Hey there I am a Yank living in Australia, so I love this topic. I get asked all the time. It is hard to find some of the stuff I would normally cook for Thanksgiving here, so I usually get a little creative and make a few things. Pumpkin pie is a staple at Thanksgiving dinner, and since I can't find the canned pureed…

When I was young and had naturally blonde hair I used to get told all the time I looked like Jodie Foster. Now that I'm older, and have dark hair I have been told Amy Lee a few times.

haha I laughed when I saw this post. I did a few of these classes once, and I was the youngest person there. But nobody even paid any attention to me, they were all too busy doing their own thing. The classes are a lot of fun, you should just try it once at least to see how you like it.

I've had them since I was about 20 as well... along with tons of spider veins everywhere in my body... face, stomach, back. My mom has varicose veins, so I guess it's hereditary. I don't think there's enough lasers in the world to get rid of all mine. Plus I am ghostly pale as well... so there's no hiding them.

I love this! You said it so well.

Well first let me say, you really aren't all that bad off. Quite a few of my friends are even shorter than you and in the same weight range and still know how to rock their curves. It's really all about the way you carry yourself. That being said, I can understand how you are feeling. I went through a period of deep…

^^^^THIS!^^^ I have PCOS too and it really frustrates me when I hear people saying things like oh carbs don't matter, and it's all just calories in and calories out, and all these other things. If I went by that advice I would be gaining weight in my situation. I wish it was that simple for all of us, but everybody is…

Well I am just now reading about the Paleo diet, so I'm no expert or anything, but it looks pretty good to me!
-
I haven't read through the thread, but I will just tell you from my own experience this same thing happened to me at age 14-15 when some of my hormones started going through the roof and the docs didn't know why ( I wasn't diagnosed until 5 years later). Of course as doctors always do they just put me on the pill to try to…

I agree with you about the BMI charts, that's why I never look at them. It all depends on your muscle and body fat. I don't know how to change them, I've never tried but I know you can adjust a few things under the goals sections.

Vitex for hormone balancing, inducing period and keeping it regular, and for trying to get pregnant. 1/2 tsp of cinnamon per day instead of Metformin ( in studies has proven to be more effective than Metformin) for insulin resistance Chromium and B12 or B complex in addition to a good multivitamin. Drinking Spearmint tea…

Or they go up in increments of two, and you would be the inbetween size that they don't even make.

Oh sorry I thought we were just asking pointless questions that nobody cares about?

well is she was indeed ever your "friend" she would have never talked to you that way! The only reason people will call you names is because they are trying to find anyway possible to hurt you. I know it's hard not to feel hurt, but if you do that means they won. So just don't play their game, delete them and block them…

Wow congrats on your weight loss so far, that is awesome! I feel for you having to deal with two medical issues that impact your weight, that must be really difficult. But you are so right about the positive attitude, that's where it's at :)
-
Wow that's so awesome that you proved your doctors wrong! I love that. Because most of them just try to give you the pill, push you out the door and tell you to lose weight. I remember a few years back when I heard of Spiro as a treatment for some PCOS symptoms, I had to go to multiple doctors because they just didn't…

wow you look amazing girl! Your legs are so nicely toned! Zumba Rocks!!

More cushioning doesn't necessarily mean it will be too soft. The whole point is that you use it frequently, and if it's too painful you won't be. But as long as you are applying your body weight when doing the exercises, there should be no issue. And mine is definitely not too soft, it's very firm and works great.

I can't give up my morning coffee, but I only have one cup and then the rest of the day I have tea and water.
-
well... I made my own because at the time I couldn't afford an expensive one, but I would just recommend one that has a lot of cushioning because it can be excruciatingly painful when you are rolling it down your IT band and the more cushion you have the better.

Wow so great to hear all of the success everyone has had! I started getting abnormal hormone levels when I was just 14, but back then my doctor had no idea what it was so they just put me on the pill to deal with it. I never had a problem losing weight until now... when I came off the pill. But I want to do it all…

Thanks for posting your stories :) I had a b12 deficiency as well that made my hair fall out, once we figured out what it was and I started taking it, it was relatively quick to stop that. I now take a b complex supplement every day. I stopped taking all prescription meds as well. I do 1/2 tsp cinnamon a day instead of…

well I'm sorry that things that you have tried haven't worked so well... I know how frustrating it is, because we have to work that much harder than anyone else to lose weight. The only other thing I can suggest is changing the type of exercise you are doing. I know you said you don't want to exercise much more, but maybe…

Thank you for saying this... I am one of those people. And while I could theoretically eat all that crap it would have serious implications to my health, and I wouldn't lose weight... because I have a medical condition. It really irritates me how ignorant some people are about how common these conditions are and that some…

You might not be eating enough calories. 1200 is the bare minimum, but try calculating your BMR under the tools section of MFP and eat that amount of calories for a week and see what your results are like. Also how are your carb numbers? Us women with PCOS really need to watch those levels, if your carbs are too high that…
-
Sorry to say, but it actually does matter what you eat. Especially if you have any kind of metabolic disorder, or are prone to high insulin levels or unstable blood sugar. If you store a lot of fat in your abdomen this is usually true. If this is the case, then you shouldn't be eating as many carbs as MFP recommends, and…
