  • fantastic idea!
  • What about quinoa or black beans (or a mixture of both)? Would provide more fiber and protein than rice.
  • Also a good idea! Try some frozen chicken breasts, 1/2 bag frozen corn 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed) and 1/2 jar of salsa. When it's done you can shred the chicken (1 fork in each hand, poke them in the chicken back to back and pull apart) and make it into tacos.
  • Pick some meat that can be baked like chicken breasts or pork chops. Throw some Mrs Dash on them and bake them on 350 ~20 minutes (depending on thickness). Get some steamable veggies from the freezer aisle and cook as directed. Get a package of quinoa and cook in chicken broth according to the package instructions. I'd…
  • Some pastas specify on the label if it's a dry weight or cooked weight. With stuff like that I like to weigh it before it's cooked to know I'm cooking the right amount, then again after to know how much my indivual portion should be (ie the final cooked weight is 400 gm and I cooked 4 servings so I know I need to weigh out…
  • Thanks everyone. I've been relying on the treadmill because I have to use the daycare at my gym, I know I'm not ready to run while pushing a stroller. But I've found a few opportunities to run outside. I've used Runtastic a couple of times now and I think it'll work well for me. What are your exercise and eating routines…
  • What brand do you get? I get the Wholly Guacamole and it's really good.

  • What if you plan/prep your meals ahead of time? It will help you stay on track and also make cooking quicker/easier while you're trying to study. I gotta have some chocolate when I'm stressed so fit some in. Have you tried the mini Snickers ice cream bars? They are delicious and only 90 calories.
  • "You're sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!"
  • While flipping channels one day I stopped on Jeopardy for a few minutes and they had the category Potent Potables. I think they should try to work in all the SNL celebrity Jeopardy categories :)
  • One of my favorite meals is a chicken wrap. I have found low carb tortillas for ~60 calories that I use for wraps, tacos, quesadillas, etc. I'm not anti-carb, I just like that they have 1/2 the calories of a regular tortilla. You can really put anything you want in a wrap but mine is usually 2oz of chicken, spinach, feta…
  • Try being strict about portion control. Sometimes I know my hubby wants to go back for more but I remind him that if he gets more there won't be enough for us to each have leftovers for lunch the next day. Stretching the food further does help!
  • Here are several recipes: http://www.cookinglight.com/food/recipe-finder/cooking-with-quinoa-00412000073996/page27.html I usually just have it as a side so I keep it simple. Cook it in low-fat/low-sodium chicken broth and add onions, garlic and whatever dried spices I'm in the mood for. This recipe intrigues me. I may have…
  • I'm also thinking of doing my 1st 5k. It's not until the end of May so I have plenty of time to train. My question is: If I'm doing most of my training on a treadmill, what should my speed be? I can already go 15 min or so with the treadmill set at 5.0 or 5.2 mph. I usually go 2-2.5 miles on the treadmill but the first &…
  • Next time you're out, maybe get the 12-pack of the mini eggs so you can have a couple here and there. Cadbury Eggs are my FAVE! Easter candy is my downfall. Except for Peeps, Peeps are icky :noway:
  • Calcium in antacids can cause constipation as well as an increased protein in your diet.
  • And the cholesterol is in the yolk, which you said you don't really eat. Eggs are a low fat source of protein, so enjoy!
  • Yes! Thank you!
  • I had a fitbit and loved it. Note I said "had" I went through 4 of the things in a little over a year. They just randomly stopped working. Then when I contacted the company to get a replacement they kept trying to tell me how to fix it instead of just sending a replacement. After the 4th one quit working, I decided I was…

  • If you really don't want to eat the chocolate for the sake of calories, look for a less calorie dense chocolate. If you are craving peanut M&Ms, try the pretzel M&Ms instead. If you're craving a cupcake, try a 90 calorie Fiber One brownie, etc.

  • Not trying to be argumentative, but this only applies to the lunch menu and only if you don't order any sides. Here is a link to the nutritional information. http://www.seasons52.com/menu/nutrition.asp#
  • As a dip for baked chips or eat with tomato wedges.
  • Perhaps you could use exercise to distract you from the stress it's causing you. I'm assuming you'll want to date again eventually and want to feel confident in yourself when doing so, confidence is sexy, after all. ;) Having to lose the weight AGAIN isn't worth the 60 seconds of "happiness" that a Snickers bar might bring.
  • I've used it in the past to track sleep. I know I wake up more that it says I do, so I stopped using it for that.
  • Read, take a bubble bath, fold laundry. I used to work that shift. Things I recommend against: watching food network (I always got ridiculous burger or burrito cravings at 1 am when everything was closed) and watching Ghost Adventures :noway:
  • This thread kind of went in 2 different directions: limiting carbs for weight loss & limiting carbs for medical conditions. I personally do not agree with low carb diets for the sake of weight loss. Your brain primarily relies on the energy from carbs (a very simplified statement from what I learned in Human Biochemistry)…
  • I agree with this. Pre-portioned food is a little more expensive but could be worth it for you. Or buy containers/baggies and portion it out yourself. I'm terrible with chips. I'll tell myself "one more chip will be ok" but then I tell it to myself another 10 times and by then I've had an extra 120 calories :-/ It's harder…
  • Anybody tried it with the Whipped Jif chocolate/PB? I've never had the patience to put that stuff on anything else, just eat it strait out of the tub.
  • I went to that website but it's just a link to sign up for the course. How can I look at some of the course info?
