  • Sounds like you are really busy and active. Are you getting enough sleep? I know that has had a serious effect on my weightloss in the past. I wasn't losing but I was only getting about 5 hours of sleep. I got up at 5:30 in the morning to do a quick run or walk before work. Doc told me to skip it a few days a week and get…
  • I've tried them before and most are pretty tasty. They have a good variety which is nice. When I get them I mostly use them for a quick lunch that's easy to take to work. They have 3 sizes of meals so you can pick which one fits best into your calories for the day. I usually get the medium sized one since lunch is almost…
  • Hi All, For me it was when the security guard in our office building stopped me and said that I needed to take a new picture for my badge. Our building has some pretty serious security (work in the financial industry) and our picture flashes up on the guard's computer when we badge in, just so they can tell that the badge…
  • Totally agree with this. Good for you! I'm glad you're doing well after the surgery.
  • Lots and lots of water! You can also get unsweetened cranberry juice...no added sugars, just the ones from the berries. It's not the "light" cranberry juice. I get the Just Cranberry by R.W. Knudsen. It's in the organic section of my local grocery store. If you mix it with diet Sprite it makes a pretty good drink when you…
  • Hi! I've had severe cystic acne since I hit puberty at age 11.....I'm 44 right now. I've tried everything - including Accutane (which only worked for a few years). I am still taking antibiotics and spironolactone to help control it but diet definitely plays a role. It's never gone away when I "eat clean" but a good diet…
  • Try adding some weight exercises in....body weight, dumbells or stretchy bands. That will help build muscle. As for cardio----what about one of those bike pedal thingies (I'm sure that's the official name) that you can "pedal" with your arms? That would get your heart rate up until you can bear weight on your leg more…
  • Exercise is important to health, right? Like a doctor's appointment? Would you keep putting off a dr's appt if the problem you were having seemed to be getting worse? I was told one time to think of a workout like a doctor's appt.....schedule it and make sure you show up. It helped me to think of it like that.......
  • Biking? Swimming would be great if you have access to a pool.
  • Yummy. I'm going to try this today!
  • I love Advocare products (loooooove Spark) and use many of them (I'm also a distributor but only to my close friends and not for profit) and I agree with other the other MFPeeps on this one......just try watching what you eat and working out. You'd be amazed at the results you can get. It's not easy at all but it is worth…
  • I use the Advocare and have for years (also a distributor but only so I can get the discount on the products). Yes, some are just overpriced versions of what you can get at GNC. Everyone is going to get different results. I've used the Max3 and didn't see much result. It's really just a metabolism booster. The…
  • I usually do eat my main meal at lunch. My co-workers and I go out to eat a lot and I like to be social and join them. It seems to work for me and I'm usually not hungry in the evening. I also have a snack a few times a day so that helps too. If I don't eat regularly during the day I'll just eat everything in sight when I…
  • Could you do the juice for breakfast and dinner and eat your main meal at lunch?
  • I'm 44 and have had horrible cystic acne since puberty at age 11. People have given you some great suggestions most worth a try (except the lava soap suggestion. It is designed for mechanics, etc to wash the grease and grime off of hands. Way to harsh for the face in my humble opinion). In the 33 years that I've been…

  • It depends.....I haven't used a HRM in a while but I ranged between 500 and 700 cals per hour when I did. The lower amount on days with more weight work and higher cals on days that were cardio intense. I think 550 is a good estimate.
  • I gotta admit that I love just eating the batter....it usually doesn't make it into the microwave. It's very light and airy and reminds me of a chocolate mousse.
  • I wore my heart rate monitor once during a 3 mile walk and the calorie burn was a little over 400. Heart rate stayed in the upper end of my "fat burning" zone. I do squat pretty low and use light weights and exaggerated arm movements. If you put the effort in you can get a great low impact cardio workout with some toning…
  • Make sure that you work your mileage on your long runs up to the full 13.1 or close prior to the race. The training program that I did for my first half only got me up to 9 miles on the long runs and by mile 10 in the race I was wiped. For my 2nd half I worked up to 12 miles a few weeks before the race and I think it…
  • I know it's hard. I struggle with the cravings every day. I was thinking about this earlier this week - why can I push myself to finish 13.1 miles in freezing cold weather but I can't seem to push myself away from M&M's that are sitting on my co-worker's desk? For me, I realized it's all about changing the way I think.…
  • I really like the Emerald Dark Chocolate Cocoa Roast Almonds........they taste like cocoa puff cereal :-) Gets the chocolate craving out of the way and gives me some good healthy stuff. If that doesnt' work I usually give in and have the chocolate :-)
  • Hi All!! I'm much more of a plodder than a sprinter. Sometimes I love to run and sometimes I hate to run.....but I always love the feeling I have after said run. I am also continually amazed at the people that you meet through running. Runners are really a wonderful group of people for the most part. I guess you could say…
  • 12 minute mile is fine for a beginner. Heck, my normal race pace is between 11 and 12 minutes per mile and I've been running for almost 2 years. The fastest mile I have ever run was 9:48 and I couldn't have gone much further at that pace. Just don't compare yourself to others. Run because you enjoy it. The speed will come…
  • Congrats!!!! It's an awesome accomplishment.
  • Try a couch to 5k program. Lots of good phone apps for it. And just remember that just because you miss a workout (or 2) it doesn't mean you've fallen off the wagon. I love the saying "weightloss happens in the kitchen. Fitness happens in the gym". Good luck with the running.
  • Bootcamp and running
  • Wow. What a transformation, both physical and mental. You have had an amazing year and you should be so proud!!!! Congrats!
  • Same here - no experience either. I hope your surgery goes well, that you heal quickly and that you have great success!!
  • I work in the finance industry (mortgage, not student loans) and we buy and sell loans all of the time. It's not uncommon that any type of loan is sold or transferred to another servicer. They are supposed to notify you of any change in servicer but it doesn't always happen in a timely fashion. And sometimes the notice…
  • I've taken a week off before when I pulled a muscle in my back. I think it actually helped my runs after. You wont lose momentum.....you're too addicted to running :-). Give your body time to heal and don't feel guilty. Hope you feel better soon!
