Beer and alcohol are hard bits. For me, they always slow down my progress. Within 2 weeks I suggest to cut down at least a few nights. Also make sure you count properly all the other calories and weigh food. Sometimes I don't and I underestimate the weight of what I am eating.

My big fitness idol is Tosca Reno. She is 53 and she looks amazing, trains hard and eats clean. She keeps winning fitness competitions. I am 45 and I wish I looked half that :) I definitely start to feel that my body and my joints ache more than they did ten years ago but I want to push as hard as I can.

I have always exercised for an hour a day but other than that, I was very sedentary. A month ago I got my Fitbit and it is worse than a dog :) I like competing with my Fitbit friends, so abandoned lifts, car and going for long walks in addition to my exercise.

What really helps me is the HRM. I follow my heart rate and increasing and decreasing intensity to achieve the effect of interval training. Sometimes I go at steady pace but always try to keep my HRM above 160 beats.

I did start lifting and going as heavy as I can but it should be a meal replacement anyway in order to stay within my calories goal, shouldn't it? I am combining lifting with cardio and really want to go down on fat. Thanks for advice.

Thanks for sharing. I have his book ready to read. The truth is that reducing carbs from my diet definitely works for me in losing weight.
