  • If using turmeric in a smoothie, you may want to note that it will not absorb as well as in supplement form. There are some brands in supplement form also sold as a powder that you can blend into a smoothie. One key to look for is a hydro-soluble form for the absorption. Or, add a fat source as well for better absorption.

  • Another note on turmeric which some have mentioned using one with a black pepper extract, or BioPerine is that turmeric forms that are hydro-soluble will absorb even better.
  • Perhaps you can also ask your doctor about natural supplements such as turmeric/curcumin as mentioned. And, forms that are hydro-soluble will absorb better.
  • Ditto for turmeric for overall joint support, and forms that are hydro-soluble absorb better.
  • Yes! And, forms of turmeric that are hydro-soluble absorb better.
  • One other thing to note about turmeric that may be supportive is that forms that are hydro-soluble absorb better. There are many challenges with turmeric absorbing in the intestinal tract.
  • One other thing to note if using turmeric is that there are challenges with absorption. Forms that are hydro-soluble absorb better.
  • Sorry to hear about what you are going through. Have you considered any other anti-inflammatory support supplements in the meantime?
  • If considering turmeric, a form that is hydro-soluble absorbs better.
  • A turmeric that is hydro-soluble for better absorption.
  • You might also consider a water and fat-soluble CoQ10. There is some research that suggests it may support PCOS: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/cen.13288/full
  • In addition, you might also consider CoQ10 for PCOS support. It is often used for fertility support, and there is also some research on it regarding PCOS.
  • Yes, and turmeric is one that may be better absorbed in supplement form vs food form.
  • You may also want to look into the absorption of all of your supplements. For example. turmeric absorbs better in a hydro-soluble form. Some BCAAs may contain more fillers than others. And, magnesium citrates or glycinates are also better absorbed. Good luck!

  • One other thing to note is that there are some side effects if on cholesterol medication. For example, you may want to speak to your doctor about lowering CoQ10 levels when on a cholesterol medication like a statin. The reason to bring this up is because CoQ10 is an antioxidant, and if this is depleted will lower the…

  • Have you also considered CoQ10 or ubiquinol for fertility support?
  • Turmeric in supplement form absorbs better since formulations can be made to include black pepper extracts or use hydro-soluble forms. Turmeric as a spice in food has poor solubility in its natural state.
  • Have you considered any supplements for support?
  • For CoQ10, a water and fat-soluble form will absorb better. In general, some research suggests it may support brain health: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15728298
  • What types of supplements have you all tried?
  • In addition, if you are taking "cholesterol pills" or statins, you may want to speak with your doctor about side effects. One side effect is that statins can lower CoQ10 levels in the body and this can result in symptoms/side effects.
  • Another thought is to look into working with a Registered Dietitian that understands PCOS and can work with you on a diet and lifestyle plan specific to you. They can also help guide you on supplement recommendations.
  • At this point, more research is needed to determine whether dietary cholesterol alone raises blood cholesterol. The tricky part is that foods high in dietary cholesterol are also often high in saturated fats and a diet higher in saturated fats is associated with higher blood cholesterol levels. This is why it’s currently…
  • Qunol Ubiquinol for an antioxidant and exercise support
  • Ditto for CoQ10. One thing to note is that a form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better. For magnesium, this is another one that you may want to look into the absorption. A citrate or glycinate often absorbs better.
  • All supplements should be tailored to you depending on your needs. Always speak with your own healthcare professional or a Registered Dietitian who can help you decide which supplements will be safe and effective for you. CoQ10 is one that is better absorbed in a water and fat-soluble form, and can be helpful for those who…
  • Have you thought about turmeric for overall joint health support? Here is some research about the spice: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5003001/
  • Another mention for turmeric! Research suggests turmeric may help to support joint health! Turmeric is better absorbed in a supplement form that uses a hydro-soluble technology (not all supplements are created equally). Either way, you will want to check with your doctor. If you are thinking about fine tuning your eating,…
  • You’re right about the absorption of turmeric! It is better absorbed with the black pepper extract. Another option is to look for a turmeric supplement that uses a water dispersion technology to help it absorb even better.
