  • Sorry, got a couple days behind on reporting my challenge Sunday - +11 (no exercise, and over calorie budget, and I didn't contact anyone - sorry) Monday - +22 (big day 800+ calories, for some reason, my fruit carried me thru lunch, left a big deficit for dinner, so I had a nice big protein shake late, still had 600 extra…

  • gotta say, this topic has been bugging me for 24 hours now... I liked all the cool things about open water swimming... i didn't like that the original poster had to go after people who swim in a pool like they are some kind of pond scum... I guess I'd say this... Come to China, do some open water swimming... I'll supply…
  • okay, so I've only done a couple really short open water swims in my life (well there was the 1 mile Boy Scout qual in a lake in Yellowstone).... but I digress.. the big thing for me is that I can't hardly do mor e than 25 meters breathing every 4th pull (breath, one two three four breath)... and my HR starts spiking a bit…
  • FYI, I have one of those gizmo's, and the thing I have learned playing with it so far is that the gizmo (called a SWIMSENSE) will only count your ACTIVE time towards calorie burn it reports and that burn actually matches MFP pretty well if you use the same TIME that the device records for your ACTIVE time... Now, reality…
  • Thanks Pam for helping me out.... here's the rest Name: Trent (PhatAV8r) "Phat", "Cap'n" w/e SW: 302.4# GW: 287.0
  • This is completely false, for a 300# guy like me, 45 minutes of strength training burns about 300 calories... same as me running two miles... it won't improve your aerobic fitness, but it definitely burns calories...
  • I use the description on MFP of STRENGTH TRAINING (weight lifting, weight training).... by and large, as long as you aren't resting too much, and had a short cardio warm up to get your muscles warmed up well... you should be in your 60-65% MHR zone (which is primarily fat burning) and the caloric burn should be right on…
  • so by joining the group do we get to play? cuz I am crazy for a good motivational challenge!
  • well, I got invited, and I definitely fit the definition.... 53 - middle aged 301# (down from 353 in 2012) - still fat Male yep, that does it... have we ever tried to do a challenge type thing just with the big guys on here to be motivated as a group? Anyway, I live in China, Shanghai to be exact. so it's going to be a…

  • Just my own opinion, but always listen to your body... if you aren't up to it, don't move up (even if you could PUSH thru it)... just get thru the regular 1.3 or do it using Nike+ (I mean, you can look at the time yourself too, or just modify it and run walk as Nike+ prompts every minute)... The only issue I have with C25K…
  • Wife had a radical masectomy in 2001... 2002, had the breast reconstructed and the other altered to match.. we now call them BEAUTY and the BEAST... I say, work with what you have... my wife HATES her breasts.
  • There is no ONE exercise... for women, this is a key DEPOSIT area (including hips and thighs)... as you lose weight, it will shrink, but it takes time... you have to view these areas a lot like onions... the fat peels away in thin layers (the good news is that SOME layers are thicker than others, so as you work on your…

  • okay, don't know if your married, but if you are, here is your hubby's chance to PROVE he loves you... get a bucket or basin big enough for your feet... fill with hot steaming water that your feet can barely tolerate... you can add some fragrant oil if you like... Then, have your husband dry your feet and wrap one in a…
  • that is correct, a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound poo, no difference at all.. now the cubic space required to hold one pound of each, is probably significantly different
  • what the heck? why isn't it working on my blog then?
  • so why won't his post? I put it on the site, it gave me the codes, and I get nothing...
  • better than losing 'the boys' is all I have to say... those two and I have been knocking around for years now... yeah, we hang out a lot

  • to the Zumba and aerobics question... your FitBit doesn't know what you were doing... all it knows is that certain movement across 3 axis occurred during a certain frequency of time... so doing Zumba, your movements are increased, and your taking steps, in a certain amount of time... this would translate to the FitBit as…

  • Ditto, and the AUTO settings for steps is a little off for short legged people... I have a long UPPER body, but my inseam is only 31 which is 1 inch shorter than AVERAGE for my height... so I did the WET FOOT test (set up 20 feet measured on the ground... put down soaking wet towels just at the start line, back step three…

  • Your going to get tracking for your total steps, stairways climbed, calories burned, and a basic activity level for the day... but it doesn't do speed/distance tracking... you need something like Pedometer GPS on the iphone, or even Nike+GPS on the phone, or a 6G Ipod Nano which can do that with the Nike+ fitness app on…

  • this is what I sent to FitBit today... "Hey guys, uh, I need another belt clip... I know I can slip it to my clothing direct, but nothing looks worse that a guy with a fitbit as a tie clasp... love my device, but the belt clip you really need to make available in an accessories link on your site... also, I want another…

  • 1. no place to put it? are you kidding me? the belt holder is great, I haven't had mine pop out yet... you can clip it to your undershirt under your dress shirt... unless, ewww, your one of those people whose mommy didn't raise him to wear either a wifebeater or t-shirt under your dress shirt... again, ewww.... I've used…

  • how much stretching do you do for your hamstrings? hips? I know pilates tends to stretch people a lot, but if you aren't stretching after your workouts and especially your hammies, your lower back still continues to tighten up to protect your hip girdle... lower back pain 90% of the time starts with poor balance in the…
