  • Yeah, that's what I want to do but I'm afraid the test won't be valid if I up now? But I'm still really hungry like all the time so I really want more noms.
  • Ok, so today was the planned day of the start of my 250 cal test. I say was because I gained like 5 pounds of water weight on memorial day (it has to be water. I logged my food and I only went like 200 cals over) and it still isn't gone and I'm weighing in at 135 instead of the 132 that is my usual. Waist measurement is…
  • I wasn't doing any particular posing, mostly focusing on camera angle both times. I also never wear those shorts, they're for summer sleeping and haven't been needed yet! Maybe I did lose a little fat and gain a little muscle? Either way, that gives me confidence to do the 250 cal test. I also haven't gotten a big increase…
  • I wouldn't count on any appreciable amount of iron coming from your skillet. The amount is very small, especially with a well seasoned pan, and variable so it is impossible to log. Instead, improved iron absorption by combining it with Vitamin C ingestion, and separated from calcium, which inhibits absorption. If you…
  • Ok, weight is all the way back down to 132 the last two days. I'm pretty surprised that I didn't gain in Vegas, and I have been estimating on my diary lately due to eating at friends houses and restaurants. I'm at a choosing point now. Path A is to eat at estimated maintenance of 2300 calories for 1-2 weeks and then cut…
  • The mental game of weight is by far the hardest IMO. As I'm sure you've noticed by reading my progress journal (inspired by yours btw), I'm having much more mental struggles than physical ones. I applaud you for finding that your true TDEE (at that time) was so much higher than estimated, I don't think I'll be able to do…
  • Wow, you're actually losing weight! That's so cool :) What's your estimated TDEE?
  • Sounds good! Yeah, I think this is mostly water, but the way I was eating I would be astonished if I didn't put some fat on. The 250 calorie test sounds terrifying, but hopefully I'll have the guts to do it in a few weeks! I understand the purpose, but man its hard to actually do it.
  • I have a diary that I've been keeping of my journey a few posts down if you want to look. What's important to keep in mind is that you will not lose weight by eating more. What you will do is restore your metabolism, so that you can lose weight in the future. I know that can be scary, but right now you've been spinning…
  • I went to Vegas for the weekend for my birthday. Super fun, but today the scale read 133.5. I think I'll keep going with my normally planned increase and hope most of it is water. I know some of it isn't, but the measuring tape didn't move much so most of it should be. Does that sound right? Also, I'm getting close to my…
  • I have had freak outs too. Just breathe :)

  • Try this and then see what your body does. You are aiming for a 10% cut, so if it ends up being 15% it's not the end of the world and you can adjust. If it ends up being a 5% cut you can adjust that too.
  • Use adjusted body weight with an obese individual. I haven't seen anything over .8g/lb (of ABW in this case) to be beneficial, although I admit I haven't looked at obese studies in this scenario (if someone has, let me know). I would actually err on the side of less in case of kidney complications without a creatinine and…
  • You might want to wait and just plan ahead more tomorrow. No use being overfull and not sleeping well tonight!
  • Went up to 2100 calories on Friday. Weight has been about 132 the whole time, including this morning which is a big surprise because I ate so much food yesterday, at least 2500 calories, likely slightly more. BUT I kayaked for 2 hours, and did half of a step class that I don't normally do on Sundays. Measurements had…
  • I'm excited to hear the answer to that. I do the same thing myself sometimes, although right now I'm on a reverse diet so I figure I really should eat just about all of my calories or there is no point in doing it....
  • I think it's going to tempt more new users as opposed to existing ones. If I was doing calorie cycling it might be worth it, but I'm not so....
  • Forgot to say that I'm (well basically) 25. Birthday in 2 weeks. I walk a lot, log about 14,000 steps a day in my fitbit, less than 4,000 of those are from my actual workouts. I lift (kinda) heavy 3 days per week for about 1.5 hours, including warm up and cool down. I do step aerobics once a week, and step and strength 3…
  • What was your fitbit saying your total burn was before? Maybe take the difference and go off that number, so if it said you were at a burn of 2450 before, assume TDEE is 2650 now (2800-150) and then do a 15% cut from there
  • Going to Vegas in 2 weeks! And then Glacier national park in a month. Haven't planned further than that yet, we shall see :)
  • There was an recent published article that compared people with different eating frequencies, and they found a significant difference in BMI (27 vs 29) in those who ate >6 meals per day and those who ate <3. Those who ate more meals ate fewer calories but a higher volume of food, with more fruits and veggies and less…
  • I think I'm going to start a full reset, thought I could just go up to the cut value but it's not working for me. How long did you stay at your TDEE? What did you think it would be when you started? And how did you go about increasing calories? (I was thinking of starting with a larger bump of 250 calories, which I know my…
  • I LOVE this idea. Just sayin.
  • I did 100 pushups today and Tuesday all on my toes :) It was in 10 sets of 10, but last time we did this (in the Fall) I only got to 60 or 70 before I had to move to my knees
  • What about the HR? It just seems odd to have the same burn for a light zumba vs an intense circuit class. And it didn't seem to catch my HR at all when it was too high.
  • It worked for a minute but then my zip shut down again :( Any other ideas? I'll try again just in case. Well, now that I have the HR (I was going to buy it in a month anyway, although I was going to still use my zip) I have a quick question. I do swing dancing (lindy hop) on Friday nights. I'm trying to figure out whether…
  • My trainer has be doing goblet squats if that helps?
  • So what is the advantage of the Charge HR over the zip?
  • It depends on the injury. Your body will need extra calories to heal properly. It's surprising how much!
  • Dancing is always fun :) I love swing dance! They have swing, latin, and ballroom dance nights in most cities
