  • I have friends who are vegetarian, and it doesn't bother me (and they aren't bothered by my being an omnivore). The only comments I'll make are occasionally asking them for menu or recipe suggestions the times I've given up meat for Lent, and they're generally quite obliging.
  • Received: k (Gee, can you tell I have a teenager? )
  • Honestly? I'd like for my daughter to be truly happy again. Middle school and depression suck *kitten*.....
  • In general, I prefer the treadmill - no heat, rain, or mosquitoes! Also, I can treadmill at midnight or so if I need to, or interact with my family. Also, I can read on the treadmill (at least until I get fit enough to run instead of walk) Also, where I live doesn't have much in the way of terrain. Coastal Florida is…
  • 5'9 here, and my goal weight is 175 (25%bfp). Ideally maybe slightly lower (22%bfp), and I would love to get back into size 10s (I'm in 14s now). Being in my 40s, I'm not sure 18%bfp is a wise goal. Besides, I think my husband would prefer me to still actually have boobs when I'm done! My lowest weight at my height…
  • Chobani greek yogurt. It's been mango the past couple of days but I like most of their other flavors as well.
  • Most unique: Shiner Bock ice cream, at Amy's in Austin TX (mentioned by other folks earlier). Also, ginger ice cream (from a Japanese restaurant). Favorite: Hard to say - my late grandfather used to make an awesome black raspberry homemade ice cream. I'm also partial to several of the gelato flavors I tried in Italy. If it…
  • I'll give most craft beers a try at least once. Favorite breweries (so far) are Stone, Dogfish Head, Ommegang, Widmer... Also, almost anything brewed in a monastery. (Trappists brew kicka$$ beer because they can't get laid - that's my theory and I'm sticking to it!) Recent other favorites are St. Bernardus 12, and Left…
  • My binary wristwatch gets a number of comments, ranging from 'cool!' to utter confusion....
  • Nerd and geek here by popular definition. Software engineer by trade, bookish bespectacled social outcast growing up, still a bookish bespectacled introvert in my early 40s. Not as much of an outcast now that I live and work in an area with a lot of fellow engineers and introverts. 20+ year tabletop gamer (mostly AD&D),…
  • Mine are: Coffee with cream Chobani (assorted flavors make up 7 of the top 10 but I'm just going to count as 1) Dunkin Donuts turkey sausage wakeup wrap unsweetened iced tea baby carrots mini sweet peppers ryvita crispbreads (assorted) chick-fil-a side salad chick-fil-a diet lemonade popeyes spicy chicken wing :embarassed:…
  • This. Spiders, snakes, I'm perfectly fine with. (Used to own a snake, even). But roaches...*shudder*. I'm not happy until they've been pounded into their component atoms. And down here in Florida, those b***ers are big and they *fly* :noway:  Of course, that's not really a secret :/ My daughter tends to try a…
  • 5'9 and 205# - I wear a 14 - having to buy 14W's because regular 14s were starting to get too snug and I refused to go to 16 was my biggest wake-up call. I'd love to be back in 12s by the end of the year and if I can ever get back to 10 that would be just awesome. My lowest ever as an adult was a 6, but I was 5'9 and 115#.…

  • Ginger with a ginger daughter here. My poor salt/pepper husband is outnumbered!
  • Someone already beat me to suggesting canned tuna. Cheap, can often be found on sale in the grocery store (Publix often has BOGO on them), and has a shelf life in years so you can stock up when you find the sales. My husband and daughter often eat it straight from the can as a snack. Edit: Bah, someone snuck in before me…
  • Just under 5'9 here, currently 205 (down from 215). I'll never see 130 again, but I am aiming for 175 (which would be 25% BFP with my current muscle mass). Anything under that where I'm still healthy would be awesome!
  • I can't add anything other than my own self as a data point - I generally avoid aspartame in drinks because I get headaches and nausea from it. And it doesn't take much of a diet soda (or even a zero-calorie flavored water) to do that. But even things like gums and medicines have aspartame in, so I have to be mindful.…
  • I'm heavier than all of the countries :( Rather a discouraging statistic. But on the other hand, given that I'm 4" taller than the average American, I'm likely to be even taller than the average Micronesian. So  to their statistics...
  • Another Space Coast denizen here...
  • My first thought with 'donor meat' was actually food pantry/soup kitchen.... But kebab meat makes more sense, and there do seem to be a few entries for 'doner' or 'donar' meat in MFP's database.
  • I'm glad to hear you're going to counseling and will try to work it out :) Anything truly worthwhile is worth the effort. In a way I've been in your shoes - only 7 months between meeting and marriage (and most of that 7 months was long-distance), and I was 20 at the time. It certainly hasn't been all sunshine and roses…
  • Realizing my teen daughter has never been in a world without Google, when I remember a time when all most people knew of the Internet was Usenet and BBSes. That, and having to explain to my teen what a "typewriter" was (she recognized the object later, just didn't know what it was called)....
  • 1. Queen 2. Great Big Sea (thought about saying Rush here, but they're more of a 'everyone either loves them or hates them' band) 3. Rolling Stones (sorry - I think they have maybe *one* song I like, and that's it)
  • Spoon. Probably a tablespoon - hips are 4" larger than my chest :( Yay (?) childbearing hips....
  • I was a stick growing up - was 5'9 and 115# when I got married, and stayed relatively thin despite eating what I wanted until I had my kid (about 8 years after marriage) - I put on a lot of weight while pg - 45#, and that's with a 6-week preemie. (I weighed 200 when I delivered...) I managed to lose all of that weight and…
  • My daughter decided she was giving up meat this Lent, so hubby and I will be going pescetarian as well. I think that should also serve to improve our overall health. As an added kicker for me, I'm going to try to learn to drink my coffee black. I've taken it without sugar for years, but I can't take it without cream. And…
  • My default is "YYZ" by Rush. Hubby is the Ramblin' Wreck (Georgia Tech fight song), daughter's is the Doctor Who theme (11th doctor), Stepdaughter is Evanescence's "Going Under", Stepson is Rush's "Subdivisions", with a few others scattered around.
