to those of you who gave advise Thanks. To those of you who are holier than thou & snarky please go away

I've used both and have found Runkeeper to be the better of the 2 Apps

13 weeks should be plenty of time. You should also consider the run/walk method by Jeff Galloway. A lot of runners (me included) will often walk for periods during long runs. Good luck.

I started running when I was 40lbs more than I am now. It's a great way to lose weight and feel better. When I started I did more walking than running but now I can do 5 miles without walking. My motto is do it for yourself and don't give a damn about people who want to laugh at you. They are the insecure ones

I have a Vivoactive HR which works very well with running as well as all activities. It also tracks steps and plays well with MFP with the Garmin Connect app
-
I also discovered running earlier this year. So far with diet workouts and running I have lost 50 lbs. I run about 12 miles a week and I am in the best health I have ben in 20 years. Keep on going.

This is my 1st monthly challenge but I have a 5K & a 5 mile Turkey Trot in Nov. I'm going for 50 miles

I have had the Vivosmart HR & I am now using the Vivoactive HR. I upgraded to the Vivoactive HR because it has more for running. So far both have worked flawlessly. I would highly recommend the Garmin

I have the Garmin Vivoactive HR and love it. It is great for running as it maps your course tracks you splits, etc. It also is great for tracking regular workouts. As with all fitness trackers just make sure you take the calories burn with a grain of salt.
-
Go for it. I did my 1st 5K two weeks ago and the feeling of accomplishment is wonderful. I'm planning on doing one in Oct & 1 in Nov. Every run has all types of participants, runners joggers, walkers, etc. The race I did have times from just over 20 minutes to well over an hour. Good luck

I'm a believer in Fitlist. Lots of versatility and it is easy to use. I track all my workouts with it, both cardio and weights.
-
Did my 1st 5K last weekend. Like you I do a lot of my training on the treadmill. As far as I am concerned, runiing is whatever speed works for you. Remember, the only person you have to impress is yourself.

I've been overweight most of my life. My goal is to lose 55 lbs and keep it off. It's going slowly but this time I am incorporating lifestyle changes and tracking them to make them habits.
