  • I had two glasses of wine last night, but I was able to stop for a long time between work a cup of strong hibiscus tea.
  • Try lentil chili. Just boil one lb of lentils with whatever chili seasoning mix you like, and use it the same as normal chili. You can add onion and a can of diced tomatoes if you want. This is especially good over fried yellow polenta (really easy and inexpensive to make yourself from plain yellow corn meal)
  • I love canned mustard and turnip greens. Ill eat the whole can with some hot sauce, or marinara. One can has about 90 calories, 9 grams of protein, and 12 grams of fiber. I also eat those toddler squeeze things. I love the Apple/fig/kale one, and the pumpkin ancient grains one. They have about 100 calories, don’t require…
  • The more you use a seasoned skillet, the better it gets. I’ve had my black steal for about ten years. I barely have to use any oil to fry with it now. Somethings are best cooked with just enough oil to coat the pan. I haven’t tried the new preseasoned cast iron. It might be better.
  • I make a mango/turmeric/black pepper smoothie. It’s cold, but it has a warm spicy taste. I guess a warm smoothie is kind of a soup. There are lots of veggie based soups.
  • Have you heard of black steal? You season it, like cast iron, but it’s thinner, about like stainless. It’s perfect for omelettes, potatoes, eggs, and crepes.
  • That was how I understood what you said. The original post was in reference to added cooking oils. Not sure why everyone thought you were saying we don’t need any fats at all lol!
  • This is a sort of recipe for black bean patties that you can freeze and keep on hand. They cook in about five mins. I use them a lot, and they are great in wraps. Even my son’s friends, and my meat loving boyfriend likes them. Cook 2lbs black beans until think and mushy. I cook them w cumin, chili powder, and onion. Cool…
  • I love the Eat to Live book, and I strive to follow the philosophy of getting the most nutrition per calorie. I’ve been able to adjust for the long term by eating whatever (within reason) when I go out to eat, or have dinner at a friend’s house. Everyone has their thing, so you can adjust without throwing out all of the…
  • One of my favorite snacks while breastfeeding was an apple, cut in half, smeared w peanut butter, and dipped in rolled oats and raisins. Someone here suggested a sort of cookie made from peanut butter mashed w oats, and maple syrup. I form it into a patty and put it in the fridge, then I cut it into chunks. Coconut cream…
  • whichever you find most satisfying per the amount. Sesame oil is cool bc it has such a strong flavor. I don’t cook w much oil bc I like to have avocados, coconut cream, salad dressing, and nuts.
  • Just move forward. We talk about days and weeks here, but weight is gained, lost, and maintained, through years.
  • If you don’t already, look at everything you are thinking about putting in your cart, and consider what they call a portions size, and how much you will actully probably eat. Look for alternatives, and pick based on nutrition. Don’t bring anything into your home that you shouldn’t eat for your diet. If you know you will…
  • Celebrate change, but not with food. Get yourself monthly massages, plan a trip, or take a day off work to do your own thing.
  • Great idea, if you can get the planted ones!
  • I do get hit on a lot. I think it’s bc I smile a lot and seem friendly. I’m one of those ppl who feels like it’s my job to make the ppl around me more comfortable. I think it spills over to my mannerisms. I try to be demure ab how I carry myself, and not look around at random men tho.
  • Our budgie is copying the kissing sounds I make to my cats.
  • We have a great lower alcohol thread going somewhere around here. I’m a mom, but I’m not sure I really count bc I just have one and he’s 13 now.
  • Unless you are saving your extra calories for wine (like I do) then it doesn’t matter, as long as you are happy with whatever macros and nutrients you are tracking.
  • That’s still a pretty jacked up reason to laugh in someone’s face. Thank you to anyone who bothered to ask for clarification and didn’t just mock me.
  • I was bad. I had peanut butter kisses and sopapillas for lunch.
  • Interesting. That’s not too far off from what I figured. Between 1000-1200 not counting exercise. I only work three or four day a week at work, and it really is a work out, if it’s a busy day. I think it might balance out with the lazing around I do on days off though. I just recently joined a gym, which is why I got back…
  • Today, I went by my local vfw and looked into joining. I’ve never been in one, but I like to play pool. I’m kinda new to my area, and I’d like some more connection here.
  • I always have mustard greens, and usually marinara and olives. I don’t always have mushrooms. I’ll substitute frozen spinach, add canned chick peas, and sautéed onion. Stuff like that.
