  • My advice is to talk to a doctor. They will let you know what you really need to be focusing on (calories, macro nutrients, etc) for your body. It not always the same, even if you are losing weight. My husband had to really focusing on adding water to his diet while I had to really count calories and we both lost weight.…
  • I found the key to making it stick is to have the habits part of your nature. With me, it was about picking something I wanted to start doing. It not easy, but nothing worth doing is. Try to pick one thing you are going to do everyday for a month, once that gets stuck on you try the next thing and keep going. Hope this…
  • As a fellow nightshifter, I have tried a couple methods. I tried tracking it by time, which I did not liked and found issues with. How I have handled it now is by meals. I eat a breakfast, two lunches, and dinner and have a section for snacks. For actually putting in, I always pick the day I first wake up. It has worked…
  • I think I agree with everyone so far. If you have it equal over the long term, a day here or cross over there shouldn't be a problem. I think the only issue I would run into is keeping track of it. It just seems easier to have the daily calorie count that resets at midnight. But if you can keep track of it, might as well.
  • I don't coffee and other drinks, but honestly, I'm not sure why. It includes water in them. Then again, you could also count the water in your food. After a while, I think it would be too much calculating. I think it is important to get enough water and if you can add it by other means, might as well. For coffee, as long…
  • I've been trying four meals and three snacks a day. Generally I found any change in your normal eating habit is good because it forces you to think about when and how you eat. However, it is up to you. I know people who have lost weight with one meal a day and those who could only keep going with five meals a day. Just…
  • I do the same thing, video games or apps for weight loss. I found it somewhat successful. But I never do food. I tried it for a whle and found that I ate way too much and eventually just broke down the whole eating healthy thing. Hope that helps.
  • Set goals. Small short term goals and long term goals. It has really helped me to give me goal posts. And I don't suggest making any of the short term goals pounds. For me short term goals was at first, just to stay under calories. Then I added that I should eat one veggie for each meal. Long term goals was weight loss per…
  • If you are sick, take care of yourself first. Your body is going to need fluid and food. Try to be reasonable (avoid comfort food if you can) but don't worry too much about how much you eat and the calories intill you feel better. Being over when you are sick often doesn't work aganist you since your body is working harder…
  • I totally didn't know there was a search bar. Exercise is a bit tough, I am on the computer and don't get a lunch. But I think I can find some time. There is a gym here. I will need to check if it open at night. Thanks
  • This was something my grandmother use to say, when I have ten minutes left on my cardio and I'm really feeling like giving up, I hear her voice telling me "Oh come on, you could wrestle a bear for that long!" It always works. :)
  • Are you hungry all the time? I really had to change the way I 'diet' when I decide to be healthy. Being hungry just makes me evil and I had to adjust my eating habits to say under calories yet not be hungry.
  • DOCTOR WHO. Love it to death!
  • I measure once a week.
  • One tip I've found works is to eat before going (even if it just a snack) that way those hors d'oeuvres don't seem so appealing. I go for simple ones, ones I can tell what the parts are. So I can log them . I count them as much as I can. Usually, I am at a special event and it's my off day, but I still try to log it.
  • Greek yogurt, cucumber and hummus, 100 calories fruit things, pistachio and cherry tomatoes
  • Hummus on cucumbers, yum. Greek yogurt
  • For me, it was "already married, what do I need to be skinny for." But when I start avoiding the mirror I knew that was stupid so I moved on to my favorite "I'm big but I'm healthy." Doctor put an end to that one when my cholesterol and blood pressure came back high. Exercising was "don't have time." still struggling with…
  • Yes, it does! I was shocked to find out how much 6 ounces and 8 ounces were at first. :noway: But it great. The one thing I do suggest is going ahead and speed a bit of money on a nice one. I got a cheap one, that isn't digital and there are times that it a real struggle to get it give me the right number. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm lost 17 pounds, started first week of July, so about six weeks for 17 pounds. My husband is going much slower, six weeks and he at eight pounds lost. It different for everyone. I notice the more weight you have, it first goes really quickly and then starts slowing down. I think I am going to take your idea about the…
  • The point of the pyramid is a guideline. It doesn't actually say you have to eat white bread and processed rice. It just the food that fit into the grain category that most people eat. If you are wanting to 'follow' the pyramid, it's more important to find the food that fit into those categories and what you want to eat.…
  • Thank you for sharing. :) It good to share information around, we should all be open to learning and growing.
  • My goal is 145. Partly due to the BMI, 130 was my high school weight. Healthy BMI is top at 170. So really, I choose a number between those two numbers. My input.
  • Great article. Thanks for sharing. It one of the things I started doing is to use other markers to judge how I am doing and not just the weight. Things like inches, steps walked and heart rate. Just to get a more complete picture of how I am doing.
  • Oh god yes. It terrible. I'm surprised anyone around me on these days. One thing I do to curb those chocolate cravings is have some chocolate almond milk. Not quite the same but it helps. Drinking alot of water helps with some of the bloating and headache. Walking helps with the rest. But I'm still a pain to be around!
  • That awesome. :) I hoping to see those bumps too someday.
  • One thing I like to do is have a base dish (like eggs or chicken) and add different other things to spice things up. Avocados are what I'm using right now. I had salsa with eggs this morning and I tried mushrooms with chicken the other week. It can add variety while still sticking to the more simple plan. :) Good luck!
  • Good post. Thanks for sharing.
