  • Might want to reach out to the Tech Support group; they helped me when I was having sync issues with my FitBit and seem to be rather knowledgeable.
  • I know you can set up MFP to record your workouts that you do on mapmyfitness; not sure about the other way around. It should walk you though the process if you go to the Apps section of MFP and link the accounts. Once you log an excercise, it should pull through the information regarding calories burned into your MFP
  • Thanks for all the great answers, folks!
  • There's the core of your problem right there. Never, NEVER (did I mention NEVER?) weigh daily. Weight fluctuates daily. It's a good way to get yourself anxiety-ridden and freaking the heck out. A good rule of thumb is at the very MOST, weigh yourself weekly; make it the same day each week. You may have to hide the scale…
  • What's your sodium intake? High sodium makes you hold onto water like a camel--that might be why you look "bloated" in the morning. The moment I cut back on salty stuff, I looked a lot less like a blueberry; I'm not flat by any means, but I'm getting there. As far as "gaining" weight, have you considered that muscle…
  • I'm slowly coming to terms with the OP's thoughts; I used to be on a diet of 1400-1500 calories, and was practically starving myself come lunch time so I could have a decent dinner at home after work. Although it's nice to look at the scale and say, "Damn, I lost 3-4 pounds this week", it's not the healthiest thing that…
  • A few things that I've found helpful: NEVER put yourself as "Sedentary". Unless you literally lay in bed all day and do absolutely nothing, you should at least be at "lightly active" Another thing, and others may disagree with me on this: Get a Fitbit. It incorperates well with MFP and will give you a much more accurate…
  • Wine is grapes, so in my mind, you're getting your daily servings of fruit!
  • Buick. Fenders, hubcaps and all...doctor said I needed more Iron in my diet.
  • What about that one guy/girl that was super heavy and just used clapping to Richard Simmons as exercise and was able to get back down over time (not sure where I heard this from). I don't think it's an issue about not being "active" as much as just giving up.
  • Walley... 8/10; Happy and healthy!
  • Why would you even....I mean, I could see if it was a glandular problem, but...damn. I had a hard enough time at 230lbs.
  • I'm on daily (when able) and could use someone to encourage me when I'm not doing so good. Feel free to add me and we'll kick each other's butts :)
  • What the heck did I get myself into?
  • Tell her to mind her own damn business and smack the back of her head. Remember, it's YOUR journey, not hers. She hasn't had to walk in your shoes, and has NO right to judge.
  • +1 this :drinker:
  • If you're having issues with the whole "numbers being off for exercise" thing, you could always look into figuring out your TDEE and not logging exercise at all. For those interested, this kinda goes into the explanation of TDEE and points to some great sources as well. http://bit.ly/16q5ZPP
  • Very true. The heavier the person is, the harder their body has to work to move around the weight. I burn less calories now at 205 lbs than I did when I started at 234lbs; if I were to burn as many calories as I did in the beginning (hypothetically) it would be the equivalent of me walking around all day with a 29 pound…
  • This is one of the reasons why I use my Fitbit. Most of my activities that I do are walking, so Fitbit tracks and adjusts my MFP cals to reflect the deficit. Other than that, I don't really log my exercises much; I just remember that the more moving around that I do, the better chance I have to drop pounds. If I really…
  • I know what hangry is, but Horngry???
  • Are you getting an adequate amount of rest? I find it easier to exercise once I've slept about 7-8 hours; after a good stretching (not the get out of bed and yawn and reach, but a full blown chest, arm, and torso stretch), I'm ready to go.
  • I think you might mean Carbs, not crabs. Low in Carbs

  • No problem ;)
  • The app is just a tool, it's a food journal to track your calories. I've been using it for approximately 3 months so far, and most of my success thus far has been from watching my calories and changing the types/quality of what I eat. Less heavily processed, highly salted junk food, more fresh fruits and veggies and whole…
  • Concise and to the point. Thumbs up to you, sir :drinker: What it boils down to is the quality of your calories going in, and exercise helping to keep your metabolism going strong.
  • Well, to start out with I can see that part of the issue is that you're cutting out things all together all at once. That sends your body into a craving...hence the binge and the feeling of a loss of control. Have you tried cutting back rather than cutting out altogether? Addiction to sweets is just like any other…
  • :drinker: on that one
  • Well friends work the way you want them to work. I can only really tell you my experience with MFP friends. I started about 3-4 months ago, and needed a little positive reinforcement and a little "nudge" for motivation. Having my friends on MFP has helped me out and get me out of a funk when things aren't going well. I can…
  • Oh. Also since I don't think this has been brought up yet in the discussion (or maybe it has), scales may tend to go wonky if you place them on a soft surface (ie. Carpeting). Most people's living room is either carpet or laminate wood, but both have a give to them due to padding underneath. Unless you have a…
