Depends on a whole host of things, but it seems a lot at this point. Maybe shoot for 5-6 and see how you go? It's all pretty arbitrary anyway. ;) But some people find this kind of thing helps keep them on track with their logging and hitting their calorie/macro targets.

AMAZING. <3 *round of applause*

<3 I know. It's tough. But you don't need to look at them - maybe even ask someone you trust to take them for you. But they really are worth having. In 3, 6, 12 months you can take a peek and see how far you've come.

Well done on the losses @BMcC9 and @etherealanwar ! And welcome to our recent joiners. :) My weight stayed the same over Christmas, New Year and my birthday... which is something of a miracle. My final holiday-season hurdle is tomorrow - my mother's birthday dinner. Luckily the restaurant has posted their nutritional info,…

Hello to our New Year posse! I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year! It's only 44 days until V-Day, so if you're just joining in this challenge now - firstly WELCOME. You don't need to do anything special, other than checking in on this thread from time to time and keeping us posted on how you're getting on. :)…

Hello. *waves* Just entered my 4th year as a vegan. It's boringly normal to me now. :) Apart from occasional cravings for fried chicken (!), it's basically plain sailing at this point. Luckily, I LOVE veggies, which definitely helps. I also love carbs (hence the extra bulk I'm in the process of shifting!). There is no…

Santa brought me a new jumper (sweater, if you're American!) in a UK size 14 (US 10), and it WAS. TOO. BIG. B)

You don't need to lose weight. If you're not happy with how you look, you need to investigate recomp. And don't eat less than 1200. Your body needs energy and nutrients to function properly.

I'm taking my mother on a surprise trip to the Canary Islands at the end of January for some midwinter sunshine (it's her Christmas gift - and she has no idea), and I'm hoping I can lose another 7lbs and look extra fabulous in my new retro style swimsuit. B)

Mine just sort of crept up on me over a period of about 18 years. No sudden increases or dramas. Just a lack of vigilance on my part, and a very gradual expansion of 3-5 pounds a year.

@SarahKim17 This is what she has come up with (and she's not vegan, or even veggie, so this is a big deal for her): * Starter: Mini Vegetable Tartlets: Sweet Potato, red pepper and spring onion with a red Thai curry sauce in crisp filo pastry, served with a salad. * Main: Mushroom and Cranberry Puff Pastry Parcel, served…

NICE! Well done ladies. I was 170.5 last week. This morning... a delightful, if slightly baffling, 168.5. It's the week after my period, so I'm assuming that's behind the drop! This next week will be tricky! I'm visiting family for Christmas Day, so I'm fairly sure that accurate logging will go out the window for the day!…

Welcome to everyone who wants to join in and support each other! V-Day is exactly 8 weeks away... and we have the gauntlet of Christmas and New Year to navigate, as well as two menstrual cycles (for a lot of us!) that will probably mess with our weekly losses. This won't be easy, but you know what? I think we can handle…

There are lots of people on here who have lost 100lbs+. There are some incredible transformations in the Success Stories section to inspire you. Most of them seem to have done the same thing: Create a consistent calorie deficit over a long period of time. You can do it too. Plug your stats into MFP, set your rate of loss…

Blimey. :/ I mean.. ok, if you like eating that way and can see yourself doing it forever... But it's a hard pass from me. All I can think of is the inevitable constipation from the lack of fibre. And you know... the possibility of scurvy? I usually eat about 150-180g of carbs a day. The weight is coming off just fine.…

The OP has posted several times in the last few weeks with some troubling thoughts/ideas/theories on her weight loss and food choices, and has referenced a "full blown eating disorder" in the past. I don't think any amount of advice from well-meaning forum members are going to help her. She needs to see an Eating Disorder…

Love the sensible people on this post. <3 So here's a disclaimer: If 10lbs in 8.5 weeks (c.1.2lbs a week) seems unrealistic for you based on your current weight (i.e. you don't have much to lose) or your preferred rate of loss, then don't feel you can't join in. Just pick a target that makes sense for your situation!…

I've made a new challenge for anyone who wants to jump on board: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10712368/mini-challenge-10lbs-down-by-valentines-day#latest

Love the enthusiastic newbies on this thread, but it probably goes without saying that this thread is a few months old, and anyone joining this mini-challenge now is going to struggle to lose 10lbs in... *checks notes*... 15 days. :) Unless you're just starting out and very obese, a 10lb drop between now and New Year will…

Hello *waves*

Welcome to the gun show! :o
-
It's official: 10.5lbs down since Halloween! *victory dance* Had a stall last week which slowed me down, but then I was 2.5lbs down this week! And I'm now just a pound away from not being Obese, which is my Christmas goal.

I usually shrug, and carry on. Maybe drink a bit more water than usual to flush out the extra salt that tends to be in restaurant food? Ultimately days like that will slow your overall weight loss time a tiny bit, but you also have to enjoy your life and eating out is a big part of that. So don't sweat them. Some of it…

Holy moly. Looking GOOD!
-
Yup. Eat those extra calories. Or at least some of them.
-
DAMN! Amazing progress!

Linzi, I wasn't being rude or patronizing you. I was pointing out a fact. You are routinely eating less than the recommended calories for a two year old - and exercising on top of that. That's not good. You need to eat more. If you don't want to eat bigger portions, then think about how you can add calories when preparing…
-
Holy cow! That's a massive loss! How does it feel not to be carrying a 140lb/10st person around all day? :)
-
Linzi, you need to be eating at least 1200 calories a day - more on days when you are exercising. Also, you don't have much to lose, so it will come off very slowly. 0.5lbs a week is probably perfect for your height and weight. Reset your expectations, start eating like an adult rather than a toddler, and realise this will…
