Ran 5 today. I usually do a long run on one of the weekend days. This weekend is very busy. I had a bunch of work projects to do, a relay marathon tomorrow and a painter coming on Monday. I need to remove furniture, clothing etc. from the room that the painter is going to paint. I generally do not try to make up missed…

Great QOTD! My running club friends & I have been concerned with rising race fees. A couple of weeks ago, the 10K we did charged $50 for "day of" registration. To us, that seemed too high. I consider the cost per mile, the amenities (i.e. free beer?), and if it is for a charitable cause.

Run 5.2 this morning. Sadly the heat was on in the house at 5am as it was under 40f outside. My dream destination marathon is in Ireland on the Dingle Peninsula. It's on the bucket list.

I've done my share of big city marathons including NYC, Phili, MCM and Boston. Lately I've favored smaller marathons. It seems like the logistics are easier and they are less expensive. Also, it is easier to run my goal pace when I don't have to bob & weave to pass people.

That stinks, sorry to hear RSP. I had pneumonia once & will never forget the feeling of sweating because I was hot and shivering from being cold at the same time. That and getting a call from work asking if I was contagious when I was in the office.

You've come to the right place. Are you doing weight watchers or another plan of some kind?

I run regularly with my running clubs. Over the years, we have had coaches run with us. Their comments generally are that we run our regular runs too slow and our long runs too fast. I think that they are right, except that the regular run pace seems fine to me. I've developed many long term friendships with people I've…

I'll listen to music when I'm running alone. I graduated high school in 1977. I like to listen to Journey, most country, blues & lately Run-DMC. I'm late to rap, but it keeps me moving.

I ran in the dark this weekend. I was part of a 12 runner team competing in RTB Ragnar in New Hampshire. It is a 200ish mile race from Brenton Woods to Hampton Beach NH. Each runner does 3 legs of roughly 2 four milers and a 9 or 10 mile leg. My 9 mile leg started at 3am on Saturday. I was dreading this part, but it turned…

I agree about ideal temp around 50 deg.. I've been doing this for awhile and with marathon training we go out pretty much regardless of the weather. So I've run in -20f up to mid 90s. Obviously running when it's 50 is way more fun.

I try to do Bikram Yoga weekly, figuring that it covers the stretching. Also I try to lift twice a week. If I can do both of these things,(and be a bit lucky) I seem to be able to avoid the injuries that some of my running friends my age get. The plan is to do a 10mile training run on Saturday, 5k race (& beer) on Sunday…

I usually get 300 - 350 miles out of a pair of running shoes. Lately I've been wearing Hoka one ones which are maximalist shoes. I actually get more miles out of Hoka Cliftons so even though the are expensive, I can get nearly 500 miles out of them.

Are you a currently a member? Yes- Lifetime. I attend meetings 2 or 3 times a month (for free) Has the SmartPoints program affected your membership status decision? No, but I think it's stupid. I am using old school WW Points Log where I record water, fruits/veg, dairy, activity. I frankly don't know how anyone looses…

For the first time in 10 years, I will not be doing a fall marathon. In order for me to run a marathon time that I'd be happy with, I'd need to loose 10 - 15 pounds. So rather than train for a marathon, I'm going to stay with varied workouts including running, lifting, bike riding & yoga and re-commit to WW to loose that…
