  • Here are two recent meals for you... The first was yesterday's breakfast: bacon-wrapped asparagus with poached eggs. The cook went a little overboard with the hollandaise, but it was tasty. The second was tonight's dinner: a small "Keto Philly" from the local sub shop. Soooo good.
  • I tend to just do chicken thighs and low carb veggies in broth, but tried this one several weeks ago and found it really enjoyable. Not sure what the exact carb count is...I stopped logging there for awhile. https://simplemommablog.wordpress.com/2013/04/03/low-carb-taco-soup/
  • I asked my dermatologist about this directly. She said sagging is best mitigated by nutrients that are ingested, not applied topically. She told me to keep drinking water, add a high-quality collagen powder and a silica supplement, and have a lot of patience.
  • Virginia, USA Started in mid-July, no slip ups through mid-September, down 14 pounds. The last two weeks have been another story...stress has definitely gotten the better of me. I plan on buckling back down after our big family gathering this weekend, though!
  • I've been out of control the last few weeks. Definitely stressed, but I need to get a grip. Thanks for posting this. Knowing I'm not alone makes me feel like I can get back on the horse.
  • I just take a multi and a probiotic in the morning, and a magnesium tablet at night. (These normally live in the fridge, but the bathroom lighting was better.)
  • When I'm in a rush, I grab a rotisserie chicken or steamed shrimp from the seafood counter. If I'm really rushed and don't want to wait for the clerk to cook the shrimp, I'll just grab one of the shrimp cocktail rings that they have in the refrigerated case and ditch the carb-laden sauce. There's also a brand of tuna…
  • My go-to is seafood with a veggie side, but I've also had luck with these options: Fast Food: The grilled chicken at KFC is wonderful. Same skin and seasonings as their fried chicken, just none of the breading. The breasts can sometimes be dry, but if you order legs or thighs you'll be rewarded with a crispy outside and a…
  • Insects. Farmed insects are supposed to be the "food of the future" because they're so nutritious and so environmentally friendly. I don't think I'll be able to do it. I'm a pretty adventurous eater, but the thought of toasted mealworms on my salad or a muffin made from roasted cricket flour just grosses me out.
  • You can't convince some people. My 75-year-old father thinks I'm totally nuts. But he also thinks margarine is better for you than butter. I know this works for me. I feel better, I look better, and my ADD symptoms are dramatically reduced. I just try to live my life and not advertise my food choices to the naysayers. I…
  • Oooh, I would love a little yogurt. I don't usually keep any in the house, but I can run up the street and get a small container of Greek yogurt. Thank you, @tcunbeliever.
  • It was all over the news a few years ago. Here are two (of many) links about the research: http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20140917/artificial-sweeteners-blood-sugar#1 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ Of course, there are also studies out there refuting these claims. I personally drink water/club soda…
  • I haven't tried riced cauliflower in any Italian-style dishes, but I really like florets with a little pasta sauce and melted mozzarella. I bet it would be great in a dish with sausage or meatballs. The only thing I would caution is to cook it separately and then add the sauce, cheese, etc and just broil to melt it all…
  • Amazing and inspiring! Congratulations!
  • So many in the Vancouver area! (Lucky ducks.) I'm currently living in coastal Virginia. Recently moved down here after more than a decade in New England. Born and raised in the Garden State, though. What county are you in, @KenSmith108? I grew up in East Brunswick and spent summers at my grandparents house in Ship Bottom.…
  • I do. At least I think I do. I've taken a separate 500mg magnesium supplement every night for years (for leg cramps/restlessness). Do you think 500mg/day is enough or do I need more than that on LCHF? I'm not crazy about overly-salty main dishes, but I do like pickles/olives, and I love the idea of just swallowing…
  • I've used the liquid drops, but find them too sweet for coffee. I either drink it with just cream or make BPC (which I find really delicious), but going without sweetener definitely took some getting used to. My mom adds cinnamon to the grounds before brewing and the taste is really lovely. You might want to give that a…
  • This is very helpful information, @KnitOrMiss! Thank you. I'm going to pick up some L-Theanine this week. Reading through this thread, I've realized that my sodium intake is WAY too low. I set my target at 1500mg (the current AHA guideline) and usually end up in the 2000-2300mg range each day. I had an insane headache last…
  • Hey, Sadie! You might want to join the Low Carb Forum...lots of great threads over there: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group
  • I've noticed this, too. (Only I'm asleep around 930-10 and wide awake at 3 or 4AM.) I didn't even think about tweaking my macros...that's a great idea. For now, I've been having some success with melatonin and magnesium supplements. On days I take them, I can stretch my wake up time to about 530ish.

  • Friends, after hearing y'all rave about it for six weeks, this thread finally inspired me to make a Fathead pizza. WOW. So easy, so filling, so good. <3 For toppings, I only used a little tomato sauce and the 1/4 cup of cheese leftover from making the crust. Next time I'm totally throwing veggies on there...
  • I ruin poached eggs every time. I've read that you can do it in a microwave, but I have yet to attempt it: http://www.bonappetit.com/test-kitchen/inside-our-kitchen/article/for-perfectly-poached-eggs-the-microwave-is-your-friend
  • The campfire ban is a bummer. I have a GoSun and its AWESOME. I know it doesn't help you out right now, but it's incredibly versatile, so I figured I'd give it a plug: https://www.gosunstove.com/ If I was in your situation right now, I'd cook some chicken in advance and bring cheese, hard boiled eggs, nuts/pumpkin seeds,…
  • That is BRILLIANT! I make chicken thighs all the time. I'm totally adopting this trick. Thank you! <3
  • Not sure about the candies, but I have tried the Atkins Cookie's & Cream bar. It was delicious. Unfortunately, it bumped me out of ketosis and induced terrible sugar cravings for 12 hours afterwards. Guess I'm one of the unlucky ones that's sensitive to sugar alcohols...I gave the rest of the box away. :|
  • @LemonMarmalade Agreed. I sometimes wonder if having my first name/photo on there is too much. I can say that I don't actually live in Ohio. I changed it when I realized you could search members by state. My ex's new love interest is a bit of a web stalker and my weight struggles are the LAST thing I want her to have…
  • I didn't want to use my regular Facebook/Instagram/Twitter handle because I wanted a little anonymity on here. My first name is Celia, my last name starts with a "C", and I work in oceanography so I figured "CeliaSea" would be appropriate. :)
  • Hi. I try to post daily and have 80+ left to go. Feel free to add me.
