mini goal: break into the 170s for the first time in 15 years. I've been bouncing around in the 180s since last summer (going up into the 190s over the holidays) but I'm at 180 now :) Hoping to be solidly in the 170s at next weigh-in

My size 14 jeans are fitting much better and today I easily tightened my belt another hole :)

Second ride of the month and loved every minute of it. Why did I ever stop? 02/18/17 10 miles, 46 minutes 02/21/17 12.7 miles, 1:05 minutes

I've got a garmin but haven't made any connections, everyone feel free to add me as well :) user name is Sijae

12 step programs can really work for some people. All the groups are going to be different. If a particular group is advocating a particular way of eating this is not related to OA as a 12 step program, it's particular to the group. I went to OA meetings for a while in CO and then for a short time in OR, very very…

Elliptical changed my life by making it convenient to get exercise no matter what. It's much more comfortable for my body and is better for posture/body mechanics than treadmill I think. Also I can do elliptical even when I am dealing with back or neck problems which has really helped with staying on track. So I highly…

Of course it does come down to overall calories but the OPs problem is feeling too hungry at the right number of calories, and thus suggesting she avoid all processed sugary foods makes sense in order to maximize the nutritive value of the food. Filling up those calories with bulky low calorie vegetables and low calorie…

Another thing to share, when I started this, walking for exercise was excruciating with the pain in my feet, jogging was impossible, and getting a mile walked in 20 minutes was a struggle. I've been mostly exercising on the elliptical but recently I started walking outside more and I find I want to jog because walking is…

The last few days whenever I catch sight of myself in the mirror wearing my workout clothes I actually like what I see! Still quite the pooch of belly when I look at my profile but it doesn't make me want to die, and facing the mirror I see a surprisingly shapely person and surprisingly narrow hips and thighs :) I also…

First I was dealing with back issues and then had some neck trouble but finally got out on my bike this month and enjoyed it so much! :D So, I made a slight inroads into my Feb. goal, which I think was 50 miles: 02/18/17 10 miles, 46 minutes

I do most of my exercise on the elliptical in my living room while my road bike sits right there next to me neglected. I needed a reason to get back out on the road and just found this thread  I've been having some back problems but I'm going to take a stab at a goal and shoot for 50 miles this month.

I added in a protein supplement too because I was having a hard time getting in enough protein for my deficit/exercise/strength training and I am trying to combat muscle loss while I lose. I tried a bunch of single-use packs from the store in a variety of liquids. My favorite combination, one that I drink every morning, is…

I've had my garmin viviactive hr for a couple of months and have worn it continuously except for charging. I absolutely love it including the heart rate function. It has really helped me stay on track and start meeting my goals. The step counter is accurate for me and the calorie burns are much more realistic. The battery…

I use my elliptical about an hour a day. I am careful about my form, standing straight upright rather than slouching. I pick my heels slightly off the pedals as the pedal comes up and then drive down with my thighs on the way down, this keeps my center of balance low and prevents me from using my arms to make it easier. I…

I work out (usually elliptical) right after waking. I usually don't eat until afterward (I get nauseous exercising after eating) but I play it by ear and if I feel particularly starving or worn out I'll take a few swallows of something to tide me over.

Good for you! I'm 3.5 years post soda :) I've always found that food effects like that go away within a few days to a week.

You all can add me: HW 255, CW 184, GW 120 (but also my goal is about fitness and strength, so it may be higher than that if I manage to do some strength training). I'd like to be a size six pants/small top or less. That's what I used to be before marriage, work, babies, and compulsive eating got me here.

I hated mushrooms, olives, and onions as a kid and now they are my favorite foods. I used to not be able to eat anything spicier than mild picante sauce and now I order extra spicy. My point? I'm sure it's true that those are the foods that satisfy you and make you happy now, and I'm sure that <2000 seems like an…

they have less protein but the only bars I occasionally eat are clif bars, particularly cool mint or chocolate brownie

I've gone down 2 sizes in the last 55lbs, the second size just switched today!

I don't think that's how the negative calorie adjustment is supposed to work anyway. It says it is for when your device (iphone) calculates that your calorie burn is LESS than MFP's estimate. Your phone is showing a positive adjustment, meaning its calculation says you burned MORE than MFP. The program takes into account…

Sometimes the best or only way to avoid eating something is to not be around it in the first place. "Will power" includes making choices that minimize risk and temptation. Your home should be a sanctuary where you don't have to work so hard. Partners should respect one another to not have things in the house at all that…

Actually it is the same thing, and stopping drugs and alcohol are also a simple fix of just stoping. The hard part is doing it, and that goes for many different kinds of addiction, including food.

my BMI started out at around 45 (yikes!) I knew I was obese, but mapmyfitness had additionally categories and put me in obese category 3 - that was shocking. Now I am down to a BMI at 33 and stile obese but just around the corner from overweight. Even though BMI is not the only indicator, I am looking forward to getting it…

This. having a lot of bans is counter-productive for me because then I start to feel hemmed in, but I also just need to not even start with some things because it's harder to stop after one bite than after none - hence the slogan "Bet you can't eat just one" Lay's potato chip
-
I have a flat out ban on soda and have for 3 years. While I don't have a "ban" on other foods, I haven't had a candy bar in years (including halloween!) and I rarely eat chips or other empty calories foods. This is mostly because these foods are not only high calorie, but more importantly they make me want to eat a lot of…

Soda used to be a trigger food for me and now I'm 3 years soda-free. I just have to completely avoid those foods. I don't think it's useful to frame it in terms of will-power, that's just a recipe for feeling bad since there is so much blame and criticism of people who don't measure up to other people's ideas of it.…

I took Wellbutrin for depression (twice) and found that it reduced my appetite and also helped eliminate compulsive eating behaviors like continuing to eat when full or talking oneself into eating when not hungry or eating things one had already decided not to have (it was designed as an anti-smoking drug after all). I had…
