyone relies on them for anything other than fun. People have been playing with fitness toys for as long as I've been alive. Haven't seen it hurt anyone yet. Some people feel that they're helpful. They're not accurate, so what.
  • Drink water, exercise, cut the protein supplements (powders, bars) if you're using them, eat fruits and veggies, more water and exercise. If you mix up some prune juice, applesauce and milk of mag then warm it a little and drink it down, you'll almost certainly go. You'll probably have a blowout, but you'll go. Dulcolax as…
  • Corn bread is always good. We all have our favorite things to do with it, but there is no bad thing. Always, always good. I'm shocked that you see it so rarely up north. Better that way for them. One less thing to overeat, but how it didn't catch on, I don't know.
  • What is the actual diagnosis? "Not enough carbs" isn't a real diagnosis. If you're still there, ask them what your admitting diagnosis was. If you're out, the diagnosis on your paperwork.

  • It's not the only way to be successful. People have lost and continue to lose weight without logging food. I do it because I like it. I see my calories and all those little micronutrients, so I know where I stand. It gets tedious now and again, but it doesn't seem like a sacrifice because I actually want to do it.
  • We are on the tip of the iceberg with everything in the body. We have only learned enough to know that there is an almost unending amount of things we don't know. Every time we learn something new, it just shows us how much more there is to know, especially regarding the brain. The biggest breakthrough ever basically told…
  • Niles Crane wipes off everything, but he wouldn't be caught dead in a public gymnasium. Other than Niles, I've never seen anyone wipe anything off outside of a gym. That watered-down stuff they use doesn't really sanitize anything, anyway. I've never understood why people take it so seriously, but when in Rome...
  • I am entitled to my opinion just like you. I want everyone to be healthy and eat healthy and a tax will help. You say "sugar" I say "tax"! I'm no longer arguing it, but will voice my opinion. It is brave to voice an unpopular opinion, so I'll take the admiration. And the congratulations when the tax comes. Carry on.
  • Added sugars are bad and should be taxed heavily. People can't just eat added sugars and be allowed to get away with it! That has to end! Must be stopped and the sooner the better. Think of the children eating ice cream and Snicker bars, handed to them, tax-free! It almost makes you want to cry, doesn't it? Bad parents.…
  • It's not a miracle cure. I don't think it will cure actual, clinical depression or any sort of mental illness, but it gives many people (including moi) a lift and is worth a try.
  • Forbidding is forboden. If I feel forbidding forboding, I shall forbear.
  • So many questions about hunger! Eat more food that is lower in calories and you'll stay fuller. Fruits and vegetables, with all that fiber and low-calorie content, will keep you very full.

  • It's pretty rare for me to skip a meal. If I overeat one day, I do. So what, that's life. I'm still losing, so a day here or there doesn't matter much. I don't lose weight that particular day, big whup. This "big whup" philosophy will have to be adjusted when I'm done losing, I know, but for now I just don't care. I'm not…
  • If they live long enough, everyone will have saggy skin. Some of us get it sooner by losing weight. Big deal. How many times in your life have you this about someone else, "My goodness, look at that saggy skin!" For me, it was never. Most people will never notice, much less care. If they do care, they're not the sort of…
  • If you take in little enough, it will work. It won't taste good. It won't keep you full. It won't be as good as eating a healthy diet. But keep the calories low enough and anything will work.

  • If you eat healthier foods, you don't have to worry too much about small portions. You can eat a lot of green beans for few calories. I eat a lot of food. I don't eat a lot of calories. Screw portion control. ;)
  • I dislike the idea of girls needing to be raised a certain way because they're girls and girls require something special if they're to be smart and confident. "Poor little girls, we have to do special things for them or else they'll end up as dingbats because that is what girls naturally do!" It's hogwash of the highest…
  • If you forbid forbidding, is that okay?
  • Nuts and breakfast cereals are easy ways to load up on calories without eating things that are devoid of any benefit. Cheerios aren't very filling and are enriched with vitamins/minerals, plus some fiber.
  • Throw some soy in there.
  • It depends on the person. If you are doing fine without it, why bother?

  • 1. If you fail, you can try, try again. 2. Eating healthier foods gets easier the more you do it. 3. You have to choose: Your health and happiness or your junk food. Pick and quit fretting.
  • Take a look at that 700 or more calories you're eating before lunch and figure out what you can cut. Eat lower calorie foods. Try more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, that kind of thing. Stay full, stay healthy, lose weight and eat a LOT of food.
  • Around the recommended amount (66g for me), but some days less and some more. Probably more Less days than More days, tbh. I wouldn't say that I don't focus on muscles, but I don't do it obsessively. I don't try to build big muscles and I won't follow fads like eat this many calories at these times or eat lots and lots of…
  • Yes, you burn more calories while sick. I'm sure you'd rather be rid of the illness and burn fewer, but maybe it's a small consolation. Like Rice-a-Roni.
