  • @kdbulger - You hit the nail on the head in terms of just DO-ing it. I do feel that one thing that has been transformative for me is that I have confidence in who I am as a person, so my motivation is not external - it's internal. I feel like I spent most of my 20's caring about what other people thought. Now, the only…
  • I have made an amazing pasta with arugula, asparagus, crumbled bacon, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Super light and delicious!
  • Walmart bakery has everything bread and it’s delicious. I toast that and mash the avocado with a little lemon juice, salt, red pepper flakes and arugula. Also good topped with a little crumbled bacon. YUM!
  • Thank you so much! This is definitely the most comprehensive I've ever seen, and honestly, there are probably a handful of things on here or more that apply to me. I will dig in!
  • I think I specifically said that I may be miscalculating, despite trying diligently to be accurate. I hadn’t previously used a food scale but read packages, scanned barcodes, and measured using measuring cups. Since it was pointed out in this thread by multiple people that none of those things actually work well, I’ve…
  • I should also say that up until I started tracking again (6-ish weeks ago), I was probably eating close to double this amount of calories in a day, so I’ve cut WAY back.
  • I have an appt w/a personal trainer tomorrow so maybe that will help. I’ve worked w/a nutritionist before but I’ve noticed that things have definitely changed since I had my second baby and got old! Haha! I just need to figure out what will work for me now. I’ve done really well on Whole30, but that’s not sustainable for…
  • I weigh 167 and my goal is 140. I’m eating between 1200 and 1300 calories a day. Sometimes i do add more for exercise but on those days i have always finished under goal. I’m either tracking things according to the package (I.e. 1 pkg of oatmeal is 100 calories), or I’m measuring to the extent possible. I’ll scan barcodes…
  • Wow! Amazing job!
  • Welcome! Sounds like you're on the right track. Aside from exercise and healthy eating, have you had your thyroid checked or a physical to see if anything else is going on that could be making weightloss more challenging?
  • Back after a long hiatus and also a mom that doesn't take herself too seriously but serious about dropping some LBs. I love zombies & 90's rap so you're in good company. :) Feel free to add me.
  • I think I go here. 😊 37, mom of two little girls, and finally trying to get serious about kicking the 20-30lb I have to lose. I lost all my baby weight almost 2 years ago, and then gained 20lb back because I’m a stress eater and life got chaotic. I’m over it! Glad to be here with all the other middle-agers ready to do the…
  • I have so many petty reasons. 1) My husband is super in shape and spends hours everyday at the gym. I don't want to be the fat wife. 2) My 20 year reunion is coming up and I don't want to be one of the people that "let herself go." 3) I want to wear a swimsuit at the beach instead of a baggy t-shirt to hide under.
  • I totally agree with this. I got one of the Venti sized insulated cold cups from Starbucks and end up drinking several cups per day.
  • Thank you all for the great advice....too many to quote. The grating part is when people keep pushing, especially since I was NEVER one to turn down a dessert or pretty much any form of junk food and it is SO hard for me to say no. My problem - not theirs! I set the precedent, and now I am changing the rules.:) I do…
  • Thank you so much for this. I think you summed up pretty well how I feel. I know I don't have ton to lose, but I know how much of a struggle it is for me. I appreciate the compliments, and the good intentions behind them, but it is hard for me when people are pushing things on me that I know are bad for me, without knowing…

  • This is an excellent point. Thank you for this.
  • I agree with this. And I don't think I am articulating myself well. For example, if I am out to dinner with friends, it will be a situation of me ordering a salad, them ordering a burger and fries, and then pestering me about why I didn't order a burger. I don't bring it up - they do. I think that is what bugs me. Just let…
  • I get what you are saying, but the thing is, I am NOT pissed if people say that I need to lose weight. I would LOVE it if someone said, "hey, we should go to they gym together" or "let's go somewhere healthy for dinner." I am pretty straightforward, and am not really delicate in terms of getting my feelings hurt. I think…
  • Only down 3 lbs since starting MFP, but hoping that I can kick it into high gear and keep pace with this group! :)
  • I just joined today, but since I started MFP, I have lost 3 pounds. Not much, but my pants are fitting looser, so I hope that means something positive. Hoping to be down another 22 pounds by Christmas. :)
  • I'm 31 and am new to the site, but serious about getting my weight under control. I have about 25-30 pounds and plan to be around every day. Hoping I can help motivate, but also gain some motivation from others. Feel free to add me!
  • I'm new here too, and am also looking to lose 25-30 lbs. Feel free to add me! It always helps to have friends along the way. :)
