5 miles, Forbidden Forest. 93 out of 165 done.

Did an easy 5 miles on the trails this morning. My Mizuno Wave Kazans are starting to wear holes on the upper, so I grabbed my wife's Hoka trail shoes (yes, we wear the same size shoe  ). She has some physical limitations that are preventing her from trail running and these shoes are nearly brand new. They didn't…

re: Forum changes. 1. I've been through a handful of similar changes. Nobody likes everything, you get some cool new features and everyone forgets about the old format after about a month. 2. Android has 73% of the worldwide market share. How can you not test on that platform before you go to production? Saturday: I did 6…

5 easy miles on the RTP trails. Warming back up. 64F at 8AM. 63.9 out of 165 complete.

I can't stand it when technology tries to make it "easier" for me. I should have the option to type the markup that I want in addition to the UI menu. Dumb. Anyway, 8 miles today with 6x15 second strides, 60 second recovery. Overall pace was 9:25 per mile. 58.8 out of 165 done.

Yesterday was my rest day. Today, 5.2 miles through the Forbidden Forest. Perfect 45°F. 50.8 miles of the 165 mile goal.

Hello Standard Time! 5 miles, all on the forbidden trails. 45.7 out of 165 complete.

A little over 5 trail miles at Fred Bond Park. 40.7 for the week 40.7 out of 165 for the month. Now, brunch!

Very interesting. Funny how we become a slave to our devices and their data. Have you considered doing a few runs in the cold and not looking at it and just running by PLE?

Switched my long run to today so my bride and I can go to brunch tomorrow. We had to make a reservation. That is so foreign to us. When we lived in Carlsbad, we could go to just about anywhere in Encinitas, Leucadia or Carlsbad and get a table within 15 minutes or less. This reservation thing has really hampered our brunch…

And today, pseudo winter has arrived. Woke up to a brisk 34°F. My SoCal wife swore she would perish is she had to leave the house. I, on the other hand, love running in cold weather. So, I donned my shorts, threw on a base layer and technical top, grabbed my hat and gloves and out the door I went. Headed over…

I think I forgot to post yesterday, so here is the recap: Wednesday: Easy 5.5 miles, combination of DG path around the lake, a little road and some RTP trails. Today: 7.5 miles, easy effort with 6x12 second strides, 1:00 jog recovery. <-- This is one of my favorite types of workouts. I LOVE to run fast and get the legs…

5 glorious miles getting lost on the forbidden Apple trails. 5 out of 165 complete. It's going to be a close one with November travel.

After last month's discussion about race shirts, it got me to thinking (scary, I know) about my shirts. So, my question is as follows: What is the oldest race shirt that you still posses (with picture)? What was the result of that race? How much have you improved at that race distance? I'll go first. The oldest…

I'm in for 165 miles in November.

Final check in. Ran a new Greenway today. First mile with my wife and then we split up. I did a total of six miles, easy effort. This was a cut-back week for me, so I totaled 32.7 miles for the week. The monthly goal was 125 miles; I did 159.3. Great running everyone! See you in November!

Tried some new trails today at Umstead State Park. Chose a 6.1 mile out and back. It was a good combination of easy and technical. I took a wrong turn and accidentally doubled back at one point. I realized it when I got to a bridge I had already crossed. Turned around and went back to it and decided to make this my long…

4 easy trail miles @ 11:55 pace I went completely rogue today. There is a property across from the RTP trails that I usually run that has a tremendous trail system, but it was recently announced that it was purchased by Apple for their East Coast Campus. They have put up wooden gates at the entrance and No Trespassing…

Thursday is road day due to schedules. Glorious, cool morning. 51°F at the start. 6.6 miles @ 9:33 pace on a combination of roads and greenways. I did 6x10 second strides with 1:00 recovery jog after mile 5. It feels really good to get the legs moving fast again.

Yesterday was my rest day. Today: 5.4 miles on the RTP trails. 135.5 for the month out of 125. Guess I underestimated a little bit.

I believe that CA actually voted to KEEP DST all the time. I lived and surfed there for 5 years, up until June of this year. That was a point of contention for me and all my Dawn Patrol buddies.

3.5 miles at recovery effort, half on the paved path, half in the woods because it was a still a little too dark when I got to the trailhead. I can't wait to set the clocks back this weekend. Daylight Savings Time is dumb. They should just make it go away. 130.1 of 125

Sat: 5.4 easy miles on the Lake Crabtree trails @ 11:03 pace. Super easy run. Really enjoy these trails. Sun: 12 miles on the ATT @ 9:19 pace. Started to feel the mileage the last couple of miles. May need a cut back week next week. 37.7 miles for the week. 126.5 miles out of 125 for the month. Goal met!

Easy trail run today. 4.9 miles @ 11:25 pace. 109.2 miles complete out of 125 mile goal.

Training starts today. 6 miles, easy effort with 5x10 second strides, 1:00 recovery. My graph is starting to get colorful. 104.3 miles complete, of 125 mile goal.

5.1 miles through the woods at 11:24 average pace. Running is feeling really good now and I feel like my fitness has improved dramatically over the last four months. When I started back, I wasn't sure that I would be able to stick with it. There was this nagging pride thing in the back of head. Would I be okay being slow…

So much truth in this post. As a runner, I totally get it. I have had the same experience trying to explain to a non-runner (or even casual runner), disappointment in a finish when I ran faster than they could even conceive of.

Weekend Recap Saturday My wife and I went to Crabtree Lake Park to investigate the trails. We did about a mile together around the edge of the lake. We got to a spot where the trail split off. She wanted to go on the flat section around the lake to a bridge she could see across the way. I wanted to go deep into the woods…

Got to the trailhead and realized I forgot my key card AGAIN. Drove home and left the car for my better half and went out and hit the road for an easy 6 miles @ 9:38 pace. 73.1 of 125 miles complete.

Took to the roads and Greenways here in west Cary today. Did an easy effort 6 miles @ 9:44 pace. 67.1 miles complete of 125.
