• I did WO1 on Saturday and my lower body is seriously sore today....the 2nd day is always the worst for me. Mostly glutes and hamstrings. I will do WO2 tomorrow and hope that like some of you experienced I have less a desire to pass out or chuck my breakfast. I stuck to the 30 sec rest between exercises, but I rested…
• I'm 5'5" and my goal weight is 145-150 so I won't be contributing any pictures. :) I suppose age, body type etc will factor in, but I think 145 for someone 5'5" with a moderate amount of muscle is a pretty good weight. Just my 2 cents.
• Sweetpea - yes the split squats are just staic lunges with a barbell I hate planks so you lost me there. :P I try to just follow the program as prescribed but I know a few people who have continued Squats and Deadlifts in each stage even if they aren't listed. To each his own. I find the negative chin ups and lat pull…
• Absolutely THIS. I could have written this. I'm curious what your weight/height stats are. I'm 5'5" and 163 lbs. I am on S6 A3. I was "trying" to eat at 1450/day on non workout days and about 1750 on workout days. What I ACTUALLY did when I looked at my data since started was average 1700 a day regardless of exercise. I…
• The trend seems to be much older now than a generation ago. I had my kids at 21 and 23. I'm now 40 and my kids are preparing to leave the nest, but many of my friends who are my age and older are just starting their families. My daughter had a classmate growing up whose father was older than MY father. It's a trade off -…
• Unless you are 18, 100 lbs and 5' tall, I don't think you did it correctly. Don't forget to add in the activity multiplier. AND for everryone else, this number would then INCLUDE your exercise so you wouldn't eat that.
• I started Stage 6 yesterday. I say go for it! I really didn't think I'd be able to hold myself up at all on the negative chinups but surprised myself and managed a 7 second descent all 3 times. My arms do hurt today especially on the inside crook when I straighten them! I don't know if it will end in being able to do a…
• I have the FT80 so I can't answer your question but I can tell you that I LOVE it. Worth the investment.
• This is what your profile says: Why I Want To Get In Shape I'm huge, my legs and joints hurt, I have bad skin, I'm physically limited in the things I want to do, I want to live a long, healthy life and enjoy my life while I'm at it! I totally get your rant. I often wonder - why can't I just be happy being overweight…
• Your calorie burns seem really high to me. If you can, get a HRM and enter your actual burn. MFP estimates high as do the machines themselves sometimes. There is a whole lot of "eat more" philosophy on here, but sometimes the answer is still eat less. I also find weightloss can be kickstarted by eliminating the processed…
• Time. I gained 45 lbs in the last 8 weeks of my second pregnancy which left me one great big stretch mark. That baby is 17 now and the stretch marks while still there are not nearly as angry looking anymore. I do find that a bit of tan helps minimize further, but they will never go away sadly. I agree with the earlier…
• I bruise very easily - never really though much of it... Over the last couple of months I started getting very large bruises on my arms that seemed to come and go in different places. After a particularily ugly one showed up, I finally sat and retraced my steps to try to figure out where it came from...turns out it was…
• Serious? I would LOVE to look like this! But I do not have the time nor the dedication required. No worries...you don't either.
• I really need to learn how to shop better... I budget $1600/mth....I go over every single month...this includes restaurant eating which I know we do far too often and we don't eat at McDonalds and Subway...just sayin'...also includes cleaning supplies, household products and pharmacy stuff like shampoo and soap. We are 4…
• This thread made me spit out my coffee. BUT, I feel a need to stand up for the biologically challenged...not every man in the world is genetically predisposed to building "Rugby" legs. Some guys, no matter how hard they work, are always going to have smaller legs.....
• I like this game - I'm 40 - that's my son in the picture.
• @babygreen - 26 and hair
• You squat with free weights in your hands. A lot of women starting out can only use body weight. I think I started with 10s and ended with 30s. Now I have to use a bar if I squat because my grip strength won't allow me to do more than that. If you believe yourself to be strong enough to skip over squats with handheld…
• For the first stage it's just Squats. As you progress through the stages you will see the more difficult variations. The first stage is about doing the basic move and continually increasing the weight with which you can do it. I also have the e-book and regret purchasing it that way - it is the WORST e-book I have ever…
• 55lbs is good! I'm in Stage 4 and you do this again and I started with 60 lbs and I struggle to get that last press up. I'm not an expert but I think if you break it up you will lose the intention of the exercise. Maybe someone with a fitness background could explain it.
• I'm 3 months in - just started stage 4 and I have gained about 4 lbs. Don't worry about the weight for the moment. Look in my profile pictures, I posted a progress pic when I finished Stage 3. It's small so maybe a bit hard to see, but the difference between the 2nd pic and the 3rd pic is my 4 lb gain....sure doesn't look…
• I've just started Stage 4 - you can see the results thus far in my pictures. Honestly, I didn't bother reading all the verbiage about the why and the studies and the blah blah...there are a billion opinions out there....I just went straight to the program and started lifting.
• I signed up for this in the only Lifetime facility in Canada. I LOVE this gym. Not sure if the 90-day thing will help me at all, but I'm hoping it will focus me for a little bit. Can't hurt. The facility in Canada is a Diamond club and NOT CHEAP, so another $25 doesn't feel like very much. :D
• Cafeteria napkins. I take 3 or 4 everytime I buy something and only ever use 1. They accumulate over time.
• Finally got it to size and it cut the end off! oh well, you get the idea! Thanks for the positive comments! I'm so stoked and I think I'll put away the scale until I'm done Stage 7 - it gives the wrong feedback. :)
• I would say that if you aren't getting your heart rate up during strength training, you probably aren't lifting enough weight. It should be hard. I have a Polar FT80 HRM and it has a strength training mode which gives me calories. Generally it aligns with what I would get if I chose "strength training" under cardio…
• A border collie named Kenzo. Growing up we had a black lab mix name Dawg - my older siblings named him and thought they were hilarious.
• With my son at Universal in Florida. It was a really nice day and this picture makes me feel fabulously young and happy! :)
• Just for reading KINDLE. But if you want to be able to take notes then I guess I'd go with iPad. I don't like reading on the iPad though - makes my eyes water after a while and I find it too heavy.
• Absolutely many of us have a new lifestyle. Mine includes the occassional high caloric treat (though BK annd pepsi would definitely NOT be my choice) but I agree with an earlier poster - never could I be stuffed or even full in a caloric deficit. Satisfied, yes. Full, no. I acknowledged in my original post that if it works…
