  • Well by definition, I don't know any women that wouldn't be considered feminists (don't know any one who wants to be under a anyone else's control, man or otherwise). It's just that all the ones I know who call themselves "feminist" say ridiculous things. I have been told it was "pathetic" that I couldn't change the oil in…
  • I think you are right. I believe in equal rights/pay etc, for men & women. However, I would not call myself a feminist because I do not want to be associated with those types of women that criticize others. I know that fundamentally, you are right in your definition of feminism, but in society (at least where some of the…
  • I totally get this!! My hubby worked a 16 hour day (he's a plumber and we had a cold snap that led to a lot of frozen pipes) and got home at midnight. Then he had to go fix something on our furnace. So at midnight I got up (I was awake anyways) and cooked him some dinner while he was in the basement. I didn't do it because…
  • Well there in lies the problem. In real life, every woman I know that refers to herself as a "feminist" behaves in this way to a certain degree and then refers to my marriage as "straight out of the 50's". For clarification: in my marriage, I look after the house and make ALL decisions related to it , budgetary or…
  • Ok... let me clarify. When I said I disliked feminists I meant the women who get up on their high horses and refuse to do anything "domestic" and then question why other women do. I'm pretty sure you guys are bright enough to know exactly what I meant (but we all know how much you love arguing technicalities). Perhaps a…
  • This is why I dislike feminists. If you ladies want to fix the cars, take out the garbage and do all the other "traditional man" roles while your husband does the cooking and cleaning... that's your decision. But you don't have the right to call marriages where the couple enjoy traditional roles a mother/child…
  • I'm showing this post to my 19yo daughter. She's 6' and slouches and squats in every picture because she hates being so much taller than her friends. drives me nuts! I'm 5'10", hubby is 6'4" so I wear heels with no issues. I cared more about it when I was younger... always felt like a giant compared to all my friends.
  • Welcome to MFP! You will do fabulous =)
  • Congratulations!! Welcome to Onderland! =)
  • It's Roni and thank you! No special tricks or magical pills. 14 months on MFP following my calorie goals 6 days a week with one cheat meal on Saturday's (just to keep me sane! LOL). I eat normal food (some of it processed), lots of veggies and lean meat (helps me squeeze treats in since they are pretty low cal). I walk…
  • In my personal opinion... you probably had a loss but didn't see it because of the water weight your cheat meal added. I eat fast food once a week (have since I started) and my weight can go up as much as 5lbs afterward from the extra sodium. How do you overcome this? I weigh in on Friday and have my "cheat" meal on…
  • The tortilla thing I completely get! LOL If one of us snored loud enough to be really disturbing to the other from getting quality sleep, we may of ended up in separate beds too. The tossing was creating a problem because I have psoriatic arthritis and when you're being inadvertently pummeled through the night or have a…
  • Well I was a pear... Measurements were: bust 48.5, waist 48.5, hips 54 & thighs 33 Now I'm more of an hourglass with pear tendencies... bust 41, waist 32.5, hips 42 & thighs 24.5 Yep, my waist is now smaller than my thighs used to be! LOL Pics are in my profile if you are interested (although I haven't taken any recently).…
  • For new shows this season? Last Resort & Chicago Fire For shows in general I am with the others: Dexter Game of Thrones Big Bang Theory Although I would probably add Sparticus.
  • I agree, I don't think the poster meant it negatively... I think it is likely a generation difference. No one would think twice if you were questioning a cut that was infected. My youngest daughter is 19 and oldest is 23 (although I just turned 40). Neither would have a problem asking me anything and my youngest still asks…
  • Mine are more ingredients than foods! Splenda packets Instant French vanilla coffee Milk 2% Bananas Whole strawberries Cocktail tomatoes Iceberg lettuce Thick sliced bread Shredded cheddar cheese Chicken breasts Interesting! =)
  • Some great advise here! It sucks that they base it off your cholesterol. That's only a small part of your risk for heart disease. My cholesterol "ratio" is off. My doctor says exercise increases the "good" stuff and eating healthy decreases the "bad" stuff. Specifically higher fiber foods help reduce the bad. My ratio is…
  • I dropped the first 50lbs in 4 months... The next 50lbs took 8 months (100lbs in a year). It's pretty normal to lose quickly when you start. At the 3 week mark I had lost 13.8lbs. Enjoy it but don't get discouraged when it slows down or stops...that too is normal and you just need to keep going! Good luck on your adventure!
  • I'm kind of surprised by how many of you there are that sleep in separate rooms. I have no opinion on it... Whatever works for you guys! First off... I am 40 & he is 41 years old and we have been married for 20 years (together for 24). So we are pretty "used" to each other (kind of grew up together). I think this bears…
  • It's so interesting to me to hear this! I have a bleeding disorder (immune system attacks my platelets making my blood too thin) and the last time I had dizzy spells like this my platelet counts were low. The dizzy spells started this time and my platelet counts are again low. The cardiologist and hematologist both say…
  • I also have this happen from low blood pressure and had a full blood work up (including vitamins & minerals) and a heart echo test (also have a murmur so the doctors were being thorough). The Cardiologist told me that when you lose weight your blood pressure drops and when you cut sodium your blood pressure drops. Two…
  • I've never seen "tall" in our local Old Navy, just petite, regular and long. Long is "iffy" for length for me (I'm 5'10"). I think they are a 33" inseam (?) and a 34" in Silver brand just hits the floor on me. I'll have to check the online store and see if "tall" is available in Canada! If not I'll be checking next time…
  • I know... Read me reply above! It's too hard to compare sizes because there are so many variables! If it helps my measurements are Bust 41, Waist 32.5, Hips 42 & Thigh 24.5 (a 36DD bra if that factors in).
  • You'll find everyone varies so much even at similar heights and weights, depending on their build). I'm 5'10", weigh 195 and am currently in a size 10 jeans (or 31WX34L if you go by those sizes). I'm an hourglass with pear tendancies as far as shape goes. The reason I point this out is because I can't even pull a size 14…
  • Size 22 to a 10... So 6 sizes and 105lbs. Roughly 17.5lbs per size. I'm 5'10" and I'm sure someone short would go through sizes faster depending on where they lost it from.
  • [/quote] It's wonderful that you haven't had that experience but I did. And the guy who sent it wasn't even on my friends list! Kind of creeped me out a bit. Why would some stranger feel the need to make recommendations to another stranger? It was weird and I would have been one of those "no one snoops through strangers…
  • If you are using the combo pack (little eggs and the cream) it is normal for the cream to burn after you put it on for a few minutes. If the burning doesn't subside wash it off. You can also try Vagisil cream to relieve the burning. A word of caution though: IF the burning is getting WORSE while using Monistat, stop using…
  • Silver's Suki jeans are a high/low rise in a curvy fit (higher in the back and lower in the front). To be honest, I find lower in the front more comfy to sit in... No weird "cutting you in half" that I get when sitting in some of the higher ones). I'm sure other brands have similar cuts (silver is a bit pricey). I'm tall…
  • Just because something works for me doesn't mean it will work for others. My diary is private because sometimes I eat... Dare I say it... PROCESSED FOODS! I know... The horror of it!! But in my defense I have low blood pressure (to the point of lightheaded spells) and my cardiologist recommended I not cut my sodium. So…
  • I agree... Mice aren't nocturnal. If you wake them up to eat, they will likely be less active during the day because they are tired. I worked night shifts for years and it didn't cause me to gain weight. I actually lost a bit (not a lot - about 10lbs) after I started because when I got off at 7am after a 12 hour night…
