  • So you need insulin to counter that. That is the glycogenesis (sp) coming into action. Unfortunately not all our bodies will work the way they are "supposed" to. Mine doesn't.
  • You definitely need to be taking some of your insulin. I have Type II and on the long acting insulin too. Even doing low carb and taking the insulin, my levels were still high. You need to talk to your endo about a sliding scale for taking your insulin. So if your pre level readings are a certain amount, you need to take a…
  • I have to admit I did put myself back on the medication that my gp stopped while I was in hospital because she thought it may have caused the ketoacidocis. I could see that it would be the only way to get my levels down to where they need to be. I set my alarm for my 4am insulin, but with a 5.2 saw that it wasn't necessary…
  • I've had a win today. Apart from my bsl reading at 4am, no readings over 8 and my post lunch was a 4.9. Lunch was some salami and happy cow wedges. It wasn't a big lunch but it filled me up. Of course my body is doing the shakey shake thinking it's having a hypo, but it just needs to get used to proper bsl's again. I did…
  • I might have to go and try having a bullet proof hot choc for breakfast (I don't drink coffee, can't even stomach the smell of it). Eggs for some reason are pushing up my bsl's unacceptably. I had a 7.7 this morning and after breakfast a 10.3. Before I got sick, my levels would have dropped not gone up on a breakfast of…
  • Yeah, I'm setting an alarm for 4am to take it and get it working. This morning when I got up at 7:30 it was down to 7.7. Now to keep it down there.
  • The IV potassium does hurt horrendously. It felt like someone was trying to rip my arm off, so they had to dilute it for me and drip it in really slowly. I'm glad she can just take the pill supplements this time. I don't know what is going on at this end, after my reasonable levels this morning, I checked my levels a…
  • Oh no Sunny Bunny, I hope she is feeling better soon. My GP was threatening to send me back yesterday. I have a UTI on top of everything else now. But my body is fighting it according to the urgent blood tests and everything else she ran yesterday afternoon. If I get a fever I have to go straight to emergency though. So…
  • Sunny Bunny, yes that is exactly what is happening. I'm changing the timing of my Lantus now to the mornings before breakfast and see if that helps
  • Thank you Sunny Bunny for that great explanation. Personally I don't think I was DKA either. I didn't have an excessive thirst and I was being really strict with my carb intake, I had it down to well under 20g a day. I told them over and over and over that I was on a low carb diet to control my BSL's and even the night…
  • My endo is going to get me a metre to read ketones. They are also testing to see if I have Type I or Type 1.5 diabetes. But there is a long wait for those results evidently. They took so many bloods and blood gases while I was in hospital I'm pretty sure one of the tests checks for ketoacidosis. My ketones were like 7.6 or…
  • Please add me too, I just got back on the wagon this week, and tracking today

  • I got one today as a Christmas gift
  • Its my first round. I'm looking forward to it, and will be using MFP to record my food and drink
  • Hi I'm Kathy, I live in Australia. I'm a mum to 1 dd10, and step mum to dsd11 and dss17. I work part time, but have a full day on Tuesdays. I go to a personal trainer twice a week, and wanted to do something to supplement these workouts on my days off. So I chose this workout as it seems to have a great mix of cardio,…
  • My plan is to fit it in around my Monday and Thursday workouts with my PT. So probably Sunday Ripped in 30 Monday PT Tuesday rest (full day at work) Wednesday Ripped in 30 Thursday PT Friday Ripped in 30 Saturday Rest
  • I'm starting tomorrow to supplement my twice weekly personal training weight lifting workouts. I'm looking forward to it for sure. I want to smash this weight off.
  • And clean eating, dont eat anything that comes in a packet. That should help a lot.
  • Lol, thanks for that. I do like it, I just think its strange I want it all the time. At least its not chocolate.
  • Canberra here. Feel free to add me too.
  • I just bought the dvd set today. I have set it up in dsd's bedroom, so I can sneak in there before everyone gets up in the morning, work out and then have a shower. The room is far away enough from everyone that I wont wake anyone up. I figured it is the only way I'm going to get a work out in.
  • I often have at least 2 a day. Our family of 3 can easily go through 30 eggs in a week. Eggs are one of the most nutrient rich foods out there. If you couldn't afford to buy food, I'd say find the money to buy eggs.
  • I had a ffeeling that was my problem too. Losing it off my non-existant bum, sigh.
  • I used to make a stuffed zucchini recipe, and I'd slice the zucchini into rounds, take the seeds out of the middle and put them onan oven tray, so they are like little containers. Then I'd stuff them with a ground beef mixture, and top with a little grated cheese, and bake in the oven till the zucchini is soft. Yummy
  • I understand where you are coming from Aggie. Me I usually quit after 3 weeks, I dont know what happens, I hit the end of week 3 and go on a binge. My first goal is to make it to 3 weeks and then to the end of 4. and so on and so on. I have about 25 kg to lose, and I'm not exercising at the moment, between being a mother,…
  • I have bursitis in both my shoulders. Sleeping is impossible anymore, my nerves are also damaged. Bang one arm and the other one hurts just as much. Even moving my body quickly causes agony. I was having some physio, but when she started on stretching my arms, the pain was agonising for over a week and I was too afraid to…
  • I'm not a raw fish type of gal, but I do love my vege sushi I get once in a while. It usually has yellow pickle, carrot and cucumber in it. I have found time and again, that after eating this my blood sugar levels go down a little.
  • I'm doing this for my health too Stepoco. I'll be watching your journey as I travel mine. I have 25kg to lose, and hopefully my Type 2 diabetes will be gone.
  • Thats the thing isn't it. Being honest with yourself, and diligently watching what you are doing.
