  • It is more important to do what is right, or to be right?
  • This took me awhile to figure out too..."NSV" stands for Non Scale Victory! If it weren't for these types of victories for me right now...this journey would be quite depressing!

  • I can't lift that much, I'd put my back out. Oh, wait.
  • ok..so I'm guessing my avocado isn't ripe enough. I'm learning this now after watching some you tube videos on the subject. What would I do without you tube? I've had this problem before with my food processor though. Can't ever seem to get things to the creamy stage. Any advice??
  • No pills, no fad diets. New me, new attitude towards food. I need to learn why I eat more than my body needs to be healthy and balanced. I am striving to eliminate as many chemicals and man made synthetics as I can. I am trying to decrease my unnecessary hormone/nitrate/preservative in general consumption. I do use protein…
  • Wrap around ear buds are a definite must at the gym and for running. You won't regret the purchase!
  • awesome! thank you for posting!!
  • I had the pregnant comment before too. I'm an apple shape and have never been pregnant. I can remember kids taunting me in school because I couldn't run. I've also been yelled at as I've been walking down the street. Can't believe people can be so insensitive. You are beautiful, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
  • Have you tried getting a second opinion from a different doctor? I'm amazed at what one provider will test for versus the next. Have you been tested for hypothyroidism? I know it's uncommon in men..but it might explain a lot. Also, I'd pursue Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care. This is a specific kind of chiropractic that…
  • White Cheddar popped corn. Is that bag really empty already?
  • ((hugs)) I hear you. I often wonder which is worse, the judgement of others, or the judgements we place on ourselves. Hope you find you can love for yourself and can move forward with a clean conscience.
  • Make a salmon loaf. It's like meatloaf and was my favorite dish growing up! All it takes is a little egg, skim milk, salt & pepper, and some crushed saltine crackers. I think I found my current recipe on allrecipes.com. Yum!
  • Congrats! I'm another "fat girl" who ran her first 5K this past May. My time was 36:36 and I was 36 years old at the time. So excited for you. Fantastic job!!

  • I vote wear shoes. Lack of arch support can lead to flat feet. I woke up one morning with planter fascitis. Horrible heal pain. I've had to wear expensive orthotics ever since. Be good to your feet. Wear good shoes.
  • Thanks! I'm considering calculating my BMR for just the weekend and switching it to a higher calorie goal for these two days. Maybe I'd be more app to log and feel better about it if I could eat more and still stick to my goal. I think I would go from "sedentary" to "active" from week to weekend. Its hard trying to figure…
  • Way to go! Isn't it great to not be so miserably full that you can't enjoy yourself? I'm so happy for you. Sounds like you are finding the key to unlocking your secret to weight loss. Congrats!!
  • I wish you the best with your goals. I also started over 200 lbs and I'm 5'2". I've got about 20 lbs to go. I just wanted to let you know that you are in good company using mfp. Lots of friends, advice, and community to share in your journey. Congratulations and continued success to you!
  • I'm not there yet...but I've lost 74lbs and am closing in on my goal. Please know that you can do this. Make a commitment to yourself and better health. For me the big change has been figuring out how to get 5 workouts into my weekly routine. Slowly but surely I've made changes in what I eat and how much I eat. I've also…
  • I'm in the same boat. I'd love to get some answers on how to get a jumpstart at this point!
  • Personally..I like having clothes in my closet that fit...and I have nothing in there that is too big. I used to have lots of pants that I could only wear with certain types of shirts..etc. It makes me feel good to have only clothes in my closet that I can wear, that look good no matter how or what I wear them with. Just a…
  • I think you definitely need to eat more calories. I'm 5'2" and have a desk job. Right now I'm eating about 1400 calories a day and eating back most of my exercise calories. When I was eating less than this I couldn't loose. I've heard it's really hard to loose when you get that close to your goal. But sounds to me like you…
  • Thanks! I appreciate all of your advice!
  • I'm new to C25K...and I've got a question. Last week was my week 1. The plan says to not overdue. So I only worked out 4 times last week for 25 min total each time. Do you think it is ok to add in precor/walking etc on the off days? I'm super new to running and don't want to hurt myself. Would it be better just to start…

  • depending on how expensive it is...why couldn't we just get a new license when get to our goal weight? I think our state fee is about $15...I realize others are probably more expensive.
  • The only thing in my experience that can quench stress like you are describing is the peace you can receive through a relationship with Jesus Christ. I don't claim to have all the answers to the problems in life. I am also experiencing some pretty deep suffering in my life. I am learning that filling emptiness with food…
  • I went through the same thing last summer...although I'm heavier than you are. Follow your doctors orders! You do not want to overdue it because you can delay your recovery time severely. You can end up back in the hospital with blown stitches and bleeding and that recovery is way tougher than the first operation I'm told.…
