  • I'm training for my first half marathon and it's on September 6th. In Texas it will be HOT but its on the coast line. Hopefully that means there will be a breeze. I'm being pretty conservative with my goal time at 2:45. I'm training 5-6 days a week with crossfit 2-3 days a week. I recently finished the C2-10K training and…
  • I'm loving all of this advice. I looked up a bunch of training programs with suggestions for endurance. I'm going to pace myself with training and give myself about 6 months to get ready.
  • Ok that makes since. I can/will run at least 4 days a week. I also run 1-2 miles a day on my off days with crossfit. Thanks!
  • Thanks for the advice everyone. What do you mean by build my mileage base? Distance?
  • Hi, I'm Stephanie. I just finished the C25K program and decided to push on to training for a 10K. I never thought I'd like running enough to think about a 10K or half marathon but I do. Actually I still have a love/hate relationship with running. Tonight was day one of the 10K training and those extra 10 minutes weren't…
  • I hope it's a great plan! Haha.. We shall see I'm going to give it my all!
  • THANKS! The plan is to start training for the 10K with the zenlabs 10K trainer. I've been using that one and really like it. So I should finish RIGHT in time for the 10K on April 6th. I'm going to keep my pace nice and slow and work on speed later. I'll be running the 5K race route with my mom this coming Sunday to get…
  • Great job!! I just finished the program and I'm staring to train for a 10K too! Very addicting! :)
  • I DID IT! Slowed my pace down to 4.2-4.5 but I did it! :) You guys were right, it's all mental!
  • You guys made me feel so much better. I will slow my speed down for my run and push through this mental block telling me I don't know if I can do it. Next week is the big week!! :)
  • I keep wondering how slow I'll have to slow down. I have gone as slow as a 4.8 (treadmill) pace and it almost seems like cheating going slower than that but I may have to. Good idea about trying to concentrate on something else. My gym has a cinema room so I think I'll go in there to run.
  • Thanks for all of the advice but maybe I'm not in a good place today to hear it all today. I admire those of you who can only eat at home and eat clean.. go vegan but that's not me. Maybe I'll have to get to that point but I really don't want to go that extreme.
  • Thanks and yes I've been running for 2 months now. I'm currently doing C2-10K. It's not helping with the weight loss unfortunately.
  • Thanks. I think if anything I under eat most of the time. I've struggled with that a lot. I don't understand the science of losing weight.
  • That's great you look like you've lost inches. I have too. I guess I should add that in. I've lost over 13 inches on my body but I can't tell a big difference and I know the scale isn't moving. Thanks for the motivation!
  • Ok I did the chart and I know I eat way under 2600 calories a day. Even if I over ate like some of you said it wouldn't be by that much. I don't drink sodas either. I try to space out my snacks to build up my metabolism.
  • Ok I guess I will invest in a food scale. I just can't believe how hard it is to lose weight. Thanks everyone.
  • I tracked for a long time and eat a lot of the same meals so I stopped tracking but I'm starting it back up again to show a doctor. I don't have a food scale so I am eyeballing it but I'd like like to think that I guess over instead of under. I have tried several ranges of calorie levels from under 1200 up to 1800. Based…
  • GO YOU!!! That's AWESOME! Such a good pace too. :)
  • Ok. I'm glad I asked. I don't want to hurt myself and Mondays run was great. Hopefully my back will feel good tonight and I'll be able to squeeze in another run before Monday over the weekend. :)
  • Thank you! I needed to hear that for today's run! It's only day 1 of week 5 so I'm actually looking forward to it. It's the other 2 days I'm not super confident about but I'm excited to have them under my belt. I've never made it past week 5 so I'm determined to do it this time!
  • Welcome! My advice is to go at your own pace and go slow if you need to. I have had to slow down to make it through the longer runs and I'm now on week 5.
  • I hope you guys are right and it's all just mental. I'm doing day 1 of week 5 tomorrow and I plan on doing day 3 on Saturday! AHH! I'm nervous and excited at the same time! I like the slow down advice too. I'm going to pace myself and see how far I can get. Being overweight is such a struggle but I'm pushing myself and…
  • Keep at it! You can do it! It's hard but push yourself. I had to hold on to the treadmill bars last night for the last minute!
  • You are so right. I didn't think about it that way but 5 minutes is a great accomplishment!
  • I agree 100% it doesn't matter how long it takes us to finish as long as we do! :)
  • You can do it! Congrats on all of your weight loss!
  • That's exactly how I'm feeling. I finished day 2 yesterday and it was hard again but I did it!
  • You're doing great! I may have to repeat Week 5 day 1 a few times.
