I went grocery shopping yesterday and left the store without any "treats". I bypassed them all, including my favorite gelato that was $3 off. Sang a little song in the car on the way home.

Congratulations!

I will often buy a fully cooked rotisserie chicken at the grocery store and use bits of it in meals for the week. The downside for you may be removing the meat from the bones. That said, your meat eating family can do the picking themselves. It is also possible to purchase grilled boneless chicken breasts that you can cut…

Here's a definition for mental block I found on the internet: "A mental block is a psychological obstacle or limiting mindset that prevents you from completing important tasks and achieving success. Mental blocks are invisible barriers standing in the way of your productivity." This came from an article that I am going to…

Such positivity! I sometimes feel that attitude is 99% of the battle and yours is shimmering. Congratulations on tracking all these victories.

I was just coming here to leave this exact request. PLEASE CONSIDER! Being able to track added sugars would be a game changer.

And reset again the next even after I have corrected the previous evening.

I am concerned that you need to speak with a health professional. Even if you are being light hearted about "losing the will to live", I would be concerned that there might be a kernel of truth in there somewhere. If you are drastically below calories (there's an energy problem right there) because you are scared of food…

Don't be afraid. If you are genuinely freaked out about this you need to talk to your doctor. If you are just being dramatic, you are not helping yourself. Settle down a little. I would encourage you to be eating around 1500 calories for starters. Do not go with the 1200 baseline that MFP will often give you if you set…

Waitlisters do get brought in, so don't lose hope.

Yes, change your default view to "Frequent". But, there's this, too. Let it go. Do not let your mind make a big deal about this. You will make yourself crazy if you stress out about seeing certain words. I'd go so far as to suggest leaving your diary alone and just getting on the other side of being okay about it.

Hi Alison. You are on track with knowing it is best to avoid the office kitchen whenever possible. I wonder if you have a chance to make a culture change at work by suggesting that donuts cease and desist and be replaced by fruit and/or other healthier fare. It's worth a try. I am sure roasted seaweed is lovely, but I am…

Fabulous!!! Congratulations! And thank you for sharing your inspiring story.

Get very familiar now with the nutrition information of places you are likely to eat on the run and eat accordingly. Plan ahead. I think you will very quickly make yourself crazy if you try to plan meals based on dividing your calories equally. Seriously crazy making. And you will be on to do-over 1,011 in very short…

Actually, your pre-exercise calorie goal looks very low for a 24 man with only 14 pounds to lose. The 2 pound per week rate is geared toward very obese people with closer to 100 pounds to lose. At your age (younger people actually need more calories) and weight, your rate should be about 1/2 pound per week. This is a…

I quit a year ago and I only rarely want to smoke anymore. Rarely, and it passes quickly. I had been smoking for nearly 40 years (like enterdanger above, I loved everything about it) and quitting was hard, hard, hard, but I did it cold-turkey and without any chemical help. Every time I wanted a cigarette, I would take 3…

Back until very soft and sprinkle with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. No butter or other oils. When they are baked very soft, they are also very moist.

The scale only provides scientific feedback, it is not a judge of character or your value as a human being (priceless, btw). You need to know where you are so you can find out if you are headed in the right direction for where you want to be. In answer to your question. Yes. Other people get like this about weighing in.…

Self awareness is a powerful thing. Good for you! I expect you'll notice a difference very soon. :-) I decided at the beginning of this journey (down 59lbs since March 2014) that I was unwilling to make changes to lose weight that would be difficult to maintain for the rest of my life. What that means has been a learning…

Also check for Confirmations. After you select an item so you can choose your serving size, look under the bold red heading to see "(member submitted, XXX confirmations)". The more confirmations an item has the more likely it is correct. Also, many generic items are also submitted by members and but are not asterisked.

Hurray you!!! Having recently relocated to Onederland myself, I welcome you. This is a pretty exciting place.

Delicious!!! I bought this double bladed thingy that peels on one side and shreds on the other. I got it on Amazon for under $9. http://www.amazon.com/x2605-Ultra-Julienne-Peeler-Vegetable/dp/B00L3I3226/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410442668&sr=8-3&keywords=vegetable+shredder Last night I shredded one zucchini (about 200g) and…

And mine. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. If a reply is necessary, simply say, "Whatever." Good luck sweetheart. Get your degree as quickly as possible. Arrange for out of town internships or stay with classmates over any remaining breaks. And move away to healthy, positive people. I promise they are out there and you deserve much…
