I was 260 lbs a year ago. Honestly, I wouldn't start with running for weight loss. If you haven't been working out, a 5 minute jog will wipe you out, but not accomplish much in the way of burning calories. I started with the elliptical, at 12 minutes, and gradually added time, working my way up to 60 minute workouts. Since…

Or throw away the scale. Want to weigh less? Move to Mars. You'll be about 40 lbs. Don't be hung up on a number. Track how you feel, how your clothes fit. Or take measurements of waist, hips, arms, etc.

Not much to lose at all. You'll get there. :)

Alrighty.

You know, a pic I hated motivated me to lose weight back in the day. I didn't realize I looked like that. I kept it by my nightstand, and anytime I felt like not working out, I'd pic it up, briefly look it over, and go hit the stair climber for 45 minutes. It worked, and if it works for you, keep a negative picture. And…

Great job! I bet you feel way different too. It's amazing how eating better and moving more (and losing weight) can improve your outlook so much. I also did 1200 - 1500 when starting, and also lost 2lbs/wk. I was only hungry right before meals, and could otherwise drown it in water until mealtime. Same approach too; find…

Water and muscle. This is why I only weigh once a week. It evens out the BS fluctuations like this. Keep at it. You'll probably drop 10 in the next week.

To make it easier to read, adjust the text size of everything on the screen. In the top of the browser, go to "Tools" or the little gear icon. Hit that and look at "Zoom," go from 100% up to whatever is easy on your eyes, say 120% or so probably.

It isn't the only thing we should be doing, but it is pretty great on its own. http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2013/04/10/an-amazing-new-prescription-medication/ (yes, the link is about walking)

Welcome! I'll add ya. 2lbs/week is a great idea. Just keep in mind that you're in it for the long haul. It will take months of work before your friends, family, and co-workers will notice. Don't get discoraged, don't focs on the number. Do it for yourself and the way you feel. Start slow, don't burn out, don't starve…

Sure, you can't out exercise a bad diet. I had a 500 calorie shake yesterday, hit the gym and burned 450 calories on an elliptical in 45 minutes. I could have gone harder/longer I suppose, but the point is if I ate 4000 calories a day, I would have to run a marathon every day to lose weight. Diet control is the…

Welcome! Added. Sounds like you know why you want to be healthier. Just take it slow and keep going, and you WILL get there. :)

Huh. I looked at your pics and first thought was "dang, she's hot." ha.... But no exercise is not a good lifestyle, so it probably is time to hit the gym. Just remember weight is a bulls**t number that doesn't mean anything. You could lose fat and gain muscle, and be the same weight, but WAY healthier. Don't do this for a…

Welcome. I've found mfp buddies add accountability and keep me on track.

^I've wanted to roast my own, but I'm afraid I'd burn them or otherwise mess them up.
-
Already have....
-
Dang. Took me 4.5 months to lose that much. Great job!

^Depending on settings, you might have to be friends with them to view food diary. (added as friend. encouraging buddies seem to help too)

Already have.

Keep at it. Log every single day. Try to move more than you used to every single day. It WILL come off.

Same problem. Protein shakes as meal replacements left me with 45 minutes in the bathroom, and nothing. Got mad and put 5 drops of peppermint and 5 drops of basil essential oils in a glass of water (don't do that). Actually tasted kinda nice.... Anyway, 20 minutes later, I wasn't constipated. It was like that scene from…

Like all things: yes & no. I know a vegetarian that is unhealthy. All she eats is chips, candy, and garbage like that. Meat can be total crap, like high sodium processed sausage junk. It can also be grilled salmon. The longest lived people on earth eat veggies and fish, and do a lot of walking and gardening (I forget the…

That's why you pee. Normally, that's how you detox. Don't pay for it.

You're gonna have to make more stuff at home, and in general eat healthier all around. Most processed meats are out, and I'm specifically thinking lunch meat and sausage, as they are ridiculous. You'll have to look harder to find low sodium meats, but they are out there. I've even seen a ham roast that was about 150mg a…

I've noticed syncing issues too. I use MFP on desktop, droid, and windows phone, and Up on droid and WP. The info is laggy until I got through a few screens on MFP, home, to diary, to nutrients, and then it usually has updated MFP info to correct Up info. And there is absolutely a difference between phone steps and Up…

Fast food made me do it. We ate Chick Fil'A one night, just a regular nuggets, fries, lemonade. I felt like garbage afterwards. Looked up the nutrition info on their site and realized I had eaten an entire day's worth of calories, fat, sugar, and sodium. "I am getting healthy!" I thought. Not as a weight loss deal, or even…

Stop giving a crap about summer. Or even weight or binges. It's May. There's nothing you can do in a month that will get you fit by summer. All you can do is slow and steady improvement. Take the pressure off and focus on small goals. Lose a pound this week. Do that and have some ice cream. Lose another pound the next…

I had great results, but wouldn't use it again. I was 20 and and dumb, and stuck on base overseas with nothing to do in my free time but workout. I had lifted every semester of high school, but had only increased strength, not bulk at all. I did the loading phase for six weeks (stupid), and my kidneys hurt. Still, I seemed…
