  • Hang in there - it can be done! Try not to look at the total number of pounds you need to lose. It can be too overwhelming. I too have a lot of weight to lose - total wt loss goal of 103lbs. I try to take things in 20lbs increments and I have just passed my half way mark  Kids are a great motivator. Setting a…
  • First, let me say you are not alone. So many of us are in similar situations. My vote is a big fat NO on the surgery:noway: I work in the medical field and I can tell you from first-hand experience that there are A LOT of complications from gastric bypass. I see some many with permanent malnutrician & absorption problems -…
  • Peanut butter, eggs, tuna, jerky, & chicken are my high protein/low carb favs!
  • Your goal should be personal (for you only) and most importantly, realistic. Many people set unrealistic or unattainable goals which leads to defeat. Ask yourself "what do I really want?" For me, yes I want to be thin, attractive, sexy, wear nice clothes, etc... but deep down I want a long, healthy, happy life. And to…
  • I find that eating foods high in protein tend to satisfy my hunger & allow me to get thru between meal times w/o snacking. My favorites are cottage cheese, eggs, peanut butter and chicken. Sweets are my downfall, so I stay away from candy, cookies, pastries, etc. Welcome back & good luck!:flowerforyou:
  • Welcome to MPF!:flowerforyou: I am sure you will find this site very helpful. Fortunately, I have no experience (yet) with hysterectomy & hormone therapy, but I'm sure there are others on this site that can give you advice. Best of luck to you!
  • Welcome to MPF!:flowerforyou: I think you will find this website very helpful. As the pounds come off your ability to handle the stresses of life will strengthen. Congrads on finishing school and best of luck to you.
  • I have been thinking my scale may need new batteries for a while now... the display takes longer to come on & it goes off quicker. But I have been afraid to do any investigating because what if I change the batteries or get a new scale and I turn out to be heavier??:noway: Now I'm thinking I should get a new one. Thanks…
  • Welcome to MPF!:flowerforyou: I too have a total wt loss goal of 100lbs - 103 to be exact. I started in March and am about 1/3 of the way there. I still eat a lot of the same foods, but limit the portions. Eating foods higher in protein (especially at breakfast) keeps me from getting hungry between meals. Keeping track of…
  • At least switch to a "lighter" version like sorbet, iced-milk, no sugar added, etc. Or better yet... STOP EATING THE ICE CREAM!!! There, someone said it... Good luck!
  • Yes, unfortunately it is true that many diabetic treatments can inhibit weight loss. It doesn't mean that it can't be done, but it makes it more challenging. Be sure to talk with your doctor who should be able to help you. As you can see from the diabetes support link... you are not alone! :flowerforyou:
  • Welcome to MFP!:flowerforyou: I think you will find this site very user friendly. Just enter everything you eat into the food diary - most things are already programed in the data base, but I save the packaging until I am done eating for the day. That way if I cannot find the food already listed, I just use the nutritional…

  • Welcome to MFP!:flowerforyou: Having a little one definately makes things more challenging - finding time to exercise can be difficult. But getting healthy is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child. My son is 2&1/2 - my goal is to lose 100lbs, and hope that he never remembers me being fat! Good luck in…
  • Welcome to MFP! :flowerforyou: And good luck to you...

  • I am not familiar with the diet you are on, but I know all about losing weight & gaining it back again! Are you taking any anti-inflammitory meds? Some glucosamine supplements might also be a good idea. Sounds like you need low impact exercise. The recumbent bike is good... how about swimming? Carefully chosen resistance…
  • Weight watchers is a good program - I have never tried it, but I know several people who have had success with it. However, I have heard mixed reports about their website... I think you will like it here. It's really easy & user friendly - and you can't beat free!!! Welcome :flowerforyou:

  • We all fall off the wagon from time to time. Try to think of it an another opportunity to succeed. And remember, today is a brand new day! Welcome back, you can do this!:flowerforyou:
  • You have a lot of courage which will help you to meet your goals. So glad to hear you decided against surgery - I have met so many people who have had bad complications. You are off to a great start. Just keep going and you will be at goal in no time - no surgery required! WELCOME!
  • Welcome to this site!:flowerforyou: Sounds like you have been on the weight loss coster, which is no fun. You are in good company here at MPF. Best of luck to you
  • I am a working mother w/ 2&1/2 year old son. I don't seem to have a problem meeting other mothers, but very few of them are close to my age. My son is the main reason I finally decided to get serious about weight loss & better health.
  • You are not alone in this struggle. I think you will like this site. Welcome and Good Luck! :flowerforyou:
  • You have taken a big first step by joining this site. I too am a professional at dieting & I do not consider what I am doing now to be a diet. Knowing & keeping track of your intake calories has really made a big difference for me and I bet it will for you too. There are plenty of people on this site with a lot of weight…

  • You are suffering from what I call "food fantasies." The commericals on TV drive me nuts! I know the food is never as good as they make it look, but I still long for it. Try allowing yourself small helpings now & then IF you think you can stick with that. The old potatoe chip slogan "you can't have just one" is totally…
  • Welcome!:flowerforyou: Just like you, I have a lot of weight to lose... but this site has really helped me get going in the right direction. I am hoping to break the 20lbs mark when I weigh in tomorrow. Stick with it and you can have great success. Best of luck to you and remember, you can do it!:drinker:

  • So nice to hear from someone else who needs to lose a lot of weight. My goal is to lose over 100lbs - I have lost 18 so far. Looking at the big picture is too overwhelming. Setting small goals makes the journey more managable. It can get depressing at times. My gripe is girls whining about wanting to slim down from a size…
  • Welcome to this site! :flowerforyou: I find it very user friendly. Good luck on your weight loss journey & congrads on the baby
