I was diagnosed eight years ago after having half my thyroid removed. Stay on your levothyroxine and it's irrelevant. I just hit goal yesterday -- total loss, 158 lbs. I just follow the MFP recommendations for nutrients.

Wal-mart Equate protein shakes are as good or better than chicken breasts for calories per gram of protein -- 30g protein for 160 calories -- and they have a fair amount of vitamins and minerals. They are my go-to for road trips.

I add a big pinch of MSG powder to my steel-cut oats every morning. And cinnamon and raisins and sucralose and salt. But the MSG has me addicted to my healthy bowl of porridge at home -- restaurants can't compete.
