  • I didn't have a new addition, but converted a spare bedroom into my home gym. I added the foam flooring tiles (Gold's Gym brand sold at WalMart), a treadmill, flat screen TV and a bench/ottoman (easier to put on shoes, etc) We already had a recumbent bike that my DH uses. Now that the nicest TV in the house is in there, we…
  • Check out Geneen Roth's philosophy of food, self love and weight loss. She's quite insightful, and I have learned a great deal from her. Like her fb page for inspirational tidbits that help guide your thoughts and keep you 'present' with yourself.
  • Took both days, but I did it! Managed 2 sets of 50 reps with 5 lb weights, then 4 sets of 25. Feeling good!
  • You are strong, brave and beautiful! What an inspiration! You're on a path to health and success, and I applaud your determination. Thank you for sharing, and motivating others along your journey! Keep it up!
  • Thanks SassyFitMom for the tip on Sears! I tried yesterday, and it wasn't available for pickup/ out of stock for shipping. Took a chance and today it was available to ship :-) I've got a Garmin Forerunner that works beautifully for my outside runs, but my treadmill at home is a Yowza Smyrna, and it doesn't recognize the…
  • Congrats! That's a huge accomplishment! Fundraising for a good cause always feels good, too. My advice is to check out a Color Run or Color Me Rad run. I'm sure they're stopping in ATL sometime soon. That has been the most fun of all the 5k's I've done. Get a group of friends together and rock it!
  • I need a challenge to motivate me today... why not this!? 1st timer, so I'll try with 5lb weights :-)
  • The only milk I get is a little with morning cereal, and I've been using Silk Unsweetened (original) Almond Milk. Since I'm not a milk 'drinker' I can't speak to the texture or taste alone, but I love it over cereal. Someone else mentioned coconut milk... now I'm thinking about a delicious Banana Bailey's Colada with CoCo…
  • Have you considered yoga? Sounds like you're juggling/balancing so much, maybe placing more emphasis on the 'work out' part of it than the 'emotional balance' side. When you find an outlet you love, it won't seem like a grind. Just keep looking and be willing to try new things.
  • Without knowing how many calories you're eating, it's tough to say you're getting too few or enough. I'd visit my primary care doc and ask for routine bloodwork, including thyroid screening. If your periods are extremely heavy or if your nutrient intake isn't good, you may be anemic. On an easier-to-fix note, you should be…
  • Jillian Michaels' fb page usually has links to good dance mix tracks that are great for working out. And they're FREE!
  • Confidence! Love your story Gayle, and how you've gotten off all the meds! That's a huge accomplishment!
  • ^^^ I completely agree! Such an inspiration! Thank you for having the courage to share your journey, and that infectious smile with all of us!
  • The kiddo in your pic is adorable, and so are you even with fair skin! As for tanners, I've been pleasantly surprised by the Jergen's Natural Glow body lotion. Use it every day in place of your regular moisturizer, and you develop a more natural looking tan over 4-7 days. Just be careful around the feet not to apply too…
  • C25K took me a few extra weeks to complete, but I did! I'm running my first 5K on 1/28, and I'm so very excited! For anyone contemplating the program... JUST DO IT!
  • Regardless of your face shape or weight, there are definite tips that can help you take better photos. First, never square your shoulders to the lens of a camera and stare directly at it. Angle your shoulders at least 45 degrees to either side, then turn your head back toward the camera... instantly slimmer looking!!!…
  • I do work in a hospital in FL where the flu shot is highly advised. Heck, we're even financially motivated to get it through discounts on our insurance premiums. If you choose to decline the flu shot, you are required to wear a mask anytime you're within 6 feet of any patient during peak flu season (12/1-3/31) Common sense…
  • Two things NOT to skimp on... your running shoes and your bra! If you're uncomfortable/in pain, you're less likely to stick with it. Quality 'support' makes all the difference!
  • Currently doing Couch to 5K
