All I can think of is Donner when I see this, and I don't want to know the calories of that.

I think it's "doner". Donor meat just sounds...wrong.

Ha, I thought the same thing! Though cannibalism seems to be all the rage lately.

Here in Alberta I usually see it spelled "donair" meat, but not sure how many calories (a fair bit I think)...probably a lot of variability based on preparation.

I (shamefully admit) I love kebab/donner meat. I rarely eat it though because its just SO bad for you. When I see the amount of fat left in the box afterwards it makes my insides cry. Only after a VERY heavy night out, on the way home, with garlic sauce and chips, eep!

Chicken kebab is lovely though, with chicken breast, salad, yoghurt, etc, and a lot healthier :)

Here's an article from a UK daily paper, its a bit old. Doesn't make good reading, but who cares? Doner Kebabs taste gooood.

You can try spelling it in the following ways and some entries come up:

    - Doner
    - Donar

My first thought with 'donor meat' was actually food pantry/soup kitchen....

But kebab meat makes more sense, and there do seem to be a few entries for 'doner' or 'donar' meat in MFP's database.

Ooooh tell you what aswell, you can make really delcious and healthy style similar kebabs using just lean lamb mince, chopped mint, ground coriander and cumin....mix it up in a bowl and shape into little patties or whatever, and grill them (you can do them on skewers)....they are amazing!
