I understand your dilemma! Personally if I know I'm going to have a lot of alcohol that night, I budget the rest of my daily calories around it - salad and lean proteins earlier in the day. In general I don't like sugary drinks too much though, I generally have red wine or a mojito (which I usually ask for without sugar).

honestly there's no reason to be scared of oil or fat... just don't overdo it. but to cook without oil, you can try steaming (steamed chicken is a traditional chinese recipe), poaching or baking your meats/fish/vegetables... some people replace the tahini and oil in hummus with vegetable stock/broth, but it definitely does…

Is your profile picture recent? You look really healthy and fit in it! i'm just going to echo what above users said -- you really don't have much to lose, so don't worry about seeing immediate results. eat healthy but allow yourself treats, and get in some regular exercise. it's probably best if you eat at home more often…

maybe a little intimidating at first, but eventually friendly

Daivasimone, that first salad looks amazing! (Minus the brussel sprouts...)

other than brazil, these don't surprise me. i do think that genetics plays a big part in this, especially for south asians. add to that the fact that these countries all have rapidly developing economies and growing middle classes (which eat out more, buy lots of fried/junk food, etc) and there you go...

i love popsicles! thanks for this.

i agree. the rest of my [asian] family eats a bowl of good quality PLAIN white rice at every meal and they're all fit and healthy, and the rice we eat is fragrant and delicious. i get that brown rice has more fiber, but if it doesn't taste good to you i don't think it should be worth it. i don't personally understand the…

yesterday, some yogurt-flavored gelato with chopped fruit from my favorite gelateria in milano today i'm trying out a gelateria i've never visited before - will probably try their pistachio flavor

for me, i drink green tea because i grew up doing so :) i like the taste, and assuming you add nothing to it it's zero calories i don't know about all the magic effects it's supposed to have, although apparently most caffeinated beverages should have an appetite-curbing effect

studies have shown that spices do serve as a mild metabolism booster & appetite suppressant. (a source: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110425173902.htm) that said, i'm asian and eat spicy food every day... pretty sure i've built immunity to any miraculous weight-loss effects of spicy food. :P

some studies have shown that produce high in vitamins c & b can lose some nutrients when frozen. on the other hand, fresh produce begins to lose nutrients as soon as it's plucked off its vine/tree/whatever so it's a toss-up i think. i go with frozen because it's more compact and i don't need to worry about eating…

it's strawberry season so lots of fresh strawberries! i also like to roll a small amount of smoked salmon around a tsp or two of light cream cheese.

i'll be the odd one out and say i'm not a big fan of pizza! not a big fan of italian flavors and seasonings in general (especially oregano, blech!) this makes things somewhat difficult, seeing as i live in italy. :P

unless i overate the day before, i also tend to be super hungry upon waking..
