  • oooh that does sound great, especially if i blend up the cottage cheese first!
  • it's also got parmesan cheese and "mediterranean" spices in it...you could probably skip the parmesan but if you added some italian seasoning i bet it would taste pretty close.
  • the zoo down there is great. there's also the wild animal park (farther outside of san diego) and legoland in carlsbad (about 1/2 hour north).
  • i eat homemade frozen breakfast burritos for breakfast every morning (sounds like it would get old but i vary each batch i make). it's pretty easy to vary the ingredients and i usually get 18-20 in a batch, so they last for a few weeks. here's my recipe: 1 bag of hashbrowns (you could use shredded sweet potatoes if you…
  • a cheap (and easy) thing to do is to get crockpot (you can find a decent one for <$30...a bit of an investment up front but it pays off quickly), frozen chicken breasts, and bottled sauces (bbq sauce, buffalo wing sauce, the target brand has "grilling" sauces that are yummy). then you just put a few frozen chicken breasts…
  • i'm not really a cat person so maybe i'm suggesting something impossible, but could another option be to talk to a vet or some kind of animal trainer, to determine if there's a way you could gradually get your cat to warm up to your little boy? or maybe this suggestion is even crazier, but i think they do have medication…
  • i switched from about 1280 (what MFP told me) to TDEE - 20% (between 1700 and 1900) about two weeks ago, after getting frustrated seeing the same pound come and go. since then i've lost almost 3 pounds and will hopefully be down another tomorrow! i think it keeps my metabolism going because my body doesn't get used to a…
  • this is exactly what i needed today...after working out every day this week, keeping under my calorie limit, and seeing the scale creep up each day. thanks!
  • if you really don't want to cut out the pasta, here's a wikipedia entry on shirataki noodles (i know there are other threads on these): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirataki_noodles the reviews are mixed on these but i have tried them myself and as long as you prepare them correctly, they are a good substitute. i've never…
  • i just tried something new this morning and it sounds gross but since i saw the "cottage cheese" thread i thought i'd share... i basically made egg salad but substituted cottage cheese for the mayo. i used one hard boiled egg, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, and salt and pepper. if you mix it really well, the consistency is…
  • Oh btw I am down another pound today... Thursdays are definitely a better weigh in day for me.
  • Hahahaha that made me laugh. I am sitting drinking in the airport right now because my flight to boston is delayed...going to a wedding so I am not hopeful about next week... Let me know where I can find one of those tapeworms.
  • weekly check in time...so monday i was up 1.5 pounds from last week. boo on that. but i wasn't surprised, considering i went beer tasting on saturday. weighed in again today and i am only .2 lb up from where i was last week. so i'm ok with that. probably still won't update it in my ticker though  how is everyone…
  • hopefully! there were times when i kept trying and trying and the scale wasn't moving too, especially right after i started working out (after a long period of inactivity). did you just start working out again? if so you could be gaining muscle but losing fat, so you're not seeing a net loss.
  • guess it was a lucky week for both of us! how's everyone else doing?
  • wow i was bad this weekend...my family was in town and i didn't record anything. we went to a wedding catered with mexican food so i think i blew my whole day's worth of calories there alone. somehow i still lost another pound, i'm flabbergasted but relieved! tonight i'm going back to the gym...haven't been in a long time…
  • of course you can join! good luck!
  • yahoo way to go! i'm down 1...not bad considering i went over my calories both sat and sun (not by as much as usual though!). i'm finding its getting easier to refuse temptations to overeat every day!
  • ...unless you're taking alli (i should tell that thread about this one).
  • i've had pretty good results using this recipe calculator: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php you just free text type in the amounts, and calculates the calories per serving. look at the "tips and instructions" to see how to enter them. by the way, i used to use the logging feature of that website and…
  • the ones i made had both tofu and yam flour in them. i found them at a place called plowboys in the refrigerated section but i'm pretty sure its local to southern CA. i haven't seen them at the big chain grocery stores but i'd be suprised if you couldn't find them at an asian grocery store. by the way, a few things i left…
  • i tried it and i wouldn't say it "helps" you eat healthy, more like "scares you into" eating healthy. the side effects are real, and not pretty if you overdo it on fat. let's just you can't really be discrete about letting out a toot or two. if you do the math, based on the recommendations by alli you're eating only 1200…
in alli? Comment by lisapisa81 May 2009
  • alright so this is a super old thread, but even with all the poor reviews i was still curious to try this type of noodle. the other day in a local grocery store, i saw they had different kinds of tofu shirataki noodles...they're not pure yam flour like the miracle noodles; they also have tofu in them. so i opened them and…
  • where did you get those numbers? i thought they said last week that they top two were separated by less than a million...although i do tivo it and fast forward through most of the talking so maybe i'm thinking of a different week...
  • oh by the way, i met my first nano-milestone...i've recorded everything i've eaten for the past week! no skipping weekends!
  • good job losing another pound! i weighed myself again this morning and i'm back down to last week's weight...even though i kept it more under control than normal this last weekend, i still drank some wine sunday night and i think that caused me to weigh a little more monday. we'll see what next monday brings! oh and i…
  • i agree with you 100%! i'll be voting for kris, if the phone lines let me through! adam is a great performer, but the whole rocker thing seems kinda fake (have you seen the pics of him as a preppy blond kid)? and i HATE how his sticks his tongue out when he hits the high notes.
  • a pound of fat = a pound of muscle (if you're talking about weight - pound is a unit of measurement of weight) a pound of fat > a pound of muscle (if you're talking about volume i.e. size). muscle is more dense than fat. mass = density * volume. so if you have something that is more dense, it takes up less volume for the…
  • i second the recommendation to train with team-in-training or a similar group. i ran a marathon in june '07 and my husband and i did all the training on our own, and although we made it through the race, we weren't prepared for the whole 26 (we only made it up to 21 miles before the marathon). team in training runs at…
