  • Me too! Wedding is in June. I have lost 14 pounds in the last 2 months and I am hoping to lose 30 more prior to the wedding. Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • How tall are you? Have you had your thyroid levels checked?
  • Well, "enjoyed" may be the wrong word, but you know what I mean!
  • I did Higdon Novice 2 and enjoyed it. What is your base mileage and current long run distance now?
  • Bump -- running second marathon in NYC this November. Looking for more runner pals on MFP -- feel free to add me!
  • bump -- thank you!
  • Check out Hal Higdon's plans for two marathons close in time.
  • I think it's a lot of racing within a short period time, but doable if your body is up for it. How do you feel? Why do you want to run the second marathon?
  • Also, did you go to an endocrinologist or to a GP to check your thyroid? Do you know which thyroid hormones they checked (there are 2 I believe, some GPs or even endos may only test one of the two).
  • Are you eating 1800 calories total, or 1800 net? Eating 1800 alone should in and of itself result in a moderate weight loss.
  • If you are open to it, you could open your diary for a bit. People might be able to give more informed advice b/c they can see what you are doing.
  • It's a bit of learning process. What works for others, might not work for you. Just keep tweaking and trying til you find what works for your body! What works for me is: 1) protein at each meal, 2) three meals and a snack, and 3) try adding volume to your food with vegetables.
  • I'm a couple of weeks of pre-training before starting a 20 week training program for the NYC marathon in November. Planning to lose 40 or so pounds (gulp!) by then. I feel pretty good that i can get there or at least pretty close if I stick to my diet.
  • Your body will process alcohol calories first rather than burning a mix of your body's stored carbs/fat, which is what it normally does when alcohol is not available. Try cutting down or even eliminating alcohol for a week or two. I bet you will see a difference.
  • Ok -- my thoughts. Before raising or lowering calories, I think you should consider the following: 1. Definitely eliminate or limit alcohol. Not only empty calories, but can significantly impact your body's ability to burn fat in general. 2. It looks like you have only been logging consistently this week (? -- maybe you…
  • To open your diary go to settings, then diary, and you should see an option to open your diary to friends or to the public. Re: eating out. Unless you go to places that report their calories (and even sometimes there I think they may underestimate) you lose an element of control over what are eating. I think there are some…
  • How much weight are you trying to lose?
  • Unless you are not logging everything you eat, it looks to me like you are not eating enough. Especially if you are working out, I would make sure to eat a minimum of 1200-1300 a day. Try to up your protein intake and water consumption as well -- that will help boost your metabolism. You may also want to throw a few more…
  • Sorry, for the multiple posts, but I keep thinking of new stuff! How confident are you that the calories you are putting in are accurate? I find that when I first started out I was slightly underestimating what I was eating and thus underestimating my cals. Do you measure or weigh food?
  • Also, if you open your diary, perhaps we can provide a better reply.
  • Sirius -- Have you been the doctor? Any possibility this is a thyroid issue?
  • I say go for it! Egg yolks contain tons of vitamins and essential fatty acids (relatively little found in the white). Also despite the fact that eggs contain cholesterol, many studies have now found that eating multiple eggs a day does not increase cholesterol and in fact can have a beneficial impact on cholesterol levels.…
  • You could also have a thyroid issue, particularly if you are feeling sluggish. Couldn't hurt to visit your GP or endocrinologist to check all of your thyroid levels. Hard for me to comment on the rest since your diet is not open. Are you eating 1200 total or net? Are you exercising? Do you eat a lot of protein?
  • That picture is so gross! Glad I don't eat there except some fries once or twice a year. I just made some chicken nuggets from skinnytaste.com So delicious and no pink goo was harmed in the making of lunch!
  • Also -some chinese restaurants might have a "summer" roll option, which is similar to a spring roll but not fried. A healthier and delicious option compared to a spring or egg roll (go easy on the dipping sauce though!).
  • Any meat and vegetable dishes w/ veggies steam and ver little sauce or oil. Chinese food dishes have some very good veggies like bok choy. Skip anything fried/crispy or with heavy sauces like spareribs. Soups are pretty good (even wonton is not that bad I believe, though egg drop and veggie are better) - just steer clear…
  • I agree -- you need to push for an earlier appointment, if only for your own state of mind. Honestly, maybe just try showing up at the office one day when she has patients and waiting for them to squeeze you in.
  • 1 - What is a zero calorie orange? 2- For strict weight loss purposes, it doesn't really matter when you eat. Eating breakfast and every 4 or so hours though will help keep blood sugar stable. If you are not too hungry during most of the day, your calorie spread is probably fine. 3- Hard do say if what you are doing is…
  • Your BMR automatically adjusts as weight changes (mine is estimated at about 30 calories lower than when I started). Your calorie limit might change, depending on what your goal is (i.e. previoiusly you could eat net 1360 and lose a pound a week now you have to eat 1330 to lose a pound a week). Your settings (i.e., my goal…
  • Start doing training that would allow you to run a longer race (like a 10k). You will be increasing distance you are running, which will invariably result in a lowering of your 5k time. Agree with the others on running outside.
