No one advocated being miserable or doing anything that can make you miserable. A few of us pointed out that there is promising new research about potential benefits outside of weight loss. No one stated that the research that has been done was anything magic, just that it had been conducted and the results. Also, no one…

I lost hair when I was under eating

All of those not so new things you are excited about were new once with minimal promising research which prompted more research. In the end we should all do what works for us but dismissing promising new research for the sole purpose that more still needs to be done is silly. No one will argue more research should still be…

I did 16:8 for years with my window from 2-10pm. I’ve never been a breakfast eater so it was easy for me to adjust to. I normally got hungry around 11-12 so I was just learning to wait a little longer to eat. I stopped doing it when I started running before work a few days a week. I don’t eat before I run but am starving…

I read the entire thing. There is more research being done in humans now as also stated in the article. Did you read it? In addition to the benefits regarding insulin there have also been noted improvements in blood pressure - even for those with no weight change. While more research is needed this is promising. The…

“Based on this, researchers from the University of Alabama conducted a study with a small group of obese men with prediabetes. They compared a form of intermittent fasting called “early time-restricted feeding,” where all meals were fit into an early eight-hour period of the day (7 am to 3 pm), or spread out over 12 hours…

For weight loss IF is just another way to manage calories. There is growing research though around additional health benefits of this way of eating not related specifically to weight. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/intermittent-fasting-surprising-update-2018062914156

I had to stop lifting heavy a few months ago per my PT. I had developed severe muscle imbalance and inflammation issues from not taking enough recovery time after injuries. I definitely don’t feel as strong and feel a little “fluffier”. I still do Jazzercize and trail run so the different isn’t dramatic though

My comment was directed at the OP only and take on the thread. So sorry if that was unclear.

My doctor looks at frame size, BMI, hip/waist ratio, and lipid profile. BMI is only a part of the equation when looking at overall health. That said there is an entire overweight range on the BMI chart between normal and obese. It’s much more likely someone can be healthy and at low health risk in the overweight category…

I have this happen all the time. I don’t worry about it since I know fluctuations are normal.

Last night was pasta night...today I’m up 4.5lb lol

I trail run alone and sometimes early morning so I carry a taser. There are a lot of homeless who camp in or near the state park where I run and after an incident it became necessary

I had always thought I was 5’7” in my 20s but when I was first pregnant with my son the doctor confirmed that I was in fact 5’8”...of course by the end of my pregnancy I was back down to 5’7.5” which is my current height. My arches completely collapsed leaving me flat footed and making me a little shorter. I think posture…

So C25K would have had you at an easy steady 5k run last week if the program had been followed, starting June 23rd. To be running double that now already still looks like too much too soon. I personally would be concerned about shin splints and soft tissue inflammation increasing that quickly. I run 2-3 days a week and…
-
You said you started C25K on June 23rd and you are now already running twice that distance. That is an 8-9 week training program though. Did you take any rest days at all? The program is designed to help you build your runs at a healthy pace gradually. Did you run at all before starting? It sounds like too much too soon…

I stopped doing IF when I started running more. For me it didn’t work. I do run early morning most of the time fasted but I need to eat within about 2hr of finishing my run or else I’m too hungry to focus on my day. You’ll just need to try it and see if it works for your body I think

I have to disagree, as does my doctor. When I smoked cigarettes I had chronic bronchitis and high blood pressure. I vape now at 3-6mg low dose nicotine and have low blood pressure and no signs of bronchitis at all.

Nicotine is a stimulant. It will take a little time for your body to adjust to not having it.

Same. I work out after work then shower when I get home. I grew up in serious drought and we are always at risk of another here. I try to be constantly conscious of my water usage.
-
When I first started running again my goal was 5k in under 30min. I used the C25K app. I ran 3-4 days a week. I personally think the best way to improve on anything is through regular practice.

I’m 39. I started peri-menopause at 35. No other women in my family started that young but it happens. I had no symptoms other than highly irregular periods for the first year. Id go 3-4 months between periods then sometimes have 2 in the same month (still do). I’d recommend getting your hormones checked to be sure. Now,…

The good thing about smaller breasts is they aren’t likely to sag much. Mine used to be 36C now I wear a 36A or 34B after losing but they don’t sag - and I’m a mom who breastfed and is almost 40. I think you will be fine. If you are really worried doing strength exercises to build up your chest muscles under the breast can…

I am so glad I started this thread. It’s really reassuring to me to see that there are so many of us who can relate to this.

This. I was diagnosed a few years after my son was born and it took 3yr of doctors appointments and labs to get a proper diagnosis. If you are 100% positive your logging is accurate you should see a doctor

Agreed. You do not stop losing weight because you are eating too little, especially not short term. If that were possible than anorexics would be overweight. They are not. As someone in recovery for an eating disorder I never gained or stopped losing when I was in my disorder.

I will absolutely update as I go

I’ve never been able to eat right after I wake up. I start my day with black coffee. I get hungry depending on my activity. If I’ve worked out that morning or if the day before I ran I usually get hungry around 11-12, other days not until 2ish.

While I feel good at my current weight I did decide to go back to a deficit temporarily to drop 10 more lbs. I just want more of a cushion to always stay in my BMI range. That’s the great thing about this journey and process - we can adjust our goals at any time 🙂
