  • Just coming in to say the same thing - time to get back at it. This place was always pretty inspirational - looking for friends to add as last time I found that pretty helpful (and now all my old friends are mostly gone from here ;() Yay to all us re-starters :D I'm sure there's lots of that after xmas....
  • Good link from nerdfitness, just what I was looking for, thanks. I can do 7 pullups. I can do 8 sets of 7 pullups back to back. I can do 7 pullups 20 times a week for months and months, and then I can still do 7 pullups. No matter what I do I just can't seem to progress on pullups and it's driving me bat****. I'm at the…
  • I have one pair of sevens and they are the only jeans i wear now. They are amazingly comfortable - feels like you are naked. Got mine for $100 (half off) and well worth it.
  • I've heard a year batted about, but I don't know. Intuition would tell me it would last until you have gained an amount of muscle that is noticable but not "big". I.E., looking toned vs. looking downright muscular because at that point you are building significant mass and would require the extra calories. If it takes you…
  • I believe that eating and drinking and having fun is absolutely vital to enjoying life. You shouldn't be denying yourself fun or enjoyment unless that is specifically the thing that is causing your displeasure with your body (i.e. extra fat). If it's something you do once and a while I doubt it's the problem (if you go out…
  • I'm looking to lose about 10lbs or so, at the most. Honestly, wouldn't care if I lost any if it was muscle keeping the lbs high. I started at 188 and probably shouldn't be any lighter than 175. I'm kind of trying to go from being a bit chubby to 10% or less body fat percentage. At 182 now. i know what you mean about lots…
  • Jock (because I was one of the better athletes in the school) Skater (because I was a skater) Punk (because I was a bit punk - listened to punk music, some punk style) Hippy (because my friends were hippies and we smoked a lot of weed) Probably depended on who you talked to.
  • Ontario too - any/all you ontarioans should add me to your friend list...
  • I'm in a similar position - I want to lose maybe another 10-15 lbs (not a load, I know) and I don't really because I'm gaining a lot of muscle. I just figure that long term eating and exercising right I will lose the weight. Maybe it will take a year instead of a few months but since we are happy with the body changes…
  • Good luck - I really like the program a lot - doing x2 now myself. Keep an eye on your diet - as in when you eat. I had an issue with timing my meals because if it had been too long since i last ate I bonked and just couldn't push myself, but other times if I got hom from work at 7:00 starving and ate before ... then it…
  • I'm the same. I'm borderline obese according to BMI which is pretty silly, as I'm not :). I have very strong muscular legs, always have, and I figure that's the main reason. Just another reason I mostly ignore the scale.
  • High protein, 1lb/week loss (no more or lose too much muscle probably), cardio after weights, EC stack.
  • Absolutely. I've seen it said (in an article that I really liked and seemed to nail a lot of stuff) that you should eat 20% of your meals as junk food. That doesn't mean going over your calorie count, just treating yourself (whatever that means to you). For me, that works. I'm not interested in feeling "deprived", it's all…
  • http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/topicoftheweek88.htm This is a good article, pretty much covers it. I'm losing muscle mass for sure right now so I"m trying to do better with my protein.
  • I go by "5 ingredients or less" principle. Bread should have 5 or less, yogurt 5 or less etc... Beyond that I've never really seen the point of frozen or canned vegetables.
  • I like making a fritata - keeps for a while and you can just cut a slice, pop in micro for less than a minute and you are good.
  • Being chained up in my basement.
  • Perhaps unfortunately....nothing. I'm blissfully ignorant of just about anything that I could be self conscious about. I figure I'm pretty great. My mom thinks so...
  • I love it but I always fry it until golden brown and crispy. Try it, it's good. Just pat it down a bit so it's not wet anymore or it will stick to the pan.
  • I saw a profile photo of a woman who was so drop dead beautiful that I figured maybe I need to get into the whole 'friends' thing on this site :). So her...
  • Well you are sort of entering tricky territory where bodybuilders nit pick like crazy. It's very hard to maintain muscle mass while on a caloric deficit - eventually you will be eating into muscle and lose bulk. This is why bodybuilders do a builk and then a VERY careful cut, often acompanied by quasi legal supplements. So…
  • I'm not sure I understand exactly. Are you going to stop going to the gym? What's your goal with P90x? Are you on a calorie deficit? I think if you are switching from the gym to P90x you will see a decrease in strength and probably in bulk as well. The only thing you can really do is try to lift as heavy and intensly as…
  • You need strategies. Research, read, learn and come up with something that works. My strategies that work for me and I came to based on lots of reading and preparing: - Drink LOTS of water. 1 glass before, during and after eating. It satiates you. - Find recipes you like and are healthy and make sure you always have the…
  • Well, to nit pick, you can make porridge out of barley or any grain or even peas. The word describes a cooking method and consistency (which is to say, if you boild oats and make it really watery it's not porridge anymore, but if you boil, say, rice in water you could technically call it porridge if it had the consistency…
  • YES, oatmeal is porridge. As long as the porridge is made of oats (which it usually is :).
  • Stand on one foot. A lot. The small interior movements you make to hold your balance strengthens the ligaments etc... I've had multiple such sprains over my years of basktball/skateboarding - a good 5 on each ankle that required long stretches on crutches and countless minor ones and it takes a lot of work to get that…
  • I go by the policy of 1 glass before eating, 1 glass during eating, 1 glass after eating - every time I eat. I probably drink about 4-5 more a day so I'm drinking about 10-15 a day usually. Basically, you should drink as much water as possible. IMO it is one of the most overlooked and important elements of both weight loss…
  • My understanding is that the science doesn't back it up as far as affecting your metabolism etc..., but it is helpful in keeping yourself full and satiated through the day and changing bad habits such as binge eating (my problem, evening snacking).
