  • Thanks everyone. I'll do some more research. I think the reason I keep my so low is that i don't eat processed foods generally speaking. Fresh fruits, veggies, and protein have what they have in the sodium content department. I assume those are accurate in the tracker, but based on this, I'll do more research instead of…
  • I have the fitbit and love it so much I bought one for my cousin, which she then lost (they are small). I looked, and I found a replacement for $30 on Craigslist. Amazon sells them for $89. It has really made me move around more. I like that I walk enough stairs to = the world's tallest pencil, the statue of liberty, etc.…
  • I worked with a nutritionist years ago, so I didn't follow a particular plan, but she had me cut out anything processed and since then I've spent countless hours looking for ways to substitute this for that. I have found that cauliflower is the wonder non-carb for replacing rice and mashed potatoes. I'm not a fan of the…
  • Its a whole knew learning experience for me too. At 42, I had a hard time learning all the new rules at first. But, with the help of a nutritionist, logging EVERYTHING, and reading as much as I could, after a few weeks it got easier. It isn't just exercise, it really is about what goes in. It will get easier.…
  • I doubt I'll find mine either, but I love the idea of having a "twin" for extra motivation, ideas, and support. 42yo 5'4" SW: 272 CW: 243.2 (hey, the little increments count too!) GW: 175-165 (we'll see when I get closer)
  • You should consider getting a fitbit or other device to measure your calories burned. My cousin burned 1001 calories last week doing one hour of general circuit training.
  • I've tried dieting before and, so far, this time I'm doing really well, right out of the gate. The only difference between this time and all the other times is MFP. Don't ask me why and I've only been on the site for a month and a half, but it is such a great tool. Counting calories is good. Logging everything down to the…
  • Are you sure your body isn't retaining fat because its in starvation mode? How under 1200? Mostly, I agree with Fuzz. The scale can say I haven't lost a thing and I could (usually) care less. Am I in a smaller pant size? Then we have success. My goals aren't numbers, they are things like "get into these pants". I care…
  • Every now and again, when buying fruits and veggies, I'll pick up a 5 pd bag of potatoes. I have no idea if its a one for one, I doubt it, but mentally realizing how tired my lower back gets holding a few 5 pd bags.... That's motivating.
  • Wait. You're getting a big payoff? They promised me I was the only one. Dang. I think I might have been had.
  • The contracting office that keeps posting answers to questions, revisions, amendments, and all things to ruin my life AFTER 6:30pm every Friday since Christmas weekend. is it too much to ask to get ONE weekend off. or how about just one Friday night to myself. You selfish, selfish.... SMACK
  • I have to have crunch in my diet life, so I can't live without my Pirate's Booty. 140 cals for 1oz. Low sodium too. I also like roasted chick peas to replace popcorn. Speaking of, I couldn't live without my cauliflower. It replaces mashed potatoes, rice, and, I recently discovered, pizza dough. My last staple would be my…
  • Jason Statham...... I'm going to need a moment. My friends and I all have a top 5 list. Mine isn't laminated since every now and again it requires revision. Question, is it wrong that mine has Colin Firth, only because he is the best Mr. Darcy ever?
  • - Completely agree with the spitting thing. Ugh, gives me the heebbie jeebies. - People saying "same difference". Gack. It cannot be the same if it is different! - People standing on a soap box declaring their OPINION is correct and not willing to discuss or debate. - People getting so worked up about their opinions that…
  • What was the calorie/protein count? Might be worth considering. I think I'm sticking to actual crab meat for now.
  • I've been doing the caulimashed potato version for years. Makes a great sheppards pie topping. But this is a great idea as well. Thanks for sharing!
  • I'm working with PWLC, which is tons of protein. Yeah, I'm losing weight, but boy am I having a challenge with constipation. I have found that a sendokot (sp?) or two at bedtime and a cup of coffee in the morning helps me when it occurs. I also upped my water and decreased my iron and that generally keeps it from being a…
  • I can't have a specific faturday. Then I'd spend all week thinking about it and I'd go way overboard. For me, I have to focus on the good stuff. I have only been healthy now for two months, but eating bad food tends to make me sick. My body doesn't handle it well. That said, I go out to restaurants with friends at least…
  • Thanks everyone for the information. I'll definitely read the links you all sent. I don't think salt is evil, I just don't care for a lot of salt. I was worried that I should start adding it since my sodium intake according to MFP is significantly below the goal number. I'll read up and figure it out.
  • I was leaning shark, but now I'm definitely going with the polar bear.
  • I've only had it since this past Saturday, but I love it. I saw some of the reviews, but I haven't had the same issues. Its ridiculously easy to use. At first I had trouble getting it to do things and syncing everything up, but I went back and read the instructions and then it all worked out. I am particularly impressed…
  • It's not impossible. I've done it myself. It's probably water weight, but the point is, I can step on a scale and go up 5 pds from one morning to the next. It's not often, and it generally has to be a lot of carbs, cheese, and/or sodium, but its doable. Water will fix it.

  • All of these are so inspiring to me. Whether it's to gain or lose, we are all getting healthy. I LOVE these types of posts. Height: 5'4" SW: 272 CW: 247 Goal: Technically, its 175. but, i want to see what that's like and then I'll probably lower it. At 42, I don't know if I can be 165 or even 155. It seems completely…
  • I think that people who are on their own journey doing well want everyone on their bandwagon. It's like people in relationships, they want everyone to be in love and in a relationship. Their way is obviously better. Right? Having said that.... I like to see the feedback and alternative, not-asked-for opinions people leave…
  • I switched to soy a long time ago and it has less calories and fat. For those times when you need a flavor, Stevia and Splenda come in flavors now. I found them on Amazon. not sure if the grocery stores carry. Stevia has fun flavors like chocolate raspberry and vanilla creme. Splenda, which I normally hate, has hazelnut.
  • I fell of the wagon a time or two myself. And I couldn't get back into gear because I forgot how hard the first week or two can be getting "on the ball" and I got discouraged. It's always hard to get started, or restarted, but if you stick with it, mysteriously and magically you'll look back and see you've made it over the…
  • For me, I thought my OH NO moment was seeing pictures of myself at a friends wedding. In hindsight, I kept ignoring it because I was embarrassed to admit how bad my problem is/was. Then, I thought my OH NO moment was when I got on the scale and realized I was closer to 300 than 200. That scared me, but still too…
  • Personally, I think you should remember you are human. I do great for weeks and then I get distracted by work or I'm out with friends or, yeah, that time of the month. I'm going to be bad. It happens. I'm human. I set a time limit I'm allowed to feel bad about it. I earned the guilt trip. But, continued floggings don't…
  • People in my office know I'm dieting and losing weight. Then someone brought out pictures from last years Christmas Party and everyone was in shock. They couldn't believe the difference AND my hair was longer. They couldn't get over how much everyone had changed, they just needed to see the before and afters because we see…
