  • I've not heard of it before, but I'm at the point where I'll try anything to help me get better. I hope it helps you. Keep us posted.

  • A lot of overly possessive people in this thread, and OUTDATED expectations of gender roles... which is really depressing. To the OP, don't play games. If you value your friendship don't "punish" her by ignoring for a week, that's playing games. Just tell her it upset you that she lied about hanging out to do something…
  • I love pomegranate seeds, diced apple, peas and ham in romaine lettuce salads with shredded cheese and honey mustard dressing.
  • on a daily it's sauces, like salad dressings, dips, sandwich spreads. They so easily turn something healthy into a calorie overload. So hard for me not to go overboard.
  • For me a binge is anything I know I shouldn't be eating, or have told myself not to eat, but eat anyway. Whether it's one snickers mini bite or a cheeseburger and french fries. I have a set diet and anytime I go outside of that I feel like it's a binge, even if it's only a few bites.
  • Only the prescription phentermine works from what I've read. I've taken the prescription and lost about 50 pounds in a very short amount of time. I wouldn't mess around with the over the counter stuff though.
  • my 4 year old is autistic and we think because of sensory issues he won't eat a lot of different foods. We've resorted to getting most of his nutrition into shakes. We make him a shake twice a day. Have you considered a juicer? You could work a lot of fruits and veges into that and the texture would just be liquid. We…
  • Are you seeing a medical doctor or a psychiatrist? I would elect for you to go see a psychiatrist to get evaluated. I have bipolar and take a mood stabilizer and an anti-psychotic. From what I understand antidepressants (though I've taken then in the past) can catapult you into mania. When I was a teenager I was more on…
  • bern929, mine is called: Metoprolol ER Succinate. I don't take it everyday. I only take it an hour before I feel like I'm going to do something that might cause a panic attack (which for me also causes a rapid heart rate.) I might still get a panic attack if I take it, but it will make it so my heart rate doesn't…
  • PB2 + stevia + milk
  • Happy birthday! You look great! Thanks for the inspiring story. :-)
  • KirstenMarie1, as you know I'm no expert, but I've been told by numerous people that 1 pound a week is a healthy and realistic weight loss goal. My only advice *take with a grain of salt* is if you go to a higher calorie intake (which I do think is a good idea) is to slowly raise it instead of jumping up in one go. But if…
  • If your friend is worried about accelerated heart rate they can talk to their doctor about taking a beta blocker. I take one when I feel like I'm going to be in a situation that might make me panic. It keeps your heart rate from accelerating. I totally get being afraid of rapid heart rate, it feels like you're going to die…
  • My recipe for hummus is a roasted bulb of garlic, two cans of drained garbanzo beans, chili powder, salt & pepper to taste. Throw everything in blender/food processor/even a hand blender will suffice and there it is! I love it! I like it wrapped in crunchy lettuce or w/carrots and celery. Sometimes I use it as a sandwich…
  • I admit, i didn't know what visceral fat was and had to google. I'm an apple shape and according to what I read people with my shape tend to have an excess of visceral fat. So it's very possible that I'm losing it. But, so it wouldn't change how I look on the outside though? Sorry if that's a dumb question. Happy to lose…
  • I woke up this morning and thought my feet did look thinner. I must be losing a little something from all over. This is really a wake up call for taking some full body photos so I can really be able to see a difference in the future.
  • You look fabulous! I should take some photos of myself. I have a really hard time looking at full body photos of myself. But knowing they will be for the sake of visual aid to how my body is changing *hopefully* will be worth it. :-)
  • Thanks all :-) craigmandu, TY, I'll check out that link.
  • I have been exercising on my stationary bike.. I started doing 5minutes at a time and have worked up to between 30 and 40 minutes in one go, about 6 days a week.
  • Maybe try replacing full calories drinks with diet drinks for starters? I know I lost a lot just from cutting out the full calorie drinks from my diet. Now I drink 0 to 10 calorie sodas, crystal lite... there's a huge variety of 0 calorie drinks to choose from. I kind of did that with food too, I went from regular bread to…
  • Boneless skinless chicken covered in homemade hot sauce, brown rice, soy sauce, and four cheese broccolini. Magnifico!
  • We grew spaghetti squash in our garden last year, it was my first time eating it. Very good!!! Other great pasta alternative: use a julienne peeler and make zucchini noodles. And something we've been eating a lot of lately: Delallo brand gluten free spaghetti made with brown rice: Delicious!
  • I like the banana-strawberry-orange flavored crystal lite, sprite zero, sunkist orange 10 (the 10 calorie one) coffee w/stevia. I've heard tell of a diet cream soda that I'm in the market for. ETA: champagne once in a blue moon. ;-)
  • Prescription weight loss pill: Phentermine, I lost about 40-50 pounds in a super short amount of time with no exercise. And yes it does work, really, really well. It's probably the most effective weight loss pill in the US. BUT that was 5 years ago, I had a baby after losing all the weight and gained it all back. Now…

  • If you have PCOS like I do you have to eat low carb to lose, or maintain weight loss. I haven't been doing low carb for a year but the fact is that when I reach my goal, if I want to stay there I will have to continue eating low carb. btw I'm doing the Low GI diet, I've read it is similar to keto.
  • I'm a freak: I love Big Franks, a certain brand of vege-dogs and I'm not even a vegetarian anymore. But I grew up on them. I like them heated, dipped in secret sauce (ketchup, mayo and pickle juice. ;-)
  • So far I've been exercising almost everyday, but really not vigorously. I do between 15-30 minutes on my stationary bike while watching tv. But I've managed to lose 22 pounds in the last 2 1/2 months. I think healthy eating and portion control have the most to do with my weight loss so far.
  • I thought I would never find a pre-maid low-cal salad dressing that I'd like, but every Newman's Own lite dressing I've tried I've liked. So far I've tried the caesar lite, honey mustard lite, and low fat sesame ginger. :-)
  • Thanks! My doctor has said from the start to do a 1400 calorie diet, but I always thought that was just his default answer. I was always under the impression that cutting as many calories as possible (without going too low) was the best way to lose, that's why I didn't mind when MFP defaulted me at 1200. I've been on 1000…
  • Siege_Tank, I'm listening to you. I'm also listening to what people are saying on the other side of the coin. I think everyone is different. You're passionate about your opinion because you're seeing results, what you're doing is working for you, and you've done some research that reflects your opinion. I want to do what…
